My recently purchase condo has a pseudo-built in dishwasher-it is a portable dishwasher (on wheels etc) that for some reason the previous owner had "installed". Water supply was split and drain hooking up were installed and run under the counter and connect to the back of the dishwasher. No power supply was installed though, dishwasher was connected via extension cord to the nearest outlet. Dishwasher now works like a built-in dishwasher in that I don't have to pull it over to the sink/turn on taps etc however I want to replace it with a properly installed actual built in unit.
Looking for an estimate of what the cost of installing the built in would be considering it looks like plumbing is set up for the most part but I know it will need a power source etc.
Thank you for your help!
Hi Emily,
I would contact at least three Electrical Contractors (EC) in your area and have them come to the site for an estimate. Make sure they all have an ESA number and it is current.
The price will vary depending on what needs to be done to get power over to your new unit. If it is a short distance, if the there is conduit installed, will walls / ceiling needs to be opened up, etc.
The other side is if there is sufficient capacity in your panel for an additional circuit; too many variables to give a reasonable answer.
Cheers

It all depends on what is needed for the power supply and I have done a fare number of those and the average pending on whether there is enough room on the panel it usually runs from $200-$500.
Thank you
