We are currently looking at updating our finished basement. The house is approx. 7 years old and although it has a finished basement (approx. 1200-1330 sq ft), it is fairly generic, so we are looking at building some custom updates.
The work we are looking to complete includes:
- Framing and drywalling a small bedroom off the main area including building out a closet as well as framing out the furnace/water heater area and putting in either a drop or drywall ceiling to finish the bedroom
- Shifting some existing plumbing rough in (water + drain) from one area of the room approx. 7-10ft down the same wall to where the bar will be installed
- Building out a U shape bar (approx. 7 ft) with cabinetry, some type of granite/stone top for the main bar area, along with a custom built raised front that incorporates wine barrels (already sourced) and a stone faade, along with a raised bar top to house a custom piece of wood to use as the raised bar top (being sourced separate)
- Alongside the bar will need a housing for a wine fridge, along with a shelving area to match the installed cabinetry
- Building a separate standing area approx. 5 ft, which would have the same cabinetry as the bar along with another wood top (being sourced separate) to be cut and placed around an existing pillar
- Installing vinyl flooring throughout the small bedroom and the remainder of the basement (approx. 1200-1300 sq ft), along with possibly some type of tile/stone for the bar area (approx. 100 sq ft) - open to discussion
- Installing pot lights throughout the basement, have been quoted to need approx. 35-40, along with 3 pendant lights for over the bar.
- There are a few additional optional items we are looking at depending on budget constraints including built in shelving units to frame out a TV/Fireplace area, along with building a custom seating area alongside a wall; however these are not necessarily requirements
Ideally, we would like to begin work at the beginning of Feb with the hopes to complete by early March; however are flexible with timing.
I would like to discuss the project further in more detail, especially around cost structures for various types of materials to use and receive quotes for either labour, or both labour and materials.
Thanks
Had a flood in the basement and now need to re model.

I have an approx. 1000 sq. ft basement on east hamilton mountain that is what I call "pseudo" finished (looks finished but completely un-livable space due to the fact that there is no insulation in the walls and floors are not warm, bathroom unusable).
I would like to redo my basement to create a warm livable functional space that adds value to my home and can provide my aging father with a place to live independently.
I am hoping to start the project ASAP but for the right contractor/company timing is flexible.
I look forward to meeting with you to discuss this further.
I have a 650 sq. ft. basement that I would like to renovate including framing with 4 doors, insulation, a T- bar ceiling, painting, flooring and bathroom with tub. The bathroom is plumbing is installed in the floor.
I need one 13 ft. wall and a 20 ft. wall added.
I would like to get started asap.
We are purchasing a home with only 1 bathroom and we would like to have a powder room created in the basement. It will be a small powder room with a toilet and sink only. The plumbing is situated close to area where we would like the bathroom to be. The house was built in the 60's and according to the home inspection is in excellent condition for a home that age. Approximate size of the bathroom would be 4 feet x 6 feet (if possible) This is total blank canvas, we need walls and flooring plus toilet and sink. We are not in possession of the house until mid October but would like to have quotes and have approval in order to start the project once we have possession. We are in a position to view the house and the basement in order to get the proper plans and proper quote. Please provide any information that is required in order to get started. Thanks.

Hi, we have an older house, aprox. 50-60 years old. It looks like the weeping tile on the outside perimeter has let go as the rear wall in our basement has been leaking in a few areas the past couple years. The basement is unfinished. The floor is concrete and walls are block. I am looking to waterpoof from inside. So the job would be digging the floor of my back wall only (19 feet) and drilling some holes in the bottom of wall to allow water to drain and installing a small submersible sump pump. Then put new concrete down over where dug out. Looking to spend $1250-$1500. Photo's available if needed. Thanks.
Hi,
We are in the planning stage to finish our unfinished basement. The basement currently has a leak so we are having that fixed hopefully by year end or sooner and then want our basement finished.
We are thinking of an open concept, basic drywall for the walls and drywall ceiling and tile or laminate flooring with some type of water resistant subflooring, we have heard good things of an interlocking subfloor product called Subflor. We are concerned about sound proofing too and would like opinion on what can be done for this?
We have 4 basement windows we would need to replace and the area of our basement is 19' w x 32' l.
