Custom built in 1988. Would like to remove a kitchen wall and create a more open space between living room, dining room and kitchen. Instead a 72 by 36 wall would separate the rooms.
Presently have a L shaped kitchen with an island. By removing the kitchen wall with a phone center on it, the island can be doubled in size and hopefully the small amount of storage space can be added to the end of the island.
The removal of the fluorescent lightling box would be great and would love to replace with potlights and pendants for a more modern feel.
The purpose of this reno is to update the tired 80s kitchen, open up the space on the main floor and be buyer ready in the event I choose to sell in 5 yrs. I am budget conscious, dont want the cheapest and certainly cant afford the best.
My kitchen is in dire need of a complete gut. New cabinets, flooring, lighting and appliances. I need someone who can (or has someone who can) work with electrical, and gas because the dishwasher needs to be moved to the other side of the sink (will open up a corner of cabinets it's currently blocking) and the stove is gas. The laundry/utility room is below with an open ceiling to run wires.
Counters will be laminate and flooring will be lvt.
We are looking to remove the kitchen and install an IKEA kitchen. All appliances except the dishwasher will stay in the same location. A larger fridge will be installed and the wall is already recessed but may need to be expanded to fit the larger fridge. We would like to remove a wall, or a portion of the wall depending on what is structurally possible to expand the island.

I am planning on buying an Ikea kitchen to upgrade our current look. We are basically changing out the existing cupboards and upgrading out appliances to fit in their current location. I also want to add a cupboard with counter along a smaller wall that currently has our microwave cart. to get a few more drawers. I would like the current kitchen removed and hauled away. Our installation time is flexible, however we want to take advantage of the ikea kitchen sale ending Aug 11. I don't think this is a huge project. Our kitchen area is smaller than a traditional 10"10 maybe a few plumbing changes under the sink to accommodate the new sink. Looking for a few approx. quotes. I want professionals with a written guarantee who stand behind their work!!!
I have ordered a small Ikea kitchen. This includes:
4 base cabinets
4 wall cabinets
1 range hood
1 slide-in range
1 fully integrated dishwaster
sink
countertop
cover panels
plith (toekick)
Additionally with this installation, I will need the old kitchen removed and disposed of.
There will be a need for the addition of electrical wiring for the range hood and dishwasher, and the plumbing to add in the dishwasher.
Please call if this project interests you.

Hello, I am looking for a quote to install a new kitchen sink. Details of the job: - remove old sink and base unit - remove old plaster from behind sink - upgrade plumbing (if necessary) - drywall, mud and paint area behind sink - remove heating vent cover/ notch trim work to create additional space for new sink - install new sink and base cabinet (already purchased from IKEA) The house was built in 1910, and while I can see copper water lines exposed in the basement, there may be some old plumbing that will need to be upgraded. If possible, looking to have a person come by one evening this week to inspect site and generate a quote. We are looking to hire someone for this project ASAP.
Thanks,
Evan
Kitchen requires - new window, new ceiling, new walls, reconstruction of countertops and location of sink, removal of current pantry and reconstruction of new pantry, built in dishwasher and microwave area, new countertops and flooring including entrance way, new storm door for main entrance and reconstruction and drywall of existing entrance and stairway to basement
Bathroom - new ceiling and ventilation for fan, new lighting, new tub, sink, vanity and flooring
The house was built in 1975 and both the kitchen and bathroom are original. However, the bathroom contains a newer tub surround but original tub.
The fan in the bathroom has been leaking and therefore has caused some damaged to the ceiling.
There was some water leaking into the kitchen by the window and therefore there is a hold in the ceiling where the water came in that needs to be repaired.
I have an older home, that I would like to remodel. The bathroom is old and dated. I would like to make it larger by knocking out a wall and extending it. The bath is off the kitchen and I would like to move the access (entrance) to it. Through this, I will change the kitchen layout as well. It will require new cabnets and flooring, some dry walling. My house currently has only one bathroom. I would like to add another to the basement area. The plumbing is old and will need some replacement. I require estimates for all projects.
Recently purchased a house but wanting to do mortgage plus improvements. Looking for a quote to remodel the kitchen and main bathroom. Galley style kitchen, approximately 10'x10', and the bathroom is about 8'x8' give or take. Preferred materials: attractive but affordable :-)
Attached are some jpeg photos of the current kitchen and bathroom situation.
We just purchased a 6 year home that has oak kitchen cabinets. The house is 1974 sq feet. We would like them to be stained to a darker color (espresso or a espresso/gray) color. We would like to know if this is possible or if we would need to replace the doors of the cabinets. Please provide quotes for both staining as well as door replacements.
Thanks
Gut the kitchen including surrounding walls to open the space into the dining room. Open walls surrounding area to back entrance, and walls around pantry. Move electrical and plumbing from existing outlets. Install ventilation, cabinets, (looking for Contemporary Oak with Ginger?) countertop (Corian), Sink (inset), flooring (tile).
This is a full gut, start from scratch. Once the walls are removed, the area will open into approximately 15'x12'. 9' pantry with room for fridge between cabinets.
I would love to come home to a new kitchen. Please help me make it happen.
- knock down top of cabinets (80's style that extends to the ceiling).
- stain or paint kitchen cabinets ( instead of replacing them), would like to keep cabinets since they are in good shape, they only need a refreshed look, also new hardware. -backsplash,
- new countertops
- new flooring that extends from kitchen (approx. 13 1/2 x 10 feet) into main floor bathroom. (approx. 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 feet)
- some electrical will be required.
- possible knocking down a quarter of a wall to open up kitchen.
- would like to have a peninsula counter.
We are possibly getting 2 other estimates, not sure about the preferred materials yet but would like an estimate on labour cost. Thank you
house built in 1978, i presume the kitchen is original but not sure, we want the floor redone as well and i'll be posting a seperate project for that because we'd like the entire main floor redone, very likely in wood. we have cabinets in our dining room that we would like to match as far as colour...doesn't need to be the exact same design though. One wall has a pantry and a microwave stand that we'd like to fill with cabinets and some countertop. we would like to keep the sink we have as well as the appliances. although the location of the appliances and sink could change depending on design concepts.
Custom construction and installation of a single kitchen cabinet, for which I have the door. (33 x 24 x 12)
Change all kitchen cabinet hinges from exposed to hidden hinges. (approximately 23 doors)
Veneer, or paneling the side of a cabinet. (33 x 12)
Tile back splash installation.
We are looking to entirely remodel our kitchen. The kitchen is original to the house build in 1956. The kitchen has a new fridge, new oven and new dishwasher all replaced in 2008. The cabinets are wood and in poor condition (we would like to replace with wood cabinets not high end maybe middle of the road), the countertop is laminate green (would like to replace with granite or granite look alike) and the floor is black and white tile in very poor condition (we would like to replace with tile). There is a ceiling fan but it does not exhaust properly from the kitchen we would like to replace with a hood fan. The kitchen is an L-Shape and approx. 160 square feet. It is very small. We would like to close in a window and add pot lights to the ceiling as well. We would like to determine if the wall between the kitchen and living room is a supporting wall, if not, we would like to tear it town and create an open concept.
I have a small galley kitchen in an older River Heights home which we own. Plumbing and electrical have been updated.
I am looking at redoing the walls in drywall and replacing cabinets, countertops and flooring as well as installing a fan over the stove.
I am not sure if removing the existing plaster would ideal or if simply drywalling over the existing g plaster would be the answer.
I am looking for some ideas, feedback and quotes as a time line.
I was looking at IKEA cabinets as the house is older and the next owners will probably tear it down so investing in an elaborate kitchen is not a wise investment.
Hi. We would like a contractor to come into our kitchen and give us our options for modernizing our 70's kitchen. Things we want to see in the plan:
1. change a closed 70's style kitchen to a more open concept.
2. Re-use and refurbish existing cabinetry.
3. Build an island in the kitchen (to be used as a dining option. no need for water access).
4. Painting the walls.
5. New flooring.
6. Replace existing lighting.
7. New counter top.
We are looking to completely redo our kitchen and dining area. I am still wavering between two new floor plans. Both which include removing a wall maybe two.
I would like to reuse the cabinetry I have possible refinish or reface with new doors, and install a new island. I have been thinking quartz counters or that new technique that looks and feels like stone but is not. We know what new appliances we want.
The kitchen and dining area is roughly 26x13 with a backyard patio door on the 13ft north end and a bow window on the 13ft south end. There is a door that comes in from the garage on the East wall about 3 feet from the north wall and the West side is open (or will be ) to the living room.
I need flooring, counters, cabinets, someone to refinish cabinets and install, a plumber, and I might have an electrician (but am open to suggestions).
new countertops - i have prices on sile stone (black galaxy)installed for approx 80.00/sq foot, new flooring, changing single sink to double sink which means adding or modifying my current cabinets which i plan on keeping. also possibly wanting to take down a wall and open up kitchen to living room area.
We are considering a kitchen reno in our 8 year old home (Kensington Homes - Manchester floor plan). Ideally we would like to expand the kitchen (into the existing dining room/living room combo) and add an island/penisula. If possible we would like to re-use our existing cabinetry (Kitchen Craft - Maple) and add only what is necessary for expansion, however new flooring and counter tops are required. Current kitchen sq ft is roughly 100 (+ 87 sq ft for dinnette).
