Hi,
I am looking to renovate my finished basement and upgrade my master bathroom. The basement renovation includes installing a bathroom, bedroom, gym and wet bar. The master bedroom upgrade is to upgrade the shower, vanity, flooring and tub. I have design details to share with all of the project requirements.
In terms of timing, I am looking to get started as soon as possible.
Thanks.
Patrick
Small bungalow(50 yrs old?): Have a basement bathroom that needs fixing up; one large room can be converted to bedroom (needs closet, etc.); the rest is unfinished and would be open space (living/dining); laundry area to be converted to small kitchen area with stackable washer/dryer; possibly new windows & new furnace. I am just looking for an estimate.
I require sound proofing in the ceiling, changing the existing pot lights, replacing two doors (1 for the utility room, 1 for the electric panel. I need the outside entrance door replaced. I also need the instalation of a washer and dryer that we will provide. (This will be installed next to the kitchen sink).
We have a 1950's bungalow with a partially finished basement that was most likely done in the 1970's. We would like to install a 4 piece bathroom in the basement and do a bit of finishing on the rest of the space. We require help with plans in order to get a permit also. As there is lots to do in the basement, and some work we can do ourselves, we would like to work with a company that is comfortable sharing the work load. Beyond the bathroom, there would be other small jobs, but the bathroom is the main starting project.
Please provide a rough estimate for an average basement bathroom cost, as we haven't got a clue. We will select a few companies to come in and inspect our house for a more accurate estimate once we know how much we should expect to pay.
Thank you
Basement to be Finished, 400-500 sq ft townhome basement. Would like a rec room completed with drywall and door separating laundry room. Carpeting or laminate whichever is cheaper, close off the open back stairs with carpeting, build a storage closet at bump of stairs. Pot lights, Paint, trim, subfloor, cable, telephone, and ethernet outlets. No washroom, no fireplace, no built in wall units. Need job to start upon possession of home on April 2nd, and to be finished by move in date of May 1/2010. Doing this on a tight budget. On-line estimate only to start, then on-site visit if selected.
We are planning to finish a basement. We would live to make two rooms, one full bathroom, one storage closet. We would like to have barber carpet on the floor. Only one room will need a closet. We were planning to make a sauna as well, but it is negotiable at this point in time. We were also planning to make a wet bar in there, also negotiable. The main job is rather simple: hang drywall, install bathroom, lay carpet, install doors, the rest depends on the price. We would like to have it completed within a few weeks, by the middle of October. Thanks for your quotes.
Regards,
Valerie.
I am looking for some rough quotes on my basement renovation project. My basement is approximately 700 square feet, there will be an enclosure walls and door around the furnace as well as the laundry room and the space under the stairs for storage otherwise its just floor, walls and ceiling. There will be no bathroom, I would like drywall ceiling and potlights, but would like to know if these will be additional costs. My closing date on the 6 yr old townhouse is July 16th and would want work to commence as soon as possible after that date. As I will be including this reno in my mortgage so the contractor I choose will be paid upon completion of their work however a letter of promise from the bank can be made. I understand that you will have to see the property to give a more accurate quote but I believe I have given enough info that you can give me a ballpark. If you require more information just ask.
Thank you

Hello,
I'm looking to get a quote on finishing my basement. Because I have only one more visit to the home I purchased I would like to know in advance your price per square foot and what it included. As well I need to know if you are available for a project like this (approx 700 sq feet), framing to put a door on a 2nd floor flamily room and installing a new bathtub- I will do the tile work on that. I would like the project to begin mid July as my house closes on July 16th.
Thank you
Ronda
I will be taking possession of a 6 year old townhouse in the middle of July. and would like to finish the basement. The area is approximately 500 sq feet in total, so I'm looking to find out what the best price someone can give me for either finishing it or just framing it out. The whole basement is shaped like an L, one section being about 11 X 17 and then the stairs and furnace and then another 17 X 11 section with the washer/ dryer cold storage at the far end. I would like there to be a laundry room and then open space and the far 11 X 17 will either be left open or enclosed in a bedroom.
Our basement is finished and has a working bathroom. Just today we put in new windows. Moving forward...we would like to knock down 2 walls to create open concept in the basement. Modernize and make bathroom larger, adding a tiled glass shower. We would like to replace the existing floor with carpet and some wood flooring. There is also a brick "for show" fireplace that we would like removed. We would also like ceiling crown moulding and some electrical work done for light fixtures. All cabinetry required we have our own contact.
Hi, I live in Oakville and desperately need to finish my basement. I had always planned on finishing it myself as I have the skills and knowledge to do so. I am unable to now, as I acquired a brain injury in a motor vehicle accident and have limitations. I'm an avid watcher of Mike Holmes' series of shows and the thought of hiring a contractor absolutely terrifies me.
The basement is approx. 1000 sq ft, with basic finishes, no bathroom, but a soundproof room is a must. I can obtain most of the materials at cost. Here's what I have in mind: mold resistant blue or pink studs, closed cell 2lb sprayfoam to approx. R20, Dricore subfloor, laminate flooring, mold resistant drywall, Roxul insulation for ceiling. Soundproof room should be finished with 2 layers of 5/8 soundproofing drywall sandwiched with green glue in between and also soundproofing compound on ducts with Genie clips and U channel on ceiling.
I am looking for a contractor who is experienced, insured and works according to local building codes. All necessary permits need to be acquired. Payment plan should reflect work completed and not timeline. Last scheduled payment will be held back for 30 days.
Do you think I will have trouble finding someone for the job under these conditions?
Thanks
