My home is in Brampton, ON and I am looking for a contractor who can make below the ground entrance to my basement from my backyard by the back wall of my house as per the drawings that will be approved by the City of Brampton. I am attaching a picture just to give an idea how the entrance should look like. I would need a qualified, reliable and reputable contractor for this job who has done a few of such entrances and I would like to see those entrances before awarding the job. I would also want the contractor to visit my home and give me a free estimate for this job.
Hello everyone,
We are looking to have our basement built per city of Brampton by-laws, and codes. Currently its just an open area with concrete walls, and concrete floor. No drywalls, nothing. It is going to need a separate entrance built from side/rear of the house as well.
I believe our main floor and second floor equates to a total of about 2200sq ft. So I am guessing the basement itself would be close to 1000 sq ft? Ideally we would like to have 2 decent size bedrooms (or maybe one bigger than the other), living area, kitchen, and a 3 piece washroom built into it. And if possible, a small laundry space as well. I believe the basement does have electrical and plumbing down there. The house is about 14 years old.
What should we be looking to spend to get a legal, turn-key ready basement? Legal of course. Including the cost of permits, drawings, separate entrance, and finished basement space. Whats the expected timeline? Assuming the construction begins sometime mid September this year.
we are looking to hire a contractor to build a legal 1 bedroom basement apartment in one of our residential homes in Brampton.
the basement is approx. 700 sq feet and is unfinished - house was built in 1970.
it has a separate entrance and an upgraded electrical panel to handle the load of a second unit. bathroom and kitchen will require full plumbing installation as no rough ins currently exist. We require the contractor to be experienced with the legalization of basement apartments, with the permit process, blueprints ,inspections and building codes. If you would like to bid on this project and come inspect the property please email an estimated quote based on square footage and references to info@lbcproperties.ca if considered you will be contacted to set up a site visit.
all the best,
Build second bedroom in the basement (1 1/2 walls, trim, paint, door).
Also have a need for small contractor jobs as follows:
Hang a picture above the stairs,
Install window well covers,
Replace curtain rod over sliding glass doors,
Recommend and install / put together shelving unit in laundry room,
Clean out eavestroughs,
Hi, I have a few questions as to building a basement with a room and a washroom in a new home, I am purchasing a new home and would like to get the basement done.
1. Do I have to wait to get the basement finished
2. What are the pros and cons of finishing the basement right away after purchase
3. If building basement requires a wait period, can I add a room and a washroom within the garage as a addition, do I need a permit for this
I am located in Brampton , please let me know if anyone has suggestions, highly appreciated.
Hi,
I own a detached house , 1 car garage but with 3 car parking in the driveway. I am looking for a contractor to build a legal 2nd unit basement apartment.
The basement should be a 2 bed with 3 piece bathroom and kitchen - laminate flooring. The entrance to the basement is through the garage
I am looking for a quote which is all inclusive - getting the permit from the city, the build as well as the final inspection from city to certify it as a legal 2nd unit.
I have attached the pics of the basements . Thanks
A 600 sg.ft. unfinished basement to be converted into a legal basement apartment. To construct a new exterior poured concrete stair and entrance with enclosure to access the basement. To finish the basement with a studio bedroom/office, living/dining area, kitchen, washroom, laundry and to enclose existing furnace. Also need to include installation of new hard wire smoke detectors with strobe in all existing bedrooms and interconnect with existing. And to also provide new hard wire smoke detector with strobe to the new second unit and interconnect to the rest of the house. Finish materials to be laminate for floors, washroom to have shower and tiled, ceiling and walls connected to the house to be fire rated and with sound insulation. Existing exterior walkway from driveway to new basement entrance to be stamped concrete.
I am looking for a contractor who had previous experience in constructing a legal basement apartment. Who is comfortable in providing a quote, fair, legal contract and can commit to a schedule. The project will start next year, month of July. I will apply for permit on January 2017. I am the owner of the house and conducting my due diligence this year.
Hello,
I need to convert my builder built basement into a legal second unit. The major work that needs to be done include installing a separate entrance in the back yard and installing two egress windows. I already have the plans and building permit and I can share with any contractor that is able to give me a quote.
Thanks
Niro
