I am looking to have a contractor build a single car garage which is 12' x 24' in my backyard. Permits are in the works.

What is average the cost of removing the existing grade, forming, set reinforcing, and pouring a monolithic slab for a garage --> there is only 8'-0" access via a shared laneway. (typical Toronto). Distance from road is about 80ft.

Would they pump or how would they do this? A lot of wheel barrows?

Thanks!

I have completed many large contracts in downtown Toronto.

To clear, excavate three feet and ten inches deep for a full suround foundation. Pour 3500 P.S.I aerated concret and install 1" rebar capped posts to build to. Install 3/4" stone grading within the foundation. Pack and prep. add 3/4" rebar cross rod pattern throughout, and pour a 3500 P.S.I. aerated concrete for the garage floor eight inches deep.

This may seem like overkill, but you can build a very strong structure on this base. And you will never experience any problems with it.

The approximate cost is 10,500.00 to 11,800.00 plus tax. Location in the city is also a factor that can effect the overall cost.

I added a third floor addition to a home on Avenue road and paid of fifty dollars an hour for off duty police to take care of traffic while I had large cranes working the site.

Don't let someone talk you into a thi pad with mesh screening and a pour without a proper foundation suround. Unless you are building more of a shed/storage unit in the location of anold garage.

I am about to start a similar project in downtown Niagara falls at a home very neat the Casino's and the tower.

Good luck with your project.

I am just finishing a garage downtown. Involved excavating, footing and building the foundation with blocks. Poured concrete slab for the garage with foundation.

If it is 8ft we should be able to getaway with smaller bin for removal of the soil and the truck will have to be onsite at most time while digging just incase if there is traffic in the laneway. A bit of a nuisance but doeable. Weekdays after 10am is ideal as most of the people are at work.

Guessing our responsibility is only bringing the wall up to the grade and pouring of slab. I would consider the estiamte to be around $12000 + HST.
