Bowing ceiling in bedroom - home built in 1982 - we have noticed that where the tape line is on the ceiling - one 1/2 of the ceiling is starting to bow wondering if and who would look into this for us - online estimate is fine but we may need someone to come out and inspect the sitution as not sure how or what is involved in trying to fix this-
Noticed small area of blistered paint on kitchen ceiling, so, assuming it was a small leak, decided to have the roof shingles replaced, and insulation upgraded.
A few months later, I noticed the damaged area had grown, but by then I was in the middle of a major family health issue that took all my attention.
After the passing of my wife, my son and grandsons moved into the house, and I moved to an apartment.
In the several years since, my son alerted me that the damage to the ceiling had grown precipitously worse. I took a look at the attic, but couldn't visually determine where the water was coming from. But to my consternation, I couldn't investigate any further, as all the rafters had been buried by a foot of new insulation!
I need help to solve this problem that doesn't break the bank, as I am a pensioner on a fixed income.
I have Thursday Oct.5 th as a day off so i have free time to have a bad water leak looked at in my living room ceiling when it rains. other than Thursday i work early mornings including Saturdays til 3:30 pm so no one home til after 4 pm daily other than Thursday. I need it fixed asap as i have a pail catching water when it rains. and its getting colder. I knew a few years ago that I needed a new roof. As insurance stopped my coverage til I got a new roof. But I was not working for a while due to a knee replacement and recovery from being in a coma plus a separation from wife. I would not mind if I got a tempary fix of leak til after winter to arrange financing for re-roofing. Its on a bungalow in st.James off portage by moray bridge. Please let me know so i can be home to get the estimate as i would not mind to get a few.estimates before thursday and do some work Thursday would be excellent
Much appreciated
Thank-you
I'm currently remodling/renovating my parents house that I am going to buy. The drywall finishing was poorly done and I have been fixing cracks and doing a skin coat to smooth out the walls. I will be removing the popcorn ceiling and would rather have some pros come in and finish the ceiling. I'm also considering having the inside corners retaped because there are many imperfection in one and they all look like garbage close to the ceiling, as well as the seem to rounded for my liking. All together it is about 230 square foot of ceiling that includes the corners and about 36 linear feet of inside corner to be finished.
mobile home approx 35 years old. The ceiling currently has popcorn look over the existing tiles. We have had some water damage caused from roof leak. The roof has since been re-done. Some spots of the ceiling have water damage and some have cracks or chipping in the stucco. Not sure what else is needed.
I need ceiling tile replaced in my 10' X 16' kitchen. I have picked out the tile I would like from Rona. I believe it is called a suspended ceiling. The house is bungalow style so there is no floor above. I plan on doing the ceiling demo (if required) to save cost. If the ceiling has to be demoed I imagine the insulation would have to be replaced. I also need some electrical work done. Currently there is a light fixture in the center of the ceiling which is controlled by a pull chain. I would like to replace it and to have a switch installed as you enter the kitchen to control the fixture. Could you please advise if you are interested and give me a rough quote on this job.
Thank you so much!
I bought a condo. Do you have a contracting license?
I have work that needs to get done on my dining room ceiling.
Plus, a patch job for dry wall when my new wall heater was installed smaller then the old wall heater.
Also, I am getting my master bathroom flooring done but would like a new mirror put in have the walls painted and a nee toilet paper dispenser installed.
Lastly, would like an old fan removed and a chandelier put up.
I'm looking for quotes to finish two walls and a portion of a ceiling on a rental property. Each wall is about 15'x8.5', and the ceiling portion is about 10'x16'.
They'll need new drywall installed, taping, mudding, sanding (and maybe baseboards installed on the walls). I will do the painting.
The work must be started and completed between 13-25 August.
Thanks,
Olivier
Kitchen ceiling drywall replacement and reinsulation of attic (likely have to remove insulation), minor painting and fixing up to sell.
Drywall has separated from tresses and is bowing so it needs to be replaced. Have had estimates done previously, but we need someone to do it ASAP! There was no reported water damage, the screws were apparently too tight and became separated and the problem was left too long to simply reattach as there is now bowing of the original drywall.
Plaster ceiling(stippled) has developed cracks and is sagging down in a few areas( shored up temporarily with telepost). We had water leak in living room, we replaced shingles a month ago. Few weeks ago cracks developed and last week ceiling sagged down for about 6-8’ stretch. water started cone out if crack at lowest spot UPDATE. Ceiling collapsed in this section cleaned up debris. Looking to have repaired.
2 bedroom 1 bath 965 SqFt apartment. Popcorn ceiling removed except in closets and bathroom. Want all popcorn gone. Previous owners removed popcorn in bedrooms but didn't finish ceiling.
Some minor patchwork required on walls. One bedroom has 1 wall previously painted with chalkboard paint.

We are property owner. We have observed a affected area of about 45cm by 7-10 cm , a crack ( approx 1/2mm wide) on Stucco suspended ceiling in the dinning area. This crack could be due to leakage in the joints of drain water pipe line of bath room located above the ceiling.
We would like contractor to
a. identify the root cause of stucco ceiling crack and suggest overall repair for the same.
b. incase, the crack is due to seepage of leaking water into the stucco ceiling from bath room drain water pipe line, the affected Stucco ceiling will be opened and locate the leaking pipe joint & plug it.
b. Repair the "opened ceiling portion" to it's original finish similar to other area.
In worst case scenerio , the water leak is at the bottom of the bath room drain trap ,this might need undertaking the major repairs of bathroom floor tiles & drain trap pipe line along with suspended stucco ceiling portion.
We now have a large hole in the ceiling in the kitchen caused by a neglected water leak in our bathroom. We had the leak fixed, and the hot water is tured off to our bathroom sink. We have old plumbing, so sometimes there is still water dripping down from the hole when my husband has a shower. The hole is quite large, and we have also got peeling paint on the wall under the leak.
Currently my kitchen, dining room and living room have cracks appearing in the textured ceilings. In fact, the dining room ceiling drywall has cracked badly and is ready to fall. I would like to have the damaged drywall replaced and re-textured. As well, I would like all the cracks to be patched properly. I also request that proper damage prevention and cleanup will occur.
I would also consider other options.
I would like the repair person to do a free in-house consultation prior to any quote being given.
Our ceilings in both our dining room and kitchen were recently damaged after water seeped in. We have a story and a half in St. James. The house is approximately 50 yrs old. In the kitchen there is a strip about 2 feet long where the water has seeped right through and damaged the finish. In the dining room we have a stippled finish that has fallen away in a strip almost 4 feet long. Both of these seem to be in the same location relative to where the upstairs bedroom joins the main floor roof.
Hope this made sense
Matt
Leaking skylight has caused damage to existing stipple ceiling. Leak has been repaired and skylight has not leaked for last 3 years. Removal of stipple ceiling in living room. Vaulted ceiling (approx 12' at highest point?) portion of ceiling is over stairs to basement (scaffolding may be required?). Removal of existing lighting and Installation of new LED pot lights.
Roof is leaking in unknown location. 3 different roofers unable to find and seal. New roof now on agenda. Need quotes on repair to ceiling in foyer. Now stippled. Has opened up and cracked open 16 x 8 inches across. Drywall and stipple falling all over hardword floors. A mess. Can't close front door without another piece falling. May need to repair/replace. Option is new drywall. Insullation blown in last year from rooftop. No idea what to do replace or repair. Open to ideas and suggestions. Insurance claim approved. Need quotes asap. Can provide pictures if necessary. Livingroom area is 27 x 20. Plus hallway approx. 3 x 19 long.
Remove ceiling, vault ceiling, add skylights, repair water damage in walls, (caused by ice damming) while re-insulating entire house, (small house).
Complete already gutted half bath, replace windows, front door and front steps. Repair / replace some electrical.
