Insulate a roughly 1400 sq foot basement, with 9' walls, including joist cavities etc. All fiberglass insulation, poly, vb, etc. supplied by owner and onsite. Poly around 3 basement windows.
Preference is for work on December 23rd, 2016 or afternoon/evening of December 22nd, 2016, but flexible to accommodate work between 27th to 30th of December.
Insulation of basement.
We recently move in about a year ago. We wanna apply for Manitoba hydro program for insulation and looking for contractor to give an estimate price. It is a full-basement no insulation except a 2x4 already installed.
We have a new furnace but no centralized aircon. In winter time it gets really cold on the main floor.
I have a 40 foot wall in my basement that needs to be framed, insulated and drywalled and all that would be entailed in this process. Not painted, I can do that myself. This is in my laundry/furnace room. Right now it is bare cement, and would need to be insulated to R-24. This is for the ecoENERGY program, and would need to be completed by February.
Hi
I would like someone to come out and assess my basement in order to proceed with insulating it. I think the basement is about 500-600 sq ft, 100 years old, unfinished, and uninsulated. It doesn't appear to have ever been insulated.
The uninsulated basement is fairly cold in the winter. I don't think it has ever been adequately insulated. I put styrofoam up in the top area last year and insulated and filled some cracks but I would like to insulate it but need someone to look at it first.
My son has a 11/2 storey 864 ft2 house located at 143 Grandin St. in St Boniface. It was built in 1930. He is installing new windows soon and the roof needs insulation. I don't know what type but I assume it something that is blown in and is safe and efficient. MB Hydro apparently supplies the insulation for free so I would need to know the cost for the installation. No financing as my son would pay himself. Can you give me a ball park # or do you have to inspect the premises first?
Thank you
Maurice B.
I have an attic space that needs to be insulated (approx 1050 sq ft) with celulose. I have the insulation on hand waiting to be used as well as access to a blower. What is currently required is for soffit vents to be installed prior to blowing. The home was constructed in 1954 and has a hip roof. There is currently wood chips as insulation and according to my calculations is at about R5. My plan is to bring it up to R50.
We noticed some moisture on a wall this past winter and I finally got around to having a look at the drywall behind the baseboard. I pulled off the baseboard found a mess.
I peeled the plastic back behind the rotted drywall and looks as though there is missing insulation behind the rotted piece. There is a stud on the left adjacent to the hole.
House was built in Winnipeg in 1960s.
We have an 900 sq. ft. house in st vital area. A small box of a house with stucco on the exterior walls.
I don't think there is enough insulation as there is condensation on the inside corners of the N.W and N.E walls. All other exterior walls are very very cold to the touch. So I would love an estimate to have those pink or green insulation sheets put up and stuccoed. I'm a novice at all this insulation stuff. So I need some honest, yes, honest advice/cost estimates from some professionals.
I look forward to hearing from anyone.
Please help,
Hello, I have a 1/12 story home with many different attics with insufficient insulation that causes ice damming on one side of the house. There is also no insulation in the exterior walls and with hydro increasing and rebate available, we need to find a solution. The home is 1500 sq. Feet and the attics are accessible easily from the interior. Thanks for your time and I appreciate your reply.
Andrew
Two story home 1450 sq ft. At present the home has partial brick, vynal siding and stucco. We have replaced windows with Polar but realize we need to re-insulate the entire outside. We thought we would find out about doing the front in the brick first with the added insulation. built in 1965. very solid home built with fur.
We've recently had our home inspected for energy efficiency standards and would like to find a contractor who can provide us with an itemized quote on installing the required items on our recommended upgrade list. These include, a heat recovery and air-quality ventilation system, a new air conditioning unit, a new hot water tank, attic and roof insulation, outside wall re-insulation, basement insulation + vapor-barrier, drain-water heat recovery system, and a new furnace.
I have a 3 story house, older home. (the third floor is half triangular shaped)
its i believe about 1700 sq ft.,
house is about 100 years old.
What i am looking for is to have the house have blown in insulation from the outside into the walls. (not sure of proper wording)
Right now, even though I am ready to hire, I want a quote that will be at equal or lesser cost when project is done... I do not want to hire someone that quotes me a price then raises it after seeing my house and sticking with said price, before the project has already begun.
I want someone who is reliable, and responsible. I have had contractors who missed appointments, changed cost, or forgot to "add in" costs to their final bill.
We are very punctual people and would expect the same or people who will call if they need to cancle or be late.
Besides that, it is pretty cut in dry.. 3 story house (top floor not being full size) about 1700 sq ft.. blown in from outside to in.. And someone who can do a good clean job.
If you can help with something like this, please feel free to email me, with questions or rough quotes.. thank you
I'm looking at upgrading some areas of insulation and air leakage of my 1949 home. Exterior walls have existing paper-backed grey fiberglass, and attic has newer blown in fill. 875 sq ft; so there is limited options here, but am looking for other quick hitter items (insulating under floor at foundation, etc). Basement is newly finished with batt insulation.
Thx
Michael
Looking to have insulation installed in the ceiling of our garage. Walls are fiberglass R12 and drywall, looking to have ceiling insulated before winter. Would like quotes for our options... spray, fiberglass, etc... Dimensions 22' x 22'. Vapour barrier and drywall to be done by us.
I just bought a house built in 1946 that has 4 knee wall attics. The floors of the attics presently have no insulation. The walls between the attics and the house have virtually no insulation, and the outer walls have some original insulation. 3 out of the 4 knee walls have doors going into the attics and 1 is a blind kneewall attic. I would like to insulate the floors. the inner walls and the doors. I would also like to add insulation to the main attic which presently has pink fluff chunks. I think vents also need to be added to the kneewall spaces and probably 1 vent for the main attic.
100+ year Wolseley home Looking to upgrade the insulation. There are 2-3 walls that feel very cold in the winter and ice dams form on the North side I believe due to lack of insulation in the knee walls under the roof Looking to work with contractor who is registered with the Manitoba Hydro Insulation program.
There is no proper ventilation in the attic and the insulation is not sufficient and result in ice damns and ceiling damages last Spring. We would like to get a cost estimate to add proper ventilation and required insulation. The house is 942 sq. ft. and on 1 level. We want to apply for the Manitoba Hydro credit. The roof was redone by a contractor last summer. The work has to be completed before Winter.
This is an older mobile home located in the Southglen trailer park. The attached mud room has shifted slightly so that the doors do not close. It is also in need of extra insulation in the walls and possibly the roof. I am also looking at further insulation of the home's roof. I am assuming this will be insulating and then re-roofing over top of the old roof.
Please let me know how much this should cost me and I would prefer it done before the snow falls.
Thanks
I have a story and a half house which appears to need more insulation. I have the access to the insulation areas in my bedroom, one behind my bed and a door in my closet. I also have some kind of opening in the ceiling upstairs but there is no ladder for it. I am hoping that I can find someone who can do both the ceiling and the insulation but I have no idea of how it all works. I would prefer to stay in the $5,000.00 to $10,000 range.
Hi,
I am looking for someone to do the following work on my home.
Insulation attic - blown in to Hydro specifications. Home is 740 square feet.
Check and if necessary replace vents.
Repair attic entrance.
Crawl space - I had someone come in and do the walls and ceiling - he left before he finished the job.
Work left to be done;
Poly the floor - approx size is 25' X 18'
Insulate the ducts running through the crawl space.
Replace the entrance to the crawl space.
It's from the outside and only 24" X 18"
If this is a job your company can do and if you are interested please let me know.
