We would like to soundproof the ceiling of our property in Oshawa. The space is roughly 1000 Sq feet. We would like to use roxul insulation and do one layer close to the subfloor and one more layer flush with the underside of the joist, then the resilient channel and then 5/8" drywall. Currently the space is finished so you would need to take off the current drywall and other prep work as needed.

I also wanted the ceiling of the basement done with sound proofing materials. Can someone please help me out? I need to know what is required and how much labour and materials are, thanks.

Would like to soundproof one wall on the main floor (living room) of a semi-detached house. My understanding is this involves adding an additional layer of wall material such as sheetrock (the heavier and denser the better) on top of the existing wall with a sound absorbing substance/gel between them (in addition to some work around and with the outlets). The wall is 16 x 8' and has two standard outlets. The wall is straight and plain except for at one end where it juts inward one foot and then continues to the other wall (one foot in from the main wall). Would prefer someone with some soundproofing experience for this job, as there may be other techniques we can use (adding insulation between the existing walls first for example?) that would be worthwhile.
