I have an existing 12x12 raised (about 5 feet of the ground) 15 years old deck I want to replace it with a 16x16 and lower it to about 1-1/2 ft. off the ground, no railing but rafter on 2 sides if possible for privacy. The old deck will be removed by owner.
I think it will need about 3-4 steps from patio door going onto the deck. prefer half moon steps not streight.
I have a backyard that needs the deck rebuild and extended. new soil has been added to the land, trees removed and now need to have new sod and I am thinking gravel in areas that will not have sold.
All the backyard has currently is a Pergola and 3 large trees currently.
It needs redesign and rebuild.
Please contact Anand to review the work.
We would like a deck to be built in our backyard. Currently there are patio stones, in it's place. We would like our deck approx 15 ft X 15 ft, made of pressure treated or cedar wood. A couple of benches and planters around the ends. Also railing around at least half of it. It would be a low deck. The house is 8 years old.
I'm looking to replace my old wooden railing on the front porch with something new. The area is not large and has 2 steps on each side. Approx a total of 16 feet if the stairs are included. I will be removing the old railings as I will be painting the landing; all that needs to be done is installation.
Hi
We have an UNCOVERED 5 feet x 4 feet balcony that has (i guess) membrane on the floor. Builder also placed some wooden tiles on it. Now one side of the floor has become soft. We need to get this fixed (Replace it with ceramic Tiles is also an option).
Let me know if you do this kind of work.
Thanks.
Current patio is 8' 4" x 12' 8" and will be increased to 14' 2" x 22' 4". There are 2 patio doors at the back of the house that will also require brick steps onto the patio (remove existing steps and patio stones under bbq). At the south end of the patio (centre picture to the right of the bbq) there will probably be a need for a small retaining wall due to the slope of the property. The retaining wall will most likely need to be 14' 2".
This is in a townhouse complex in south Brampton.
The front of my house has an elevated front entrance over a single-car garage. The entrance consists of a bi-level stairway of concrete steps leading to a small landing and then a concrete porch, approximately 4'x8'. The front is brick covered but due to water damage, the bricks were falling apart. Partial demolition of the porch and bricks has been completed. We need the whole structure removed and replaced with a similar structure. The new porch would not necessarily need to be brick covered. Attached are pictures of the existing structure. Construction needs to be completed within 45 days of this posting.
My front porch of my house is a hot mess. Yes, the stairs on both sides and another section needs to be replaced. This house is about 7 years old and the builders did not use treated wood so now the wood has rot. I am planning toput my house up on the market any day now and this is one of the most important if not the most important task that needs to be done. THere is 4 steps so give or take 5' on each side that needs to be replaced. I also am planning to use wood, which I know is available at Rona. I will paint the wood myself.
Please let me know asap as this is an urgent projet.
Currently have a 4' by 6 ' porch with 2 pre-fab concrete stairs and no railing. The height from the top stair to the landing is about 8" which is the biggest issue but in general the height, width of the stairs and the fact there is no railing is an issue for our aging senior relatives.
Need to look into options to raise the tstairs and possibly reduce the "riser" with either new pre-fab stairs 5" or lower and/or slightly modify the walkpath incline. Plus need railings installed.
Need this done asap.
I would like an estimate for a pressure treated deck. Size(s) as follows - 12'x19' main deck and a raised(6" higher) upper deck 12'x10'. These are to be attached in a L shape configuration. top surface of both decks to be made with 2x6's.
With thanks,
Richard
I have a deck that was stained 2 years ago with 2 coats of colour stain, i would like to have it stripped and re stained with a similar colour!
The reason why i want it stripped first is because the first coat was applied to early after new board were installed and the first stain started peeling in spots another company was called a year later and they applied 2 coats of new stain/sealer and it looks uneven and ugly! The deck is 25' by 15' Plese e mail a detail quote. Thank You! Lu
The former homeowner brilliantly decided to incorrectly install indoor tile outside with shoddy grout and not have an overhang to allow water to flow off my front porch correctly. It's a complete guy and rebuild job. I believe underneath is more than likely wood framing with either plywood or concrete board as it sounds hollow.
There are 2 x posts that hold up the roof of course as it is a front porch.
Also, there's likely a bees nest under the porch, so...
We're thinking of some slate flagstone for the finished product but are open to ideas. I'm more than happy to help with the demo work, maybe not the bee removal (likely call in an expert to move the hive if it's a fair size as they are endangered).
We need to have soil and limestone screenings removed to lower the material around the house down to below the first layer of bricks on an early eighties house. We want to construct a deck which will be quite close to the ground along most of the back of the house with potentially a pergola over part of the deck. Estimating the length of the deck at 28 feet along the house. One part of the deck at about 8 feet deep and 12 feet wide will need to have about 1 foot of dirt and limestone screenings removed to get the top of the deck to the door threshold. The other part of the deck can be a step up at 16x16 feet but some regrading is needed away from the house to reduce soil in contact with lower coarses of e bricks. Pressure treated wood only. Proper concrete footings below the frost line. Full step along two sides of he 16x16 foot. No railings. Some large rocks will need to be moved and relocated on property.
Hi,
I have a 12 x 16 feet deck which has a sun room built on it. The structure is about 20 years old. I recently replaced the door and windows. It is a low deck. The deck needs to be reinforced at the front with vertical posts under the deck. Primarily, I want the the deck reinforced at the front.
Later, I want to insulate the underside of the deck with 5.5" Rockwell insulation in the joists with plywood support underneath. It may need a retaining wall to control the frost. The inside of the deck floor may need to be closed with under layment and vinyl floor or just plywood.
I would like to replace the existing deck with the exact same set up. I believe that the foundation, footings and framing would not have to be replaced. Therefore, this would amount to replacing everything above the footing, foundation and footings. Also, there are 2 sets of stairs (2 steps each) that would have to be replaced.
I need someone to sand lightly my backyard deck. It's about 15 ft x 15 ft. I've already used chemicals to strip it so I just need about 1/2 hour sanding on the deck floor only and 3 steps (not any of the rails or siding). The job can be done at your convenience. I only want to spend about 60 bucks because only 1/2 hour is needed and it doesn't have to be totally sanded bare. Just the rough spots taken out that the power washer caused.
Home owner needs help:
Our front 5.5’x7’ cedar deck, with solid foundation needs single step, three section, wrap around deck stairs. A corner of the deck will need to be re-angled.
A retired, or semi retired, carpenter with deck experience is preferred as we will assist if possible.
The pic attached shows the look we are trying to achieve
Ist floor: L shaped deck with vertical part:20'x12'(depth) and horizontal part 10'x6' Total area of a floor 300sq ft. Front width 30' (20+10). Glass windows all around instead of railing
IInd floor: Same as above. So total deck area 600 sq ft. Glass/Steel railing. About 36 linear ft.
Circular stairs to both levels
Each level abot 9' in height
Concrete Patio at Grounf Floor: 300 sq ft

Age of the House: 5-6 Years
I know for addition there are some by-laws from the City. My plan is to first discuss the issue with a contractor, if needed I will try to solve the City issue first and then go for construction. As far as I know have seen in the City website there should not a requirement of a permit but I want to make sure this first.
