We're looking to do renovations on our entire home, ranging from minor to major.
- replacing hardwood floors & adding railing along the stair cases
- refinishing kitchen cupboards (2 kitchens)
- re-tiling kitchen and half bathroom
- renovating basement full bathroom
- opening up basement (currently has 2 bedrooms which we'd like to open up into a larger rec room)
Our home is approximately 2000 square feet and is at least 20 years old.
20 year old condominium unit needs to be updated. I would prefer the kitchen to have granite counters, backslash, and dark wood cabinets. I wouldn't mind keep some of the inner cupboards if they are in good condition however one concern is under the kitchen sink. The board appears to have sunken in due to water damage. Also several drawers need to be fully done since they do not align. As for the two bathrooms I need a new vanities and I would like to have bathtubs installed with a sliding glass door, new tiles on the walls, paint, and new toilet. I have purchased hardwood floors to be installed in two of the bedrooms. The whole unit also needs to be painted and I need a new trim along the bottom of the walls.
- Removal of a 11 feet load bearing wall.
- Removal of brick fireplace and reframe that wall
- Installation of a 2-sided fireplace, which requires that wall to be reframed.
- Tile the kitchen, powder room, laundry room area (Kitchen is very unlevel and may require releveling)
- Remodel kitchen (new cabinets, new countertop, moving of some plumbing
- Removal of popcorn ceilings from Family, Living, Dining and front foyer
- Pot lights in family room, living room and kitchen
- Hardwood flooring throughout first floor and hallway on 2nd floor. About 1000 sq. ft of hardwood flooring
- Refinish staircase, spindles, and handrail to match the hardwood flooring. Spindles and risers will be painted white.
- Carpet in 4 bedrooms upstairs.
The most important task is removing the load bearing wall. With the kitchen renovations, we might purchase a kitchen from Ikea.
Have a few reno projects including:
- bathroom: change toilet, vanity, tub, surrounding tiles.
- remove popcorn ceiling and install potlights (10) in living room
- basement: potentially change potlights
- powder room: change toilet and sink
- build shelving in living room and TV room
- paint townhouse interior
My house was built in 1987. We own the house for 4 years. It is a 220 sq ft house. Basement is finished except the kitchen and bathroom. We want to finish the basement kitchen and bathroom, then renew the main floor flooring. Entrance and kitchen will be tile, the rest is going to be engineered hardwood. It is tile+parkett hardwood now. We want the coat closet at the entrance be moved to the old laundry room in the main floor. Powder room vanity will be changed, and the door to powder room will be moved about a door width. Old laundry sink will be changed. Kitchen backsplash will be changed. Countertop will be changed to a granit one.
Please return to us by e-mail and provide us the phone number we can reach to you.
Thanks.
We have a number of indoor and outdoor upgrades/renovations to complete in our home. My father had hoped to complete these himself, but it is taking much longer than expected and we have decided it makes more sense to put some money out to have the jobs completed so he can enjoy them.
At this time, we have a drop ceiling to be installed in the basement (supplies are already purchased), a front wooden staircase to be put at our front door, and our back patio needs stones added and leveling. We also MAY be adding a bathroom to the basement and updating our other 2 bathrooms and the kitchen depending on our budget and the recommendations made by our real estate agent.
This house is approximately 35 years old and 1600 sqft +basement. We have 4 adults and 3 children living here full time as well and will need to continue to be here throughout the renovations so that will have to be taken into consideration.

Hello Handy People!
Currently I have carpet on my stairs. I would like suggestions for an unique look. I am not sure to either go with hardwood or textured ceramic tiles. These stairs are from the main floor to the 2nd level. Also, the spindles, perhaps keep the large posts and replace the spindles with wrought iron.
To all Handy People out there, I'd like some suggestions and if I like your suggestion, I will contact you for an onsite quote.
Thank you.
Suzan
Good Day,
I would like to try to find out the approximate costs for installing a window where a window does not currently exist. We have a new home and would like to put in a fairly large window (approx. 3' by 4') in the foyer (on the side of the house) to allow for more light. The job would require scaffolding as the window would be high (between the first and second floor), cutting the brick, and the window installation. I was able to take photos of the inside wall before the drywall was installed which may help to get a feel for what type of work is needed to build a frame for the new window.
What would I be looking at for a job like this. Again, I am looking for an approximate cost.
Kind Regards,
Quinton

Would like to renovate a 15 year old, 2300 SqFt home. Would like to see the possibilities and budget to get to a more open, simplistic and future-proof design. Removal of non-weight bearing walls, work with newly added counter tops (ideas on refacing kitchen), flooring, stairs etc.
Based on design and quote, we are ready to move forward on renovations within 1-3 months.
Please contact for further details.
We are looking for the crew that could finish up around 4000 sqft (living space) house which is newly constructed and finished up to the drywall stage. We need to have 5 washrooms tilled and lay the flooring, trims install doors etc. in the entire 4+1 bedroom house. If you are interested in the job please send me an email so I could send you drawings and renderings of the job that need to be done.
We need to renovate a semi-detached house in South Mississauga. It is a 4 levels split with about 500 square feet in each level. House has been owner occupied until now. I am looking to separate the top 2 levels from the bottom 2 levels, and make it legal 2 units for future renting.
1) Upgrade the existing 100 amps breaker panel to 125 amps, assuming it is 125 amps coming into the breaker panel;
2) Removing the soaker tub in the upper bathroom to make room for both a standard tub/shower and a stacked washer/dryer to give each unit separate laundry. Install the washer/dryper; Retile the washroom floor; Also re-locate the existing bathroom door to better utilize the space.
3) Build a wall in the middle of the staircase that goes from the main floor down to the lower two bedrooms, to separate the two units. Then creating storage space on both sides of that wall.
4) Proper 1 hour rated type X drywall for the furnace room in basement and installation of a fire door.
5) Removal of partial wall between basement kitchen and living room. The wall is non load bearing.
6) Relocate the existing lower cabinets in the lower unit kitchen, install new kitchen cabinets that will accommodate a new dish washer, add some upper white cabinets around the fridge.
7) Reframing and finishing existing coat closet at side entrance on lower bedroom level to use part of that space for bedroom closet.
THANK-YOU FOR SUCH SPEEDY RESPONSES! WE are currently looking into a couple of options brought forward to us with regards to having some folks out to look at this project. We do not require any further quotes at this time. Kind Regards, Karrie

Looking to hire a General Contractor or perhaps a Structural Engineer to find out if the joists that were cut out to make room for some ducting in a house we are trying to buy are a structural concern or if they are within the acceptable standards. The house we are trying to buy is in the Oakville area and we are looking to finalize by Friday afternoon - we don't want to buy a "lemon" and want to make sure the house above the basement is safe and secure. We do not imagine it would take more than one service call to tell us if it is a concern or not and perhaps to estimate costs to remedy if it is...
