We are looking at building a deck in my backyard. Following are the dimensional details.
1. Deck will be approx. 14ft x 12ft
2. Patio door is at 4ft elevation from the ground. It will require however many no. of steps.
3. We have nice lookout basement windows and want minimum blockage to the sunlight through those windows. Thus, do not want to close the deck to the ground.
4. Put gravel underneath the deck so no vegation/grass can grow
5. Due to the height, the deck will require railing. Thinking of wooden railing with black steel vertical bars.
At present, the material of choice is the pressure treated wood; however, should you have any suggestion for better material at reasonable price, we are open to recieve the quote for that as well.
Location: South west Brampton
Scope of project:
Design & Build of 2 Decks for two separate properties
Possible Design and build of 2 Pergola's for 2 seperate properties
1 @ (W)14' x (L) 32' + Pergola
1 @ - TBA + Pergola
Notes:
360 Design Build Firms:
A visual representation ( not to scale ) of the proposed 14' x 32 deck will be made available to firms who are interested in securing this contract during the site visit for the purpose of input and analysis.
The firm soliciting for this business must be able to create the appropriate drawings to obtain all necessary build permits within the city of Brampton, and be able to build the decks.
I am not looking to hire a general contractor who will in turn sub-contract out this business. My preference is to hire a firm that has the ability to execute the entire project within the scope of their resources.
The company must carry valid insurance, and be able to provide 3 callable references.
I have access to a supply chain that would allow me to purchase wholesale pressure treated deck wood. So long as the proposed business can match the pricing that is available to me, I am more than happy to buy from them, otherwise I will be supplying the lumber only.
Sub-Contractors / Trades:
If you are interested in submitting your quotes for specific job requirements ( ie post support digging, and concrete pouring, renderings , design ect ) I will be happy to keep all of your information on file should I decide to act as the general contractor and sub out the work respectively.
I am interested in getting a quote for a deck based on the attached drawing. Quote should be based on the following:
1. Material – Pressure treated wood
2. Balusters – metal railing
3. Dry deck – (can sit under the deck when it rains and not get wet)
4. Lights every second steps on the stairs
5. Location: Brampton
I am in Brampton and require an above deck built in my backyard. The size of the home is 2100 sq. ft. The basement is a walk out so the deck will be approximately 6 feet above ground. Looking for 8x10 with aluminum railings and no stairs that lead into the backyard. I need the project to be done by July 8th. Please email if you are able to assist with this project and kindly include your estimate for the cost of the in the email.
We are looking for a contractor to remove an existing small deck, and build a larger, second level deck. The deck and measurements are already designed and approved. A building permit from the City of Brampton has been obtained, and thus the selected contractor must be aware that the City Inspectors will come by during the construction to ensure the submitted deck plans and measurements are being followed.
We are trying to get a budgetary # for a job next summer (2016). The sq. ft. is approx. 350 sq. ft (16' depth x 22' width). Not sure if we want to go with cedar or composite material for deck material, with pressure treated for structural components. I have included some pictures of the backyard, and 2 designs which we are thinking about. The PDF files actually have the BOM to help in costing also. One note: we will build only 24" off grade, so no railings will be required. W will need a building permit also.
Thank you for your time.
Have a backyard in need of TLC. What I would like is to have the portion of the yard viewed in the picture where the patio stones are shown (All the patio stones have now already been removed). I would like to have a simple wooden deck build (no rails etc) with a step up into the house at the patio doors.
The deck would be rectangular - nothing fancy - and be approximately 18 feet wide along the house and extending into the yard about 10 feet.
New house (Jan. 2006). Backyard backs onto ravine with walking path, separated by a chain-link fence. Wrought iron fence separates houses on both sides. Backyard size is 1,400 sq.ft. (40' wide x 35' depth). Currently a small deck (8' x 5') out from kitchen patio doors, ~3' off ground (3 steps).
We are looking to put in a two-tiered deck with as little vertical railing as possible. There are two oversized basement windows (proposed deck-size would likely not extend to one of these) with window wells - hoping not to block too much natural light into these windows.
Hello I am looking for a quote to perform work in my backyard. I live in a 3 story stacked townhouse.
This is slab to grade townhome, I am looking for a contractor to complete a upper and lower deck, and also a fence. Sizes are below. Would like this project to start towards end of May. So this can be used all summer long. I am the owner of the house.
Upper and lower deck sizes.
Upper deck 20FT by 12FT
Lower deck 21FT by 18FT
Fence:
21 Ft along the sides
22 ft across the back.
Installing wooden fence in the backyard to separate the backyard and driveway. Would require: posts, footings, decorative gate with latch. See pictures, length of fence approximately 40 ft long.
Also build small step down deck area to existing deck (basically size of where hosts bed is, would act as step up to deck)
This deck has 2 level 1st level is 7x8 about 1 foot high, the second level is 21x10 and about 6" high.
I have post hole dug and the post set in concert from a post hole company. But need a handyman to build out the actual deck. Would prefer to pay by the hour, but will also pay by the job if needed.
Hello,
We moved into our house 2 years ago and are working with a functional deck provided by the builder. I have a huge untouched backyard that is pie shape. We back onto a ravine and would really like a great deck designed that would allow us to really enjoy this backyard. I actually would not have a square footage because I really need some suggestions as to how far out and wide I should go with the deck. Please Please help!
Hi,
We need a small retaining wall built in our backyard. The width of the wall is 22 ft and the height would be around 1.5ft. It is at the far end of our backyard. We want to plant perennial plants in that area.
The width of the floating deck would be 18 to 20 ft.
I have attached a few ideas.
We want this done in the spring of this year.
I live in Brampton (Huttonville) and am looking to put in a wooden staircase down the hill in my backyard. The job is quite extensive and would require someone to come out and take a look. There isn't any clear access way from the top of the hill but there is access way from the foot of the hill. My neighbors on both sides of me currently have between 50-70 steps to get down to their places.
I am looking to have a few small landings say every 10 steps with a larger deck with space for patio furniture halfway down the hill. There is no real deadline for this project but I would like it completed by late Fall.
Hello,
How much would it cost to build a simple 10 X 14 ft pressure treated wood deck which is 2 feet off the ground.
Also, how much would it cost to pour a simple 20 X 3 ft walkway in the front yard beside the driveway. Grass is already removed.
An estimate via email would be preferred. No need for too much detail, just a quick estimate would be fine.
Warm Regards,
Gerald
Need our deck rebuilt and new one built to the side of it. The existing deck's supports are good, the outer board, deck boards, railings and stairs will need to be replaced. We are looking to use pressure treated wood.
The top deck will have stairs with a landing pad ending roughly 2 feet off the ground, when the second deck will start, less than 2 feet off the ground. The ground from wall where second deck will be has a slight slope down.
Please call or email for any clarifications needed.
1) Remove top layer of recently installed pre-treated wood deck rail (screws) to expose deck posts.
2) Horizontal cutting of three 4 x4 deck posts (pre-treated wood) to exact horizontal level.
3) Cut and fasten three (pre-treated wood) 6" post extensions to the 4x4's.
4) Resize top layer of pre-treated wood deck rail and re-attach with screws.
Hi,
My name is Jo-Ann. I am a single mother of 2 sons and I am on permanent disability. Because of this, I am living on a very tight budget. I have some money put aside for some renovations.
I was wondering if you would be available to provide me with a quote for my project.
The project that I would like to receive a quote on would be to modify my current deck to install a hot tub (including pouring the concrete foundation), plus build a gazebo around the tub and make it mosquito/bug-free (my preference would be to have it useable year-round). Plus, depending on the cost, I want to either change the boards that are rotten OR change all the decking boards. I would also need to have a set of stairs built and change all of the railings as they are no longer sturdy enough to keep.
I currently have an above ground pool (12 x 24) with a deck that goes around a part of the pool. I would like to have all of this removed as well (i.e. deck + pool).
I would love to do the work myself however I am no longer capable of doing any construction work, due to my disability.
I look forward to hearing back from you to schedule a time to meet up to discuss my project.
Sincerely,
Jo-Ann

Expand from the current 8' x 4' deck to 300 sq ft. Would like to use something other than PT for the floor. Railing would be white aluminum. Full drawings are required and will need condo corp approval. Builder must apply for building permit and supply COI AND WSIB. Easy access to back but contractor is responsible to make good any common elements damaged during construction.
