Basement Reno to create following areas
Rec room - 21'x12'
Office - 14'x12'
Full bath - 8'x8'4"
Storage Room - 7;x8'
Laundry Room - 8'x8'8"
Utility Room - 12'x8'
We already have someone to rough in plumbing for bathroom
Approximately half of exterior walls are already framed in from previous owner as well as some bulkhead framing that may require altering or re-doing
want drywall on walls and ceiling
driCor and laminate on floors - except in utility room
4 standard doorways required as well as a sliding barn door type system for a 57" opening for office
Office wall 14 ' long requires that 3 support posts be enclosed - likely requires double framing construction
potlights throughout except utility room.
This basement was previously finished when the house was built 30 years ago. The current status of the basement is that the drywall and ceiling tiles have been removed and walls are currently exposed studs with insulation and exterior vapour barrier. The floor is painted concrete.
We want to have an 11x11 room sectionned off from the main area and a large storage closet built. The rest of the basement will be left open for a child's playroom. We would like subfloor in the entire space and radiant heat in the floor of the sectionned room. We want drywalled ceilings.
We have scale drawings of the project. Our desire is to have the room finished to the paint-ready stage with the floors left at the sub-floor stage and we will complete the final steps.
There is no plumbing work required (no bathroom) and only minor electrical in the form of adding extra outlets.
In our newly constructed house in Barrhaven, we (owners) would like to renovate our (walkout) basement to accommodate an infant daycare. The basement is currently unfinished and require a bath, room for kids to sleep, kitchen and bathroom. We would like to have vinyl installed for flooring amongst others (see also Excel sheet for detailed description of selection of materials). The unit should also be finished in such a way that it could be rented out as a suite as well. At this point we have already selected all the materials. We would like to start asap and are looking forward to a quote and ideas/suggestions.
We have approximately 700 sq feet of semi-finished basement, with no ceilings completed.
The ideal renovation would include:
finishing the ceiling for the entire basement, including lighting fixtures (electrical already completed);
Build 1 wall, approximately 10 feet, with a doorway, to close in utility room;
Finish basement bedroom closet (doors);
Close in one door in basement;
Take down 2 walls, approximately 10 feet in length;
Relocate cold air exchange;
Finish stairs leading downstairs (kickboards and carpeting); and
Install walls and laminate flooring for a 10x15 room in basedment (currently used as workshop).
I have a finished basement but it is a simple basement.
15 x 22
dry core on floor / R12 in walls with only vapor barrier on warm side.
Furnace is two stage and strong enough to support the house.
2 supply vents on ceiling and one return vent in basement.
3 new windows.
Basement is very cold in winter and still cold in summer. i blocked the vents in summer.
I want a warm and cozy basement all year round.
I was planning on installing a gas fireplace with thermostat but I am basically just throwng more heat and not understanding why it is so cold in the basement.
I may rip out the basement and start over, then let a professional create a warm basement.
Looking to add framing so that it is 2 x 6 , install rigid foam and roxul , gyproc, tape and mud maybe add in another heating duct to the floor now that walls are open.
Should not have to do any ceiling work.
Thanks

I have a basement renovation that has been about 60 percent complete. The sub flooring and flooring has been put down. the electrical has been wired but the pot lights still need to be installed. The bathroom needs to have the shower installment finished (about 50% done), the toilet, vanity, and tile floor need to be installed. Bathroom is a small bathroom, the basement is drywalled but the mudding and tapping need to be done. The entire basement is only 650 square feet but less now that it is drywalled. I will need 2 doors installed and paint done as well as a tv mount installed.
Between 400-500 sq feet. We need a complete basement renovation to allow for a bar and a media space. The ceiling needs to be finished with potlights and hardwood floors installed. There is a bathroom that must be renovated, and could be downsized to a powder room, depending on the overall design. Smart built in storage for books and seasonal items is required, and it may be necessary to expand the furnace/storage room. For the hardwood floors, we would need the underlay suitable for sub-grade installations. Looking for advice on the best layout of this square space, bisected by one wall that is likely structural. A site visit and discussion are essential, and we would like to finalize a scope of work and contract as soon as possible for the earliest possible start to our project. Our budget is not to exceed 25,000 but less is always preferable. Two photos are included. Looking forward to reviewing responses.

the basement is already partially finished but not the way we like. There is a rough in for a bathroom but not sure if the location of the rough in we could do anything with it. We would like contractors to come and give an estimate as well as design a space that is functional for both a family room and office area. (not sure about another bedroom or the bathroom).
Leaking pipe in ceiling of finished basement resulted in damage to basement window wooden frame - the top of frame had to be removed. Some drywall had to be cut out to access the leaking pipe - about 5 sq. ft. of drywall on ceiling and 2 sq. ft. on wall below. Will also require some compound being applied below window - approx. 3 sq. ft. Can share pictures via email if it will assist.

I have a 45 year old side split home and the basement needs to be exploded and re-built, well maybe not totally but, it needs help
There have been several attempts at renovation over the years but none seemed to have worked well. I need help and ideas.
We have lived here for 15 years and never used the basement for anything but storage and as I near retirement, my Wife insists she needs a place to put me to be out of the way.
8 by 10 storage room in lower level of 1963 home. It needs a strip out of old panelling and shelves and new drywall mud and tape ready for paint and custom shelves. Home needs much TLC (our latest project) and there is too much for us to do. This could lead to other work incl. 25 by 15 basement rec-room, and laundry room. Must have significant experience and references.
Hello,
I am looking to purchase a home in Overbrook and would like to convert the basement into a separate unit for income.
I would like to get an estimate on what this would cost and the time frame to complete.
I am hoping to make a decision and close on the sale within a few weeks, so hope to hear from you soon (June 16 or 17th).
Look forward to speaking with you,
Jennifer
Attached garden home (attached on one side only) approximately 35 years old .
Finish Basement approx. 16 x 16 feet. Walls, currently down to original cinder blocks, have been treated with moisture/mildew protector. Original framing in tact. Require installation of vapour barrier, insulation and dry wall. Prime and paint walls. Stipple ceiling in one corner requires repair work approx 3 x 3 feet. Floor to be decided, may be sub floor with either carpet or ceramic tiles.
Installation of 16 pot lights (holes already made and fishing completed) , rewire 4 electrical switch boxes and 2 outlets. Replace and/or install all new switch boxes and receptacles. Other electrical includes relocating dryer plug, replacement of two overhead fixtures.
Bathroom (4 x 6) requires dry wall, primer and paint. Installation of pot lights, switches and receptaclesl. Shower already installed, door needs to be added, Toilet to be replaced, medicine cabinet and above toilet cabinet installation. Ceramic tiles on floor.
Installation of two main doors one to bathroom and one to laundry room.
Build floor to ceiling storage shelves approx 5 feet wide in laundry room plus storage shelves under basement stairs.
Carpet basement stairs (aprox 12).
All materials and supplies provided by the homeowner, all equipment tools and labour to be supplied by contractor. All construction materials to be disposed of by the contractor.
Looking for a registered/reputable/insured company to undertake a basement renovation job. We are looking for someone with a lot of tiling experience as were looking to tile the entire basement.
We experienced minor flooding awhile back. A company has taken care of the tear down (removing the old floor, bottom 2ft drywall and removal on contents etc)
The finished part of the basement measures 18.75 ft x 18.75 ft
We would like this area to be tiled with wood like ceramic tiles.
Possibly a self levelling concrete used as a base
With the walls opened, we can see that the electrical wires going to the outlets look quite degraded and need to be replaced.
Drywall/baseboards installed
The unfinished part is 18.75 ft by roughly 10 or 12 ft.
The rough cement floor scraped down?
We would like cheaper ceramic tiles to be installed in this area.
The cement walls painted.
This job would been to be completed ASAP as we're paying for off site content storage!
