Basement renovation/completion.
Our basement is approximately 1000sq feet. We currently have one room and a powder room.
We require: electrical upgrade, flooring, sound and regular insulation, stairs, and ceiling installation.
Looking for ideas and quotes on best use of space or design.
We are looking for some quotes as we are not sure what we are doing yet. We need drywall repair (4 larger spots, 1 small) potlights (8, already there just fixed), trim for entire basement (1050 square feet), Carpet for 2 sets of stairs (10 stairs and 14 stairs) a bannister going up stairs and along top floor. (Oak preferable), Mantle and fauz rock for around gas fireplace on main floor.
Our Reid home is about 13 years old. We had a water leak repaired from outside and inside our house and the dry wall was removed partly from one wall. (Our basement is finished) We also had to remove the section of the carpet under padding that was damaged by the water and pull back the carpet to let it dry. So with our fingers crossed that the leak is repaired, the wall has been open now for over a year we'd like it get it fixed. Its not a big job but still we will need help with. So the wall needs repairing, mudding and taping then the carpet under pad needs partly replaced and reinstalled.
We live in Cambridge just off the 401 at Townline rd. I work from home running a home daycare. Please let me know when the earliest could be for someone to look at the work needed and an estimate.
Thank you.
Catherine
Walls and sub floors were ripped out to do interior french tiles for a water leak.
17 feet each side of the corner in our bungalow. Took many weeks to get this contract done and we now need to have the rest fixed
Need to have everything in this area redone... walls, floors, bathroom area.
also to remove a fireplace and fix walls (fake stone) gas already disconnected
Need to put a shower into the bathroom as well. (open utility room space behind the bathroom) Bathroom will need new flooring and new carpet will be needed throughout the basement. (can be done separately as well)
Laundry room needs a sink added and the dry vent needs to be re run as well as a proper vent in the bathroom.
Electrical needs to be checked in basement bedroom and in the kitchen as well. Everything seems to be on 2 circuits. Bungalow was built in 1962
Work done as soon as possible. Have been scammed by a contractor off of a buy and sell group and very weary of the process at this point. He came in and worked one day 2 weeks ago clearing out a wall and taking out some of the damaged sub floor in the basement. Took my money deposit and never showed again. Stopped communicating.
Need a reliable contractor licensed with a good reputation.
We have the majority complete however we recently had a baby and have not had the time to complete it. We still need to do drywall down the stairs and the laundry room as well as triming in a basement window. We are having our flooring company eventually put a carpet in so we will need to have the trim done as well.
Work needs to be done the week of July 3 -10/12
We have purchased a century home in Preston. The front porch needs to be completely remade, the 2nd teir porch needs to be assessed for safety.
We have a semi-finished basement approximately 12x20 that needs flooring (prefer hardwood), insulation, drywall as well as a fireplace insert (optional).
The large seperate garage needs the roof repaired. It has caved in in a few spots.
We also need the eavestrough replaced around the house.
The previous owners put a new deck in however did not complete it. The railings are missing.
We have $ that was put on top of our mortgage so whomever does the job would need to wait for us to submit recepits until money is recieved. Typically 2-3 days.
House is 20 years old and 2050 sq ft. Basement has never been finished (but does have drywall up which will need to be removed). We would like to add a bedroom, three piece bathroom, family room with gas fireplace (granite/marble mantle), as well as an office as part of the project. Currently have two quotes from renovators with excellent references, but would like a couple more. Reno also includes partial removal of a load bearing wall; a refreshment bar area (granite or mable counter top) and the expansion of a window well in new bedroom location. Rough in for plumbing also needs moved. We basically have the plan/layout, need a reputable and professional contractor to round out our options here.
Not interested in anyone who "forgets appointments", is consistently late, arrives without a tape measure, or promises quotes and cannot deliver (been our experience with two others *sigh*).
Up-to-date references are a must.
Request for the construction (with material) quote for finishing three basements (about 680sq ft each) in Cambridge ON
Hello,
Would it be possible, if you could give me a rough estimate with material standard features before visiting the site.
I like basements (currently totally unfinished with bare walls and with roughing) done as soon as possible in my three units (one with separate entrance door at ground level),
all Units are the same size about 680Sqft and have the following specifications:
• Two bedrooms
• one full bathroom with standing shower
• one recreation-room
• laundry
• wetbar (maybe converted into a kitchen in future) and another
I already have obtained the proper legal permits from City of Cambridge Office and Electrical Safety Authority.
I want the contractor available when I book the inspections.
I would prefer, if you can give me a rough estimate before visiting the site. These units are only two years old around DuckWorth Street and Linden Drive. Cambridge ON N3H 0E2.
Attached are the permits and Engineering design.

So we have decided it's time to fully finish our basement renovations. I am looking for someone that is willing to give us a quote to do the entire project, and also a quote to do certain parts of the project. We've had one quote and if it's a sign of the cost to do it all, we may do certain things ourselves. But there are things we would never attempt such as the plumbing, electrical, mudding and taping etc...
We are looking to contract out our basement reno to include:
1. New bathroom
2. Bedroom
3. Baby room
4. Finish Laundry room
5. Small hallway
6. Some furnace room work
Some drywall and electrical has already been complete in the baby room, laundry room and bedroom area.
Regards
Brian
Half of our basement is an in-law suite. The other half is unfinished, but insulated, with two windows.
We would like two storage areas created; one around the furnace room and one to enclose all the mechanicals. And then we'd like the basement drywalled. We are going to leave the ceiling unfinished at this point. Not sure if we will lay flooring; maybe something vinyl since the space will be used for working out and as an art space.
The area is about 1,000 square feet; measuring approximately 32 feet by 25 feet.
I am the property owner.
I have no idea what this might cost so I'm looking forward to learning more from your quotes.
- Painting the house's interior
- Removing 3 bedrooms carpet and replacing it with hardwood
- Finishing the basement (flooring, drywall, painting, electrical, plumbing, etc)
- Other small fixes around the house
You are Local, insured, experienced, with at least 3 recent references. A written estimate will be included in the contract.
The project will start on June 16, 2018
I live in a Reids Uptown home that is 5 years old. The square footage of the basement is approx 950sq feet. The basement has already framing and some insulation around the perimeter of the basement.
I would like to finish the basement in a yoga studio, so a very open floor plan with floating hardwood or engineered hard wood floors, full length ceiling to floor mirrors one side of the basement, a small bathroom and a fireplace. I would like receded potlights in the ceiling that can be dimmed.
The stairs going down into basement are unfinished and would like those to either be tiled or finished with hardwood in other words no carpet.
I wouldn't need help in painting the actual finished drywall as I enjoy doing this myself.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your replies.
Yours truly,
Natasja
