Vinyl siding versus re-stucco

We have a 1951 house that we recently purcahsed. I'd like to vinyl the outside, but my lady would like to just have someone come and re-cover the stucco. It is currently a nice 1951 glass and rock stucco.

I'm wondering if anyone has entertained this idea before and what were the costs/quotes given?

I realize the size of the home dictates overall cost... anyone have a per sqr foot cost?

Hi Nils,

From this and your other posts, it sounds like you guys are thinking through and planning a bunch of projects.

This particular one is a major deal as it the "curb appeal" for the next how may years? If it is going to be a rental, then go on the cheaper / lower maintenance side like vinyl. Then the only choice is the colour. If you are going to live there, you have to agree on it first and if it was me, I would try to keep it in tune with the neighborhood but move the look nearer the top end instead of the middle.

Good Luck with it!
