I need to enclose a TV entertainment unit. I just need the area where the TV sits to have doors. It's an IKEA Lappland unit and I think it's mostly made of particle board which would likely complicate the process a little. The area is 59" wide and 36" tall. I'm open to suggestions as to how to do it. Bi-fold doors. Pocket doors. The tidier the better. But the doors need to be secure. It's a pretty big opening and I figured I couldn't go with materials too heavy because I'm not sure if the unit could handle a lot of weight.
We need the header over our 6 ft living room window replaced. We had an open porch above the window and had water leakage. This appears to have rotted the header. The porch has since been enclosed. The ceiling above the window has now sagged about 2 inches. The window has California shutters on it as well.
1) install 5 bi fold doors, + 3 pre hung doors where the door jams will probably need to be cut off 1 inch, tiles installed under those door frames, + 6 doors that do not have to be cut. as they will be cut off by the hardwood installer.
I can cut them out and remove the existing door frames, would like to sell them on kijiji.
2) replace hand rail and or install new oak on existing carpeted stairs ( 13 steps )
3) installation of about 1200 sq feet of 4 1/4 inch hardwood flooring in 6 rooms, 1 room has a fireplace in it.
4) trim the 14 doors, + 3 more, the 5 bi fold and 3 exterior doors 1 side only, the rest both sides. + about 700 baseboard feet, with a 5 inch and 1 inch ( corner round )
would like doors installed within the next week or two
stairs withing the next 2 to 3 weeks
hardwood about 4 weeks
trim within days after hardwood
I live in a small condominium building. There are two floors with one unit on the ground floor and a second above. I live on the second floor. Access is either through the front door or the balcony door. I am thinking of installing crown moulding in my living room which extends into the dining room and hall way. One area of installation would be the ceiling where the stairway goes up into my unit. My ceiling is popcorn. At this point I am not seeking a quote, but seeing if anyone out there would want to take on this job as I contacted someone else who did not want to do the job because it is in a condo.
Need to replace our landing bannister to a simple, square and modern wood one (113” length)
We also need loose steps on our stairs secured, new treads and either new risers or to refinish the risers (whatever is more cost effective) and new railing for the wall down the stairs. Total 16 stairs.
The stained and clear coated.
Added images of our stairs and examples of the modern, square, simple style bannister.
We have some baseboards that are old and need to be repaired ( 15 linear feet). Trim work for indoor wood stairs to make it look less rough (12 steps). We have an old side kitchen door (single door) that we want removed and filled in with glass blocks.
It would be helpful, If you can give us a rough estimate of how much this would cost before an inspection for a detailed quote.
We are renovating a new Jewellery Store and looking for a millwork-carpentry contractor to make custom one third vision showcases for displaying jewellery, the top part is glass and bottom is cabinet.
drawings and measurements are attached,
-The contractor must have insurance and WSIB certificate
-we are looking for the best price and a quality job.
If you are interested please send us a detailed quote that includes the scope of work, material used, delivery and labour and also preferably some of your former projects done as references.
Thank you very much
Hello! Looking to get my baseboards in my condo redone. They were very poorly done and I would like them replaced. I am looking for someone who specializes in this, as I am very picky and think the detail put into this work is very important.
Looking to get a quote for my condo about 800 sq feet. How long would this take?
Thank you!
I am in the middle of a renovation and I need someone who can plaster and trim. I have about 45 linear feet of drywall walls that need to be taped and mudded. 35 linear feet of baseboard and 3 doors that need to be trimmed out. I have retained the old trim from the house that I would like to reuse to match the existing trim.
Small porch roof is becoming a safety issue (wood composite pieces are now falling off the sides)
Likely needs full replacement - but I'm open to suggestion
Looking for a simple slanted roof structure OR a small peaked wooden roof.
On a 2.5 storey brick home, the whole porch is wooden.
Site conditions: Open space around porch area, home is brick - built in 1903.
The picture attached is Google Street View from 2015, so it's worse for wear now.
Looking for someone to adapt our deck structure to include privacy screens on both sides. Would involve taking down existing railings, adding taller posts, rebuilding railings with Privacy screens above. Looking for someone who can add proper structural bracing for longer posts, ensure things are properly anchored to deck structure.
I have an EXTERIOR fire escape structure (wood construction) that requires repairs.
Replace some of the wood floor joists of the exterior fire escape structure.
Replace two stair structures (stringers, treads). Stairs from 1st floor to 2nd floor and from 2nd floor to 3rd floor.
I have an older house in d/t Hamilton. The original stairs are too narrow, and are built across the width of the house.
I want to replace them with a straight run up the end wall (likely with a landing at the bottom, and a landing and 90 degree turn before the last 2 or 3 steps at the top) (which is what the stairs are like in the identical unit next door).
Photos 1 and 2 are existing stairs. Photo 3 is general idea of what I want.
The basement stairs will also have to be re-oriented.
Hi there,
I am looking for a job to be completed under my stairs leading to the basement. My current drywall is cracking and I have repaired it multiple times and its time for new boards and molding to be hung between the ceiling and walls. The 4 angles are difficult and need someone experienced in trim carpentry and drywall to assist with this project.
I have attached pictures for reference.
I would like to get a quote on the following job:
1) Hang new drywall along the walls (ceiling has been done already)
2) Tape and mud new drywall ready for paint
3) Hang crown molding/trim (4 sides with 4 corners) approximately 16 ft in length and 5 ft in height
Thanks,
Andy
We have a bedroom closet backing onto our kitchen, we want to open it up on the kitchen side and have a pantry. Not a 'custom built pantry' persay, just the prefab boards with holes for adjustable shelving. Also want a interior closet door for access. To finish the project, we want shelves on the closet side.
I believe the pantry will be 15 inches deep, and the shelving on the closet side will be 18 inches deep.
Phone calls are best.
We'd like to install built-in, custom storage closets/shelves/drawers using the space behind our knee walls in our second floor bedrooms. We'd also like to create some custom carpentry with window bench seat and custom shelving in the master bedroom.
We have a handful of smaller projects around the house as well, installing stair handrails for two sets of stairs, installing and hanging new doors throughout (upgrading from hollow core to solid wood).
This is a small project our top floor is under 400 square feet.
We are the owners of the home. We have a second child on the way and would like to complete the project by the end of August.
Jan 5/23: seeking to replace basement stairs to access crawl space. there is enough new wood within the basement to replace the current stairs. stairs height from top to bottom is approximately 5 ft (60 inches). the width of the stairs is approximately 28 inches. there are 5 steps.
I am going to have repairs done to the basement so the incumbent contractor has asked me to replace the current stairs.
Am seeking to have stairs re-done asap within the next 2 weeks or sooner.
I just bought a house in Hamilton East. I work night shift so I need to soundproof one of my bedroom windows (2.5 x 1, a basement bedroom window). I have some 2 x 4, soundproof drywall and some soundproof insulation. So I need to build a window plug - cut the 2 x 4 and build a frame, cut the drywall and screw it on one side, insert insulation and screw on drywall on other side. Only other thing is that I want to put some of that foam filler in between the plug and the window frame to complete the seal.
Also need a battery operated security light mounted on the outside of the house.
May also need you to mount a few smoke detectors in the house.
Hello,
I need my stairs to be restained in a darker shade and there are 6 posts in total that I would like to reshape them to a little more modern look or change the posts.
there are 2 flights of stairs and a landing part in between.
total 17 stairs and landing area is 10x 4 feet roughly.
my estimated budget is $1000-2000
Good Day,
Looking for a stair handrail to be hung adjacent to an existing handrail (on the opposite side). The issue is where we need the rail hung there is a window and am not sure about building code. This is being done for my parents as my mother has just been released from hospital post-surgery and the OT has asked that this be done. The rail needs to be approximately 10ft in length and is outdoors. I have attached a picture along with a pen line as to where I need the rail ran.
Thanks,
Andy
