This is to install maple hardwood flooring in livingroom (17 X 11) and diningroom (9 X 10) of townhouse in Orleans, Ontario. There is 2 steps and a small hallway to include in the job (no more than 30 sq feet) and there is a fire place area that has tile and flush to the current carpet. Carpet will be removed by home owner. The approximate square footage is 350 square feet with 4 steps required as well. The sub floor is wood.
sub floor is ready for installation; baseboards have been removed. house is 8 years old and we are replacing carpet in 2nd floor bedroom with hardwood. approx 220 sq.ft. includes 2 closets and includes a 5x3 area leading into bedroom. hardwood is 2 1/4 mirage that will join onto existing hardwood. no requirement to reinstall baseboard.
We recently laid laminate flooring throughout the main and upper floors of our home. We need a finishing contractor to help us decide how to deal with the areas around the bannisters. The laminate flooring butts up against the bannisters, but ends there, leaving the space between the bannister and the space on the opposite side (about 2 inches to the edge) exposed. We have no idea how to tackle this. There is a total of about 30 feet of floors around bannisters in our house that requires finishing.
We may also require a finishing contractor to finish the trim (quarter-round) around the edges of the flooring, as well as some crown moulding around the ceiling on the upper floor and some final painting work.
1. purchase whatever materials you think you will need (including the underlay, nails, etc.) - I can come with you to make the purchase or you can add the cost to the total bill.
2. take up the flooring that's there
3. nail down the subfloor
4. put down the underlay (condo corp has provided specs on which ones meet standards)
5. re-install the laminate
6. put back the trim (you tell me if you will need to replace some pieces of the trim)
The laminate is in the livingroom/dining room area, as well as the kitchen and down a hallway. You can come over and see it before making a quote if you wish. I'd like to get it done as soon as possible - the downstairs neighbour has been suffering through this ordeal for much too long.
I need my kitchen floor removed to prepare for new flooring. It is a layer of tile on plywood, and two other old layers of flooring (linoleum and plywood). I need expertise, and estimates, on whether to cut around the cabinets or remove them first before removing the floor.
Please contact me to set up an appointment for an estimate. I also have another small project posted to replace the basement stairs.
Thank you for considering my project,
Frances Murphy,
Orleans
Small job. Rec room about 170 sq ft. plus 9 stairs. Ideally you can supply 13 mil. laminate flooring at $2.00 sq. ft. or less, underlay, stair nosing, quarter round. Prefer to match or closely match upstairs laminate flooring which is light oak. I will remove existing carpeting and quarter round. References a must. Thanks.

We're looking to put new carpet in the second floor bedrooms and hallway (small 3 bedroom house) and carpet in the basement (one long open room) as well as ripping out the different flooring types found on the main floor and installing one "hardwood" or stone throughout the main floor.
We want new baseboards and trim (doorways) throughout the whole house
We want the whole house painted
We have other projects in mind, but we'd like to find a suitable fit for this project first. Presumably all of this work would be best done in one-shot, with us out of the house.
We're looking for basic estimates.
