We are looking at having a wall unit and new mantle for our tv room. Currently, the wall is an estimated 14 feet wide by 8-9 feet tall. We have an existing fireplace that was a woodburning stove and is now converted into a gas. The fireplace has a concrete trim about 1 1/2 feet away from the ground. We would like the following changes:
- built in cabinets and shelving, floor to ceiling height, we are open to different ideas/suggestions
- we would like the option of having the television above the fireplace
- we would like a mantle to be built around the fireplace, the current one does not have a mantle
- we would like some form of lighting built into the shelving, but its not a necessity
Our home is 42 years old, we like contemporary style, we are open to doing some work if necessary to reduce our costs.
We could send a photo of the wall if necessary, just ask.
I am a coin collector and looking for a custom built cabinet (similar to a Jewelry cabinet) to keep these coins of various weights and the boxes they come with. The height for such boxes are usually between 1.5" - 2" (and hardly goes beyond 3") although the depth and width of such boxes do vary.
Given the space I plan on keeping the cabinet in, the max dimensions allowed for the cabinet should be around: 36" (height) x 23" (depth) x 23.5" (width). Ideally, the cabinet should have pullout drawers (I am open to other ideas too). Coins could be heavy - a single coin could be 10 oz. However, most coins are between 1-2 oz. Therefore, each of the bottom two drawers need to be fairly strong to withstand weight up to 1,000 oz.
The drawers should be lined with felt or velvet and equipped with adjustable drawer dividers. I have no preference on liner material as long as it attracts the least amount of dust. As you know, dust is most visible on black and least on grey liners (not that these are my preferred choices for color).
The cabinet should be lockable.
Kindly let me know what the cost for such a cabinet would be and the material that might be used for such cabinet (solid wood, Plywood, HDF?).
I need to complete the renovation of my kitchen. Current contractor is stalling. Essentially, it's to procure 6 white cabinet doors (MDF shaker style doors) and to install them. Plus, replace hinges on one door with soft close hinges + caulk the top crown moulding.
I'm located in the Winston Churchill + 403 area.
Looking to get this job wrapped up by Jan 1, 2013.
We would like built in shelves on either side of our fireplace in the family room, probably half way up, might be full wall depending on price and design ideas. There is 44" on one side and 46" on the other. Looking at maybe a cupboard for electronics and some open shelving, pot lights etc.
Also looking for a built in computer desk, drawers and/or bookshelves upstairs in the hallway/landing. The dimension of the space is 6.5' by 9'.
Finally, a laundry/mudroom rework with cupboards, cubbies, new counter etc. May even move washer/dryer upstairs, leave as a mudrrom only. The size of the room is 9' by 7'. The floor has been retiled in the past, so just the carpentry needs to be done. Looking for some ideas, have some of my own also. Would probably start with the family room and then move on to the other spaces.
Project date would be in the new year. We are expecting a baby in early February, which may affect the project. Must be discussed...
I need my brick fireplace covered with oak wood with a thin acanthus corbel on both sides of the mantle; maybe with flutes on both sides too. AND I want a built-in seating/cabinet/bench that is 27" x 55 1/2" with cushion (I can make the cushion if u don't do it).
Any referrals please?
Any cabinets/shelves within the office over 6 ft need to be secured to the wall to be compliant with our Health & Safety audit. I believe we have metal studs in the walls so that is why we want a contractor to do this rather than internal staff. There should be 4-5 shelves in total, a very small job.
I need somebody who can help me build and design a small bar in the basement.
Also I need help in putting cabinets in the laundru room 1 and half top.
I also want to buy a unit in the store for walk in closet that will need instalation as well as some shelves on the other side of same closet.
I need some shelves in the bedroom closet to unitilize the space in it.
I also have some small odd finishes I need assistance with around the house.

We want to install an Over the Range microwave but our cabinets that are over the stove drop down too low. We need to have them shortened by 4-inches.
Would it be possible that someone would be able to re-work/re-modify the existing cabinets and make them shorter?
The original; cabinets are from Raywal and they are able to provide a shorter cabinet over the stove version€BUT, it would take them 6 weeks to have it built.
We need it done much quicker than that. If you could offer any assistance or insight on how we might get our little modification done, I would really appreciate it.
Hi.... We are in the market for a new refrigerator but the problem is the cabinet that is over the current refrigerator. It is too big to accomodate the new heights of the more modern fridges.
What we are looking for is to keep the current cabinet but make it smaller (half) so that we can accomodate a fridge that is 69.5inches in height. The current fridge height is 64.5 and the fridge just fits under it.
The cabinets are stained oak and the cabinet is an end unit that is beside the patio door.
Refinishing my existing kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts in dark brown single tone colour.
My existing cabinets and drawers are real wood, most likely oak and a light blonde colour. I want to be more modern by going dark which will also compliment my granite counter tops.
I do not want anything new and over the top budget wise, I want to be able to use all my existing cabinets, drawers and hardware.
Pls provide approx. on-line quote for spray painting cupboards & staining bottom wood trim of kitchen cupboards - 28 cabinet doors & 8 drawers with trim about 3 in. high. Cupboards & drawers are laminate (white with grey oak stain bottom trim) & are 16 yrs old. It is a large kitchen & new countertop will also be installed to update kitchen for re-sale. New colour will be antique white/cream.
I have 210 inches of cabinetary that I need to have Kitchen Valenences installed so that I can have under-cabinet lighting (My brother is an electrician and he will be doing my lighting) - I just need someone to supply and install the valences that cover the lighting.
Size: 210 inches
Corners: 4 @ 90 degrees each
Cabinet colour is a dark brown - chocolatey colour.
I would like the valences to have a bit of a design on them rather than just plain. Please provide quote for supply & install, and just install (I can buy them from Rona/Home Depot but that would take 6-8 weeks for me to receive them).
Dear Kitchen cabinet manufacturers,
We are a design-build-renovator with 35 years of experience building in the GTA, seeking a new relationship with a quality minded, efficient and reliable kitchen manufacturer, preferably close to the Dixie and Burnamthorpe area.
The last cabinet manufacturer we had was with us for over 7 years, but has become unreliable so we are now seeking a new partnership. It varies, but we usually get involved with 3 -5 new kitchens a year.
We will soon be building a new kitchen for our own home, for delivery February 15th. See drawings attached. This photo of the finished kitchen is very close to what we have in mind, a glazed French country kitchen. Dark island, light back cabinets. Proper glazing, not "combing"click here of the doors are MDF with panel mold and raised panel effect, and have soft close 180 degree hinges, decent quality.
All of the boxes are melamine except sink and DW cabinets which are plywood.
I will supply all moldings, pilasters, plinth blocks, crown mold, corbels, for you to paint.
Pantrys have four pull out shelves and one fixed shelf each.
All drawers have soft close.
The glazed finish is to be an authentic looking glaze, antique grey and brown.
I will install the kitchen and most moldings myself.
Delivery must be for Feb 15th, please include protection and transport in your price.
Countertop is not included at this time.
If you have questions, please just make and state assumptions, and submit your budget price.
We will closely look at submissions for their detailed pricing, completeness and number of years you have been in business.

My kitchen has about 30 (melamine/thermofoil???) rasied panel doors. Seven of them have significantly yellowed over 11 years. Two have the coating badly chipping off to the point where I could peel away. Structurally all is well.
I am selling, so I don't want to replace all of the doors.
Can the 7 bad ones be recoated to match the current colour of the 23 good ones.
I look forward to your calls. Work can be completed next week (doors taken away on Wednesday)
I manage a few rental properties and am looking for a handyman to replace 2 kitchen cabinets which were damaged due to a leak. the drywall on top needs to be replaced as well. i am looking for a handyman for this and ongoing jobs that I have from time to time for the rentals. Looking for someone who is available on the weekend and is reliable.
The doors and hinges can be re-used as they are good.
I have a 60"high x 45"wide x 23"deep opening in the family room that used to house a projection tv. The opening is about 12 inches from the floor. The tv has now been removed and I am thinking of having shelving built into the opening and framing the outside of the opening all the way to the floor , or perhaps just the edge of the trim, so it looks like a finished unit. The unit will be painted the same colour as the wall so it doesnt necessarily have to be good quality wood - just well made and inexpensive.
Please provide quotes to my email address
I would like to have a smal cabinet built for the kitchen. Approx 4' long at the back, 3'long at the front, 36" tall (height of counter), and 16' deep. 2 shelf wine rack at the front (for 8 bottles) and a drawer above the wine rack. I would like the cabinet to have a ceramic tile top (I have the ceramic tiles) and the colour of the cabinet is to be antique white. As current cabinets are not wood (mdf or something similar), new cabinet can be made of same material. I would like a quote for this job.
