We have installed a side door into our home, and the City of Mississauga requires a permit for this job. We are looking for someone to help who has experience in this area - and who can get it done for us.. We will have to change the stairs that lead to the door, we need a platform created with interlocking also....
We want to remove the wall that separates the hallway from the living/dining room. After removing the drywall we saw that the studs are 2x6 and beleive this is a load bearing wall. I need someone to look at it and tell me how many if any of the studs could be removed and still maintain the integrity of the wall. Also, I need someone to look at two of the walls in the kitchen and let me know if they are load bearing and how many of the studs could possibly be removed (this being slated for future projects) I'm pretty sure I'll need a building permit so I will need help with the drawings etc. My husband and I would like to do the work ourselves. Thank you
Hello - I would like quotes on building an entrance to my basement. There are 2 possible locations to make an entrance - one would be an entrance at the garden level thru the wall facing the rear garden. In this case the entrance height would be almost at ground level so little excavation would be required.
The 2nd case would be to make a traditional basement - ie excavate from the outside thru' the side of the basement/house.
Please mention quotes for a garden-level entrance as well as a sub-level entrance with necessary permits.
Looking to start immediately with the right candidate.
One of the posts in the basement was removed by former owner when they were finishing the basement as this post was in a akward location (in the way when step downstairs). Another support was rebuilt 1 meter beside the orginal post underneath the load bearing beam. (5 to 6 pieces of wood inside the wall). However, I still have concern regarding the structure of the house and would like to do a safety inspection for the support system of the house. Would prefer someone with years of experience in design and rebuilt the support system for the house and have deep knowledge of structual engineering.
Certified Structural Engineer required to provide all required drawings for a permit to remove a 11 foot span load bearing wall. The wall is on the first floor of a 2 story detached home. The wall is perpendicular to an outside wall and is about 12 feet from another outside wall. The permit will be submitted to the city of Mississauga. Please provide an estimate on reply to this project (it can be a rough quote if not enough information is provided in this posting).
In addition to the 11 foot span wall, we might also install a 2-sided fireplace. Please advise if a permit is required and if additional drawings are required.
Looking for a professional services firm that can assess any possible structural compromise in an historical home in the Port Credit area - looking for an assessment and repair - areas of the home are understandably uneven and have been for years - however there has been some slight movement and sloping / causing cracks and buckling over the past 5 years - looking for an experienced professional capable of remedying the problem.
