Looking to get a range of labour cost for a 2nd story deck.
No need for materials, as we can easily price those out.
Deck is large L-shaped deck (54' x 10' & 22' x 11'). Approx 825 SF total.
We have an existing deck that will be pulled down, and we will be retaining & reusing the current 6x6 posts that are still in good shape.
There will be about 5-6 new posts, and thinking of having a post company dig and set those.
We're using PT, nothing fancy. We are using a glass railing for the long section (54') of deck, as we would like an unobstructed view. However, we don't have a preference between glass in aluminum or glass in wood.
We will have 2 set of stairs (1 from either corner of the deck), which I'm thinking will have to be split with a landing.
My thought is this will be about 10-12 days with a 3 man crew. Thoughts from anyone on this?
I'm trying to get an average range of labour costs, so I can realistically review quotes. As mentioned, materials are easy enough for one of the big box stores to provide a range.
You should be looking at $29.33 per square foot, plus waste removal.
Thanks,

Hi Redbear,
Thanks very much. Is your $29.33/SqFt for labour only? We're looking to understand the labour component only of this project.
Also looking to understand if 3 guys working on this would be how long? I have a thought of 10-12 days, and want to know if this is in the range?
Hi Joe,
Based on the description, your deck would take a good 14 days to complete from start to finish with 3 guys. Your labor portion for the deck would be approx 16800.00 before tax and off the top of my head, the material including lumber, glass, hardware, concrete, etc will run approx 7500.00 and more if you go with the aluminum rail.
Hope this helps!
