My townhouse is 40 years old. Plan is to rearrange the bathroom & adjoining bedroom space to create a larger main bath & new ensuite. Main bath - may install new tub, tile tub surround & skirt, tile floor, install new longer cabinet, install new toilet & sink, paint. Ensuite - tile floor & part-way up walls, build separate custom shower, install soaker tub with deck & skirt, install vanity with double sink, install toilet. Configuration of new ensuite to be determined.
Hi
We need to redo the floor in our basement. Right now they are vinyl tiles. So we would like someone to give us ideas and do the job.
Also
We need to build a walk-in closet or simply a closet in our basement. The closet would approx 12' (length) 3' (breadth) 7' (height). The back wall (dry wall) is already there and we just need to build the front wall. I am not sure if the front wall should be a dry wall with an entrance door or should be sliders for closet or even something else. I would like to discuss it with a handyman on various options and will go for something which is cheaper and looks OK.
Thanks
Jay
My 1000 sq feet basement was flooded with 1 inch of rainwater recently. We already removed the carpet, dried the floor, but the moisture meter still detects water in the dry walls. We want to replace 2 feet of drywall around the entire basement and have it painted. We want to replace around 5 doors. We need to replace the kitchen counter top. We need to replace 3 sink cabinets in the washrooms. We need to install a new Allure Vinyl flooring.
I will supply all the materials.
We are looking for someone who can get the work started immediately at a reasonable price.
Our 2 storey house was built in the mid 60's with 2 original bathrooms on the 2nd floor,(main & ensuite). During the coldest winter nights, the entire 2nd floor wall of the house facing north is extremely cold. 1 bedroom; 1 closet; and both bathrooms in question share that wall. In July, we will have lived in this house for 8 years and my family & I love it but I refuse to live here another winter.
New home completing end of July. The builder has framed, insulated, electrical and has plumbed the bathroom. I have chosen a 1.99 sf laminate from the Depot and want to match the upstairs bathroom tiles (under 4 dollars a sf). Need someone to finish the drywall, paint, install the floors and tile the bathroom and do the doors and trim. It's a 900 sf square room. Ready to start once the house has been closed.
Extend Dining Area by Enclosing a Deck:
- Area to be enclosed is a 10'x7' deck off the dining area under the same roof with an 8' ceiling
- Deck is off ground supported by concrete foundation
- Need to build floor with insulation and extend existing heating outlets by 7'
- Enclose deck off dining area with floor to ceiling glass window and patio door under existing roof.
- Remove existing floor to ceiling glass window and patio door from dining area.
- Remove carpet from existing dining area and Install tiles for entire dining area floor including enclosed area, about 10'x17'
Renovate Basement/Laundry Area:
- Basement landing area about 8'x 8'
- Laundry area about 18'x10'
- Install tiles on both areas
- Redo external walls in laundry area
- Update plumbing for washer/dryer and sink
I have three renovations I'd like to complete in the next year or so, so am researching estimates to get an idea of cost and timelines.
The first is removing a previously existing closet (demo, new drywall) and then building a new closet spanning the width of the master bedroom.
The second is enclosing a side entrance to make it a small 'mud room'.
The final one is building interior stairs to the basement. We currently have a rental unit in the basement, so the interior stairs were removed by the previous owners. We hope to convert this back to a usable basement in the next few years so are interested in seeing how difficult this would be.
The house is a 1950's semi-detached house in the Jane and Dundas area. Please call or email to set up a time to come and see the areas where we'd like to renovate to provide an estimate.
Thanks!
- painting fixes - touches up in corners, ceilings in a number of different rooms in the basement
- painting of the front entrance (walls and baseboards)
- baseboard painting, including trim around windows throughout the basement
- laundry room - set up counter top and shelving
- hooking up lights in the basement (wall sconces)
- other minor tems can be discussed when walking through
Basement was flooded, 900 sq ft. Had flooring and walls removed, ceiling tiles sagging from dampness, electrical problems after cleanout.
Needs new drywall, tiny 16sqft bathroom (sink, toilet), subfloor 700sqft, carpeting 700sqft, doors x 4, ceiling 900sqft.
Hi,
I would like to have my finished basement walls reinsulated (or insulated as I believe there is no insulation present). I suspect the basement external wall framing is done with strapping (2x2 or 2x3). Also, if I have to take down the drywall, I would like to have a non supporting wall moved approximately 3-4 feet out to create a bedroom ( see picture where door is located). There is 1 existing electrical receptacle in the wall. I would like to have 1 or 2 more heat vents installed too. The area affected is approximately 300 sq ft'.
The basement is very cold because there is no insulation. As a result the floor is also very cold. I would like to insulate the basement external walls and then possibly look at installation options for the flooring, maybe a subfloor and engineered hardwood but open to suggestions. The main room has only one heat vent and i would like at least another. The to-be bedroom will need a vent also.
I would like to have this work completed in a duration of 1 week.
Please provide an approximate quote of what it would cost to do this job to a finish state.
Thanks
Jerry
Any questions, please ask.

50 year old part of the house-below grade basement with windows
Exterior foundation repair/waterproofing done in October as seepage problem in front part of this room. Old panelling to be removed on 2 walls and to check for previous moisture damage behind wall. New wall to be built to separate room(pocket doors). Opening up a doorway through an existing wall also. Build a closet(no shelves) at far end of the room across the back.MIrror double doors for this. Basically, updating older recroom and bulding it to prevent further moisture issues.
