Carpet Steps to upper floor
- 1250 sq. ft basement
- All drywall completed
- All plumbing completed
- All supplies purchased
- The following is required for 100% completion:
- Laminate flooring installation
- Doors (x7) installation
- Kitchen counter tops and cabinets need to be built
- Washroom tiles and all appliances (i.e. toilet; vanity; and shower) need to be installed
- Minor details such as wood ledges for half wall and stone wall plates for fireplace need to be installed
We are looking for a reputable contractor who can finish all of the above, we want to go to one contractor for all work.
Our house is 2.5 years old (builder: Townwood Homes). We are the first owners. We have approximately 600 square feet of unfinished basement with rough-in plumbing for a bathroom. We would like the basement finished so that there is:
- one 10' x 12' bedroom
- one 3-piece bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) possibly 5' x 8'
- laundry room, storage space, and furnace area closed off from the finished area but can remain unfinished
- the rest of the basement would be finished open space.(approximately 1/2 of the basement)
- stairs going down to the basement are already dry-walled by the builder
Preferred materials:
open area and bedroom floor: laminate that looks like hardwood
bathroom floor and shower walls: ceramic tile
shower: one-person shower enclosed with glass
sink: rectangular self rimming or vessel style at least 26" x 16" (large enough to hold a baby bath seat) with storage under sink
We are expecting a grandchild in March 2018 and would like the basement finished by January 2018 or earlier. We are looking for materials that are easy to clean and durable, yet relatively inexpensive. We are open to suggestions to keep cost down.
I would like a basement renovation with a 3 pc bathroom.
House is approx 1800 sq ft with an unfinished basement
Would like a kitchenette if budget would allow it.
Laminate for the floor.
Have a pool table, which I could keep or sell depending on the design.
The plan could be an in law suite.

Looking to build a basement apartment with 1 bedroom, a full bathroom, laundry, a study, and kitchen in a brand new semi-detached house. Laminate or vinyl floors. Laundry and bathroom is already roughed-in. Rough layout is in the image, square footage is decently accurate, maybe off by a few inches.
Size: Its a L shaped unfinished basement with an approximate area of 663 sq feet.
Side Entrance Door- (Ground level; no Excavation work required) with some adjustments to the existing steps.
Bathroom- That includes one stand-up shower, 2 piece toilet, vanity with faucet.
Bedroom
Kitchen- Kitchen Cabinets, counter-top, sink, faucet, electrical points for appliances.
Laundry area with all the necessary connections/electrical/ducts etc.
Laminate flooring in Living, Bedroom and Kitchen.
All electrical and plumbing requirements.
I have 900 sqft unfinished basement in Brampton area that needs to be built a legal basement apartment (needs --living room, 02 bedrooms, kitchen, washroom and laundry), Please advise price and estimated time with city permit.
Please note:
- 04 windows in basement that need to convert in legal windows.
- No need side-entrance, it is already there.
Thanks
We have had a few quotes and still looking for the right contractor for the job, lookin to minimize time, keeping the project simple. Basement is not finished.
About 900 square feet
laminate floor
some potlights
small bathroom
most of the space to be kept open, maybe close off one area for a den type room
trying to work with a budget between 15-20k and determine what can be done for that range
Basement Size that it says on MLS is 4.6 M x 3.2 M. I believe the unifinished storage area space is not included in that size. What I want to do is take down the one wall that seperates from the storage and laundry room area and pull the wall forward to make room for a bedroom and a small bathroom. Doesnt need to be to big just livable. and the rest of the space to be used for a home entertainment area. There are a few support beams and polls that I would like to enclose and replace the ceiling with drywall instead of the removable pieces it is now. This is an old house so I need to do a rough in for a bathroom and make room for the laundry washer and dryer as well. It is little space to work with but I believe it can be made very nice and all the space available can be utilized.
So overall I need to create Two rooms and in doing so shrink one. I need a bathroom roughed in and built, and also maybe the wall reinforced to hold a 52' Sony Bravia LCD television. Also there is a gas fireplace right smack in the middle that i need to work around. I also need Pot lights installed or track lighting in the bedroom, bathroom, and main area. Also a few extra electrical outlets and light switches put in. IF there is space as well I would like a small servery area for a bar fridge and a countertop.
I am looking to save money anywhere I can starting with Labour, so I am willing to do the job myself and with the help of family or friends in the fields, or to hire somebody for the right price.
Let me know any input please.
Thanks
Chris
I would like estimates to complete a basement. It is already partially finished (~350sqft) with a carpeted rec room and bedroom, along with a 3 piece washroom. What I need done is:
1) Tiling of 6'x12' area for kitchen (also removal of current carpet)
2) Installation of kitchen cupboards, sink and exhaust. The rough in for the kitchen plumbing is already there. Also some electrical work so that the stove/fridge can operate.
3) Installation of 2 walls (drywall) and a door to enter basement
4) Installation of a side door entrance (approx. 3-4ft digging required) to go down stairs to basement.
5) Complete dry wall installation of unfinished portion (13' x 22') which is already insulated (not framed). Addition of a separating wall in this section to create a storage room. Laminate flooring in this section too.
6) Removal of carpet and installation of laminate flooring in living areas (~450sqft) and bedrooms (~1000sqft)
I understand this would only be a rough estimate but anything would be appreciated.
Thanks
I have an unfinished basement and looking to have it finished with a 3 pc Bathroom (vanity, toilet and shower) Bedroom with a walk-in closet, main family area. There is a crawl space I would like to have access too which is located directly under the staircase. In addition, I have the laundry area in the basement which I would like to re-locate to the laundry area (previous owner had builders put in basement) laundry area is not ventilated for the dryer or contains plumbing. In the existing laundry area in the basement I would like to have a kitchen area built (galley like) which would contain fridge, stove and sink.
I am looking at putting a subfloor and lay laminate flooring and would need about 35 electrical points.
i have probably a 1,000 sq. ft basement - house is five years old.
I would like a laundry area with storage, laminate countertop above machines - shelves above for storage
Full bathroom, preferably a standing shower with a sitting area
Furnace area has to be sound proofed.
Open area - no bedroom
laminate strip flooring, pot lights electrical for sound system
stairs have to be laminated
crawl space underneath stairs have to be closed off - there is enough space for a coat closet beside it.
nothing fancy, but should be done professionally and neatly and timely....
Our basement was damaged due to a sewer backup in July. Our insurance company had a company come in and clean and remove the affected material. Unfortunately I have been informed that they are backed up and suggested us to find our own contractor but they will first need us to send in a quote. They will need the following:
Floor plan of affected area
Detailed quote for material & labour from licensed contractor with liability
Our basement is small approx. 700sqft as half is crawlspace which was not affected.
Please let me know if you are able to quote.

We recently had flooding in our basement. The area where the leakage occurred has been repaired.
We need to remove and replace all drywall, insulation and wood framing along one wall that measures approximately 25 ft. long by 7 ft high. There are 2 small basement windows along the wall.
We need to know approximately how long the work would take and how much it would cost.
I am in the last step in process of purchasing a property and will close in late January 2020. I am looking for a contractor who can finish up the basement which is currently unfinished. I would like to create a bedroom, add flooring, add full bathroom, close the furnace with door, potentially create a laundry room/area.
I may also want to change the countertops for the kitchen and two bathrooms. May need to change the tiling for both bathrooms and main kitchen.
I would like to know the breakdown of cost separately for the following:
1) Separate Entrance
2) Kitchen Counter Top change
3) Kitchen tile change and adding backsplash
4) 2X Bathroom countertop change
5) 2X Bathroom tile change
6) Adding a bedroom in basement, put flooring in basement, add full bathroom in basement, cover furnace and create a laundry area in basement.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I look forward to a detailed quote from you and based on whether I supply the raw materials how will the cost differ.
Hi, we are taking possession of a home we bought in Brampton on June 28 and wanted to do some renovations. The basement (a bedroom and bathroom need renovation) and also make a new bathroom (toilet and sink only) in the main floor. We also need a wall taken down between 2 bedrooms to make 1 bedroom.
We would like basement to be finished with drywall (close off furnace, close off laundry room, close off storage area). Install lighting and electrical.
For the kitchen we want to seal off one entrace from open concept living room and either seal it completely or create a wider window and half wall into dining room. From the picture it is the door way on the left close to the fridge.
Hi I am looking to do my basement. I am buying a resale home, which is about 4.5 years old....its a semi detached......approx 1500 sq feet...just looking to do laminate flooring, drywall, electrical....and maybe a quote to put in a 2 piece washroom.....since the house is 1500 sq feet I would assume the basement is approx 750 sq feet.....just looking to do a laminate that is cheap and can hold a pool table.....I would need the job done for June 22nd to 24th....since we are moving in on the 25th and getting the keys on the 21st.....the basement is rectangular and opened....The house is occupied by the original owners and I cannot show the basement untill the day I get the keys which is on the evening of June 21st....
