I have a space in my mississauga home basement which is approx 10' x 35'. My plan is to allocate half (or two thirds) as a home gym and the rest as a kids play area. The whole space would have gym/rubber floors, perhaps coloured etc. For the play area portion. Full wall Mirrors would be up in the gym, punching bag installed, weights, mats, etc, among other items. Playroom pretty straight forward. Perhaps french door splitting the spaces and tvs wired/mounted as needed.
Pretty straight forward. Quotes, interest welcome.
Basement Kitchen

- Electrical wiring and plumbing line for sink completed. Drywall and flooring completed recently
- MDF cabinets. Corner shelf easy reach cabinets. Soft stop
- 30 inch top cabinets
Basement Staircase
- Total 12 steps (2 + 10) from main level to basement level
- Oak staircase with white risers
- spindles/picket hand railing
Main level kitchen
- top cabinet (stained maple) above OTR microwave to be resized to lower the microwave. Currently too high for practical daily use
- Valance for under cabinet lighting
Our basement storage area flooded due to all this rain and the insurance company has denied our claim. We have water coming in from our dryer vent and draining into the storage area as well as a suspected crack in the foundation as water is also seeping through the back wall. The storage area was finished (fooring, drywall and ceiling) as it was used as a kids playroom years ago. Before the claim was denied the insurance had a demo crew in so half the ceiling is torn out as well as some carpeting is cut out from the family room.
We are looking to
-have basement emptied
-get the dryer vent sealed and relocated,
-ceiling put back together,
-crack in the foundation sealed, with new drywall over top
-then new vinyl/laminate laid throughout storage, laundry and bathroom as well as new carpet in family room.
-and finally everything put back in its proper place in the basement and all trash hauled away
Any further questions please dont hesistate to e-mail, we just really need our basement put back together asap!
The semi detached house in Mississauga is about 45 years old. When I bought the property the basement was already done. Most probably it is not legal. I want to have three bedrooms instead of two bedrooms and want to make it legal. I know the steps to make it legal and get it done by contractors/pros on this site.
Should I hire an architect?

Hello Contractors,
I own a small music studio in the basement of my home in Mississauga. The basement is finished already and includes a room, hallway, washroom and living area. The room is where the music studio is.
I would like to remodel the basement and enlarge the music studio from the small room right into the living area so that the studio become the living area.
This is a two step project for me and you will most likely be involved in the 1st step, unless you have specific music studio installation and retrofitting experience.
Step 1: enlarging studio and remodeling living area with special studio materials (soundproofing) and breaking down of a few walls along the way.
I invite you to come see what I had in mind so we can discuss a possible quote range.
Thank you!
Dany
We finished this basement 5 years ago, but due to a water leak, there was damage to the floor.
The leak has been repaired and we're now looking to have things put back in place .... sub-floor (Dri-core), laminate, a bit of drywall, and re-attaching the door and service door covering the water meter ...
We can source the laminate ... area is approx. 8*10 (?)
Age of house: ~40 years.
Project: take down inner basement walls, waterproof* and repair as needed, rebuild inner walls.
Current walls: stucco and wood panelling
New walls: Plain with trim and paint
*waterproofing (on exterior wall only, ~25 ft) is the responsibility of my condominium corporation - not clear at this time whether they will want to hire their own contractor. Home has had multiple leaks in the past few years, all repaired from outside; now considering inside sealing.
site conditions: currently dry, finished basement, carpet flooring
total wall length ~ 70 ft, height ~ 6.7 ft

I have a partially finished basement that I would like to turn into a rental unit but leave some space for me that can be used for storage and fitness room. The house is roughly 2300sqft. There is only one access Point into the basement through the house. I would like to put stairs in from the garage, new windows, 1 or 2 bedrooms with kitchen, bathroom and sitting area. The electrical is very old. My gut says we need to take it all out and start from scratch. The basement had ceramics but covered the floor with laminate. The area is open concept but previous owner put in a bedroom that we use as an office. The space is not used properly. We may or may not rent it out but I would like the choice. My oldest is starting university so we may move him into the basement.
Hi, we have a 2 year old house and want to finsh the basement.
I'd like to use spray foam as to replace current insulation and soundproof the basement ceiling. 3 piece bathroom with shower.
We plan to have 2 storage rooms and one office. Potlights throughout and pre-wired for entertainment system. Looking for advice on replacing current staircase to Oak. Looking for professional advise on the right layout. I can be reached anytime on my cell phone .
Thank you for your time.
Don
Middle Unit Town Home.
I'd like to finish the basement completely. It is currently unfinished from A-Z (with the exception of 50% of insulation complete).
About 700 sq. ft.
Wish List: Dry wall walls and ceiling. Pot lighting. Move plumbling for washer and dryer about 5ft to adjacent wall. Subfloor and floating floors. Box in furnace (leave access). Wire for tv, speakers.
**Access to basement is around narrow winding staircase. Will most likely involve the need to cut drywall sheets in half in order to bring them downstairs.
