The house is approx. 6 years old. We are looking to finish our basement to give us some more useable space, particularly for our one year old son. We are considering two options, either finishing the entire space with a family room, 2 piece bathroom, laundry room, and storage/utility room; or only finishing the main family room area. Key factor is time to complete as we would like to see it done by Christmas. We are looking for a qualified contractor who will take our plans and execute with quality workmanship.
Complete demo, of original 1960's paneling, Laminate flooring (covering 9x9 tile below), removal of original drop ceiling. The current foot print is one area finished (described above) and second area unfinished.
The second unfinished area has HVAC system, waterheater, and laundry as well as a 2 piece bathroom.
The job would need to remove the load bearing wall (load carried through the cinderblocks on the floor- install a beam, frame and relocate HVAC and install water-on-demand as well as change pitch/elevation of back stairs. Total job for the basement is roughly 600 sq feet.
Finishes: drywall, carpet, update electrical, pot lights.
Thanks
Need to complete the basement in my house. The home is 5yrs old and the basement is unfinished. I have some ideas about what we'd like to do but also looking for some input. Most likely looking for at a 2 pc bathroom, kids area, family area, some storage space. Also considering a bar but need to see how that would fit into the layout.
right now just alot of junk in the basement and a pool table.
I have a partially finished basement. I would like to finish part of the other basement by adding a bedroom that will be approximately 10 by 10 feet and adding a washroom that would include a mini jacuzzi 5 foot by 32 inches, a toilet, shower, and sink. The square footage of the house is approximately 2300 square foot. The house is approximately 25 years old. The expectation of the bedroom is nothing extravagant. Carpet on the floor and basic lighting.
Hello! I am looking to renovate approx 4-500 feet of my basement complete with a bathroom (with stand up shower) and possibly a kitchen if the budget allows. I will require pot lights and a fuse panel upgrade from fuses to breakers. I am the property owner and would like to be able to purchase materials myself if they will provide me with some savings. I may also require some tile work on the main level of the entryway and 1/2 bathroom and the upstairs bathroom with a tub enclosure.
Location - burlington
Age of home - 20 - 25yrs
basement size - 25 x 36
Project scope - Finish roughly 500 sq ft including a 3 piece bath.
All framing, insulation, electrical, plumbing and drywall.
Carpet on floor except bath where tile will be used.
Plain drywall on ceilings.
Include price for installation of gas fire place (to be determined)
NOTES
*Exclude all trim and painting.
*2 hairline cracks in walls and 1 rebar hole to be sealed, not leaking.
* Stairs to be changed from L shape to U shape
Hello,
I am posting a renovation job on Handy Canadian regarding a basement renovation.
I have a completed basement now and would like to gut the entire thing. The layout is poorly done and there is no bathroom; which I would like to add.
As stated in the questions asked, my main concern is quality. I am looking for midrange finishes done professionally. A bathroom with a shower and an area for a large screen television. I have done research on what a renovation cost in today's market and feel that I am in the correct budget mind set.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Matt

Hello! I am looking to have my basement demo'd with walls put in place and include a bathroom with a shower. If my budget allows I would also like to include the stairs leading to the basement refinished as well. The basement is approx 500 sq ft.
I am also hoping to find someone who can tile the front entryway of my home - approx 80 sq ft and the upstairs bathroom (very small floor space - probably only 30 sq ft) but I am also looking to tile a portion of the walls and tile inside the tub. I have already purchased the tile.
Thank you, Tracy
I have a basement renovation that has been in need of finishing for almost 15 years now. I have oak wainscotting that I would like kept, the lighting houses will be already installed and electrical run to them, and the ceiling is already insulated. The following is what needs to be completed:
(approx 1,000 sq ft.)
Ceiling drywalled, taped, painted
Floor tiled
Walls painted
A bit of work but nothing a crew couldn't get done in a few days. Looking to have someone start in about a week-two week's time once I have moved the furniture out and purchased lights, etc. Willing to pay cash for a discount.
We just had a flood in our basement and we need to refinish it. Part of the basement is already finished the other part needs to be finished. We need the contractor to quote on a 300 square foot finished space for insurance purposes but we would also like a second quote for a total area of about 600 square feet. We would like to move laundry and plumbing in our basement.
we just had a minor flood in our basement caused by the quick thaw. My husband and I are looking at having our basement renovated. Bathroom installed, closet. Wall taken down to make it bigger if possible. Closet added to the guest room. We also instead of sealing our basement from the outside are looking at getting our basement sealed from the inside.? with such a long wish list that has been on the go, my husband and i are considering getting our project done sooner than later due to the flood.
We were one of the houses with sewage flooding in Burlington, The entire finished basement of our elevated range house was 'gutted' to 2 x 4's. The basement includes a 16x24' family room, 12x23' 'office' 14x16' laundry room, 8x4' bathroom, crawl space & closet, The garage walls also need sheeting (tyvek?). Baseboard electrical outlets were damaged and were aluminium so the entire house needs copper wiring & new electrical panel.
We would like the walls in the family room & office dry-walled and burber carpets for flooring.
Completly Unfinished basement job. Curious and ready to get this project started. Below are some things that I would like or need done for a 650 Sq ft basement. Looking for a price and time frame.
- only electrical is for Washer and Dryer. New Electrical Box and would need outlets done.
- water main is in the right hand corner....wonder if could move it to the corner with the Tankless Water Heater (upper left).
- interested in a bathroom to be combine with the laundry area, a stand up shower at least.
- some 2x4 repairs as older wood is split
- no dryer wall up yet
- no flooring
Let me know on an estimate or I can review your company/business. Thank you. Smaller basement but would like to finish this unfinished basement
Unfinished basement approx. 600 sq feet. Would like new 3 piece bathroom with walk in shower (no doors) tiled approx 36.5 sq feet. Boxed in furnace/ water heater area with louvered doors (ceiling unfinished) approx 5' 5" x 10' 7". Built in cabinets to house washer and dryer with cabinets for storage, counter top and small bar sink.(12'8")
Walls to be framed, insulated, dry walled. Ceiling probably needs to be a drop ceiling. Pot lights.
Flooring either ceramic tile or floating wood.(not too sure)
Stairs to be finished with risers and railing and boxed in below or storage.
Would $45 per square foot be reasonable?
