We are interested in completing our basement (approx 330 sq ft), converting it into a family room. At the same time we are also considering redoing the floor on the main floor (325 sq ft). The house is approximately 16 years old and the basement is as the builder left it. We are looking for a budget to mid-range renovation regarding finishes.
The upstairs living room currently has bleached hardwood floor on it and we would like to replace it with an extremely durable laminate of some sort. Again, budget to mid-range
Small walkout basement in 14 yr old townhouse in Aurora, ON. Approx. 500 sq.ft. Previously renovated by DIY'er. Includes previously installed 3 piece bath. Floor tiled up to laudry/mechanical room. Room sectioned off.
Space it to be used as living space for teenager, possibly a work out area. Looking for open concept (not rooms), with easy to clean floors (no carpet), possibly tiled ceiling (for access), possibly pot lights. Properly close off laundry/mechanical room, redirect dryer vent back to outside (hole previously covered up), open staircase and maybe cover the original step and risers (but no carpet). Currently bathroom requires a new shower box, potentially a new toilet bowl, possibly required re-routing of vent. Storage space required for tools, hardware and such (under staircase?), and more.
To save some cash I would like to do some of the tear out, however I do need advise as to what needs to go before I start.
Job may also include a rebuild of the deck in back.
I am planning to finish my basement. I have a house 1400 square feet. The basement is partially finished by previous owner. But there is much work to be done such as constructing the walls, ceiling, flooring, electrical etc.
I am wondering about the cost involved and the time frame for the job.
We live in a 15 year old home with an unfinished basement - the basement is in the same condition it was when we bought the house new, as the builder left it. It's a 2400 square foot home, so the basement is approximately 1200 square feet.
We would like to finish the basement for more living space. Ideally we would like to have a rec room/TV room, an office, a bathroom and a workshop area.
We would like the office to be approximately 10 feet by 10 feet with a carpet floor.
The rec room/TV area we would prefer hardwood floors.
In the bathroom, we would like a toilet sink and stand-up shower with tile flooring and walls.
The workshop can be left in rough drywalling shape (muded and taped, but not painted), with a sealer on the concrete floor.
We are looking to get this work done in the near future.
Not a huge job approx 650sqft.
