I bought a new house located in Barrie and I need to stain the stairs to match the first floor.

How much will this cost me? And, how long?

Hello New house owner in Barrie

I just finish a whole stair case, doing all the spindles, and staining . . . how many stairs are there and is there spindles involved with this project?

Depending on the number of stairs probably take a few days.

When it comes to matching existing stain that is always a tough one, unless the match is a easy find at your local hardware store. In any case if it is only treads then allow 10 to 15 mins per tread, if you are also looking at spindles then be prepared for some extra time, try not to rush and make sure your rag is folded so that there are no flappy ends.

In regards to cost, be sure you read up on staining and sealing. Allow a good 3hrs for that and remember to seal the stain allow a good day 8hrs,

Typically 2 - 3 days, cost varies by the finish you select and the prep of the wood.

Depending on the number of stairs, darker or lighter colour, the temp, and the professionallty of the person.

There are a few factors when pricing it, for instance how many stairs there are to stain and if there are railings and posts that need to be stained.

They will need a light sanding and it is best to apply a conditioner so that you get a uniform finish. This will give the best finished look. It will require a minimum of two days as you will need to let it dry in between coats.

What are the stairs surfaced with? Has the flooring been re surfaced with hardwood and not the stairs?

My suggestion if the floor has been re finished in hardwood/veneer flooring your stairs should be easily matched and re surfaced with that flooring as well.

Best I can say with the information at hand.
