Main bathroom, approx 49 sq ft. Home built 1910, bathroom last updated likely late 1970's, early 1980's, would like to restore a "vintage" charm, limited budget. Will need to be taken down to studs and subfloor, ceiling needs replacing as well due to roof leak (repaired). Would like exhaust fan installed depending on costs. Homeowner can do most demolition and finishing work (trim, drywall mud/tape, paint) and has some materials already on hand. 3 current photosare posted as well as one "idea" photo.
The existing bathroom needs a total overhaul. New floor, tub, tile, vanity.
The biggest change is that we would like to bust into the closet on the other side of the existing vanity and insert the bath into that alcove giving us more floor space in the bathroom. New electrical will be needed for vanity lights and receptacles.
We would have some specific choices already picked out for tile, tub, toilet, and vanity.
- roughly 60 square feet
- age of building is roughly 100 years old - historic apartment complex converted to condos.
- tile floors, claw foot bathtub, pedastal sink and toilet, along with a tiled floor
- wood panels run up the wall roughly 3.5 feet from the floor, and then plaster walls run up to the ceiling from there
Project Description:
What I am willing to do:
- remove tub, toilet, radiator and sink and vanity/sink
- demo the wood paneling
- tile the new floor
- tile the walls from floor to ceiling after new tub, toilet and vanity have been installed (to be done by contractor)
- negotiate prices with regards to tiles, and vanity fixtures with the contractor (price difference wholesale etc..)
What I am looking from a contractor to do:
- install a under the tile floor radiator system (ie. floor heating for the bathroom)
- prep walls (dry wall, concrete backed/membrane drywall for around tub etc) for tiling to be done by myself
- install new drop in bathtub, vanity and toilet (to be purchased by myself)
- recess some of the plumbing behind the wall for the sink and toilet ( or if that is too difficult, update plumbing with new pipes)
- flip the bathroom door so that it opens out into the hallway instead of into the bathroom
House was built in 1992. Original owner installed a shower in this 1 1/2 bathroom that left 6 inches of useless space between the towel pantry and the shower stall itself. Bathroom is just under 50 square feet (94 5/8" X 66 1/2"). Previous renovation on this bathroom consisted of the lino floor removed and corkboard flooring installed. (The previous owner installed very cheap looking chipboard on the walls.)
Work required:
1. Remove existing shower (could be done by myself)
2. Remove existing chipboard (could be done by myself)
3. Installed ceramic wall on each side of the existing shower.
4. Install a customized size acrylic shower with a corner seat, using all available space.
The biggest issue is that the towel pantry has been off centered, ie: one side is an inch closer to the shower stall. This would not be an issue to be corrected, however as the acrylic wall could be installed at the current corner

1950 bungalow would like to maintain vintage of the bathroom with some current style, original tile has been painted possible to strip and repaint? Bath is separate from shower. Shower needs to be re-tiled and probably ripped out and bath tube re-glazed. Ceiling fan needs to be added and heater re-fitted. New lighting and perhaps some new fixtures. Some cabinets need to be made as well.
bathroom is about 19 Sq f. There is water damage. I like to fix the it, replace the tub, replace the floor, replace the tiles above the tub, fix damage on the wall and anywhere else damage may exist.
My main concern is the money immediately followed by quality. I need some one to do an estimate so I know how much money to borrow. I have put as budget 5000 but can do up to 10000 if necessary. Project can start as soon as I get the money.
Bathroom: we purchased a house were 6 kids were raised, the floor around the toilet is urine stained.
Would like to replace sub floor around tiolet (about 10 square feet), install new toilet, install new flooring (approximately 60-75 sq ft)
Conditions good, existing tub shower, vanity.
Preferred materials: ceramic tile floor.
House age - 1980
Looking for detailed estimate. Please call to make an appointment.
Need rectified asap as this is area where kid's bedrooms are and don't want this as a health concern.

I am gutting the entire bathroom including removing the plaster walls and the floor. I have contracted a plumber to do the plumbing work but I would like someone to coordinate with him and install a heated tile floor, electrical fixtures and outlet, shelving, and finish with drywall. Also the window needs to be made smaller to allow installation of the new shower. Area for the tile floor is 65 sq ft. Also requires installation of subway tile bath surround. Lastly this needs to be started around August 16 to 20.
Small bathroom in a rental property. I would like a Simple design, low cost durable white fixtures. Leaking window on shower wall needs replacement, prefer white PVC. Fixtures are turquoise..hmmm...mid 50's? Floor is newer. Also need a fan and a GFI outlet. Tub surround or white subway tile. I can do the taps myself unless it's a really good deal of course. Property is empty would like reno completed before Sept 1st. I'd like to start with an online quote and go from there.
I am replacing all fixtures toilet, vanity, sink and tub,. Cood possibility supply my own fixtures unless you can offer better prices than I can get on sale at the box stores, Thanks, R
Would like to go with a new bathtub 59" x 30.5" new tiles and a new vanity with a new counter top and sink. also new fixtures.
The vanity should have some drawer and is approx. 4ft long and width is 22 inches.
I think this is pretty straight forward. I don't think that there is any thing that would cause any complications our bathroom isn't a odd shape. It's your typical rectangular shape. We could help in the removing some on the things.
bathroom - approx 5 x 7 - complete teardown and rebuild; some plumbing work including making a real shower, update/upgrade galvanized, lead bend etc. would prefer to keep the window (replace the actual window); want to replace 30 x 60 tub with a 30 x 60 shower base - not sure about walls yet - tile or surround depending on price. new sink and toilet, floor, fixtures. house is approx. 60 years old; not sure if lath & plaster or drywall at current time;
time of the project is important as there is only the one bathroom in the house; i am not looking for fancy, but want it to look nice and be safe & watertight and easy to clean
This project is a renovation of a 5x8 bathroom. The work will include:
- removal of old tub and installation of new tub
- removal of old tub surround and installation of new tub surround
- will likely require replacement of drywall around tub due to water damage
- removal of old toilet and installation of new toilet
- installation of ceramic tile on floor
- possible repair of small section of sub floor due to water damage
- installation of new tub/shower fixtures (shower head, taps, faucet)
We will be keeping our existing sink/vanity.
Other info:
- The house was built in 1983.
- We haven't decided on the tub, toilet, tub surround or floor tile yet. Any recommendations are welcome.
- We do know that we want large rectangular tile for the floor (like 12x24 tiles) if that helps. - Current floor is peel and stick vinyl tiles that we can easily remove ourselves.
Thanks!
I have an older home with a very small bathroom. It is maybe 5 x 6 feet. I have a window in the middle of my wall where the shower is located. I would love to make that window smaller or not there at all. I am open to any ideas (tile, tub surround). I have a pedestal sink and toilet as well in the bathroom. I am looking for some space saving ideas as well as some storage above the toilet. Please feel free to contact me with any ideas you may have.

2nd Floor bathroom renovation. Space is approximately 8' x 6'. Looking for deep, jetted tub with shower and surround. Ceramic tile floors, new cabinet, counter, sink and toilet. The existing tub does not drain well at all. Looking for mid-range cabinetry, but higher end tub, shower, faucets and properly plumbed fitments. What can I do to assist/reduce cost?
I would like this job completed as soon as possible. Estimates should include start and completion dates. I may finance, depending on cost.
Thanks.
Hi .. Was wondering what you would charge to remove old tub and install a new shower tub surround kit w/ door?
The dimensions of the area are approx. 60" x 30". Would like the pipes checked also while at it and will get shower head and faucet to be installed as well.
Have attached photos of current situation.
Also note: Was not sure about what budget .. but was thinking 3-4000$.
