Recently purchased a home and considering renovating the Kitchen (approx 12X12) and an Ensuite (approx 8 X 10).
Kitchen Reno would potentially involve wall removal and relocations of plumbing and electrical. Ensuite Reno would potentially involve moving the toilet and converting the bathtub to a shower stall (tile).
Looking for design ideas for both projects.
Looking for the following work to be done:
- remove tile
- install new tile
- remove counter, sink and faucet and install new ones
- remove large "wall to wall" mirror and install new smaller one
- install two new light fixtures on either side of mirror
- replace shower head fixture (which will involve going through the wall (not the tile side) to get at plumbing and then fix drywall from this.
Materials will be provided. This is an estimate for service only.
Main bathroom is 9.5 x 5.5 ft. Currently consists of 48" vanity, toilet and tub/shower with tile surround. Floor is mosaic tile. Small medicine cabinet in wall beside vanity and wall mounted mirror in front of cabinet. Bulkhead over vanity contains fluorescent light fixture and there is a bulkhead over the tub as well.
Would like to remove all components. Replace tub with similar standard tub and use a surround that mimics tile (eg: Utile by MAAX). Consider removing bulkhead above tub. Believe that existing toilet can be reused. Replace vanity with new vanity with undermounted sink and granite (manmade) countertop. Increase storage space by installing wall mounted cabinets above vanity on both sides of mirror (and likely use a mirrored medicine cabinet in the centre as well). Existing medicine cabinet to side of vanity would need to be removed to not interfere with front mounted cabinets.
Bulkhead containing light fixture above vanity would need to be removed and a new light fixture installed.
Flooring replaced with a large tile.
Do not foresee any requirement to move electrical or plumbing.
Please quote for complete job, but also identify if you are willing to allow homeowner to complete some aspects of the work themselves (eg: demolition).
If main bathroom goes well, would also consider future work to include ensuite bathroom, kitchen, front entryway along similar themes.
The bath room is approximately 10 feet by 8 feet and has a counter top with two sinks, a toilet, a shower stall and a jacuzzi tub. There are also two windows, one being where the jacuzzi is located. The shower stall has a glass window looking out over the jacuzzi.
We would like to do the following:
Remove the jacuzzi because it is never used. Expand the shower stall so it takes over the spot occupied by the jacuzzi and create a large shower area. The toilet is new but we would like to have it moved to the ground floor powder room to rplace the one there. We would have to get a new one for the ensuite bathroom. We would like to refinish the cabinet front with new doors and replace the counter top with preferably a granite one. The two sinks would also be replaced with new ones and all the water faucets and showere heads with new modern styles. The floor is linoleum and will also need to be replaced. Would prefer tiles that do not feel cold in winter. The house is approximately 26 years old and is located in Barrhaven.
We would like a ball park estimate for the job so we can decide if we want to go ahead.
Hi, we are looking to remove the large tub and deck and install a smaller tub and deck. Would also like to replace all the floor tile.. The shower is to be expanded to 72". There is currently a door into another room next to the existing shower. This has to be drywalled so it can become part of the new shower.
The toilet will be replaced but stay in the same spot. The vanity and adjoining closet will remain. We would like to keep the existing wall finish, realizing some wall tiling may be necessary to cover it up when the existing deck is removed.
Thank you.

It is time to renovate the master bathroom. We may need to move toilet; We want a wet room steam shower. Find me the best shower nozzle with full "sandblasting" effect. New tub; new vanities and counters, new sinks (rough in for 2 but only install one sink) new lighting, tile, underfloor heating. We could take space from adjacent closets if needed.
Hi,
We are in the process of purchasing a new home in Orleans and are thinking of taking advantage of the Mortgage Plus program at our banking institution to help finance a modest master bathroom renovation. The home was built in in 1988 and it is still the original bathroom! The approximate dimensions are 10x12 feet and we would be looking to completely gut the existing bathroom. We are willing to help with demolition or any other aspect of the renovation that could potentially help with cost containment. Are you able to provide any idea of pricing based on the above description. We are really not looking for the most high end or elaborate finishes, but rather prefer a clean and functional bathroom.
Thanks for your time,
Amber
We are experiencing issues in our master bathroom ceiling; the light fixture in the shower is dripping. We don’t know if it’s due to the fan not working properly, which may have caused a pool of water in the ceiling, or if it’s a bigger issue with the roof.
I'm looking for a reliable contractor who could come to see it ASAP and get a ballpark for the initial visit.
Thank you
The house is approx. 20 years old and I want to upgrade some of the rooms. I suspect it was the previous tenant who installed the tub surrounds. They are old and creak when stood in, but are nor leaking. The laminate kitchen counter top is in the shape of a V, with 2 sinks at the V junction. It is old and discoloured.
I'm looking for more of a 'handyman' to replace a bathroom fan and do repairs to a sink faucet and toilet (both drip/run).
I would ideally like to renovate two bathrooms entirely in teh next few years, but in teh meantime, I'm just looking to take care of the needed fixes....
We recently had some water damage from a 2nd floor bathtub. The resulting damage was:
1. The upstairs bathroom
2. The dining room ceiling
3. The basement ceiling
Current state:
1. The bathroom has been demolished.
2. The dining room ceiling has been cleaned and fully exposed.
3. The basement ceiling has also been cleaned and exposed.
What we are looking for:
1. Bathroom
- Move the bathtub plumbing
- Install new tub (in place)
- Build & tile tub surround
- Move plumbing for new vanity
- Install new vanity
- Tile the floor
- Install toilet
2. Main floor
- Install new ceiling
- Replace trim around 1 window
- Paint ceiling & 1 wall
3. Basement
- Install ceiling
- Paint ceiling
It is for bathrooms to be built in an apartment building. We would be in need of a three piece, a size a little bigger than a locker size room. We need a quote for thirty three bathrooms to be installed. These are two bedroom suites, the new bathroom would be located directly beside an existing bathroom. Plumbing would be easy access to obtain for the drain and water flow. The floor is cement, would be easy to place tile or whatever is chosen for the flooring.
I need help to complete my powder room (4 ft X 4ft) renovation. The toilet leaked and the floor needs to be replaced. I got the flooring, toilet and vanity, just lacking the time and knowledge/experience to complete the plumbing project. I also need to replace the ceiling fan, also already bought.
We would like to renovate a small room off of our kitchen. This room has a vanity-sink, toilet and washer dryer. The toilet and vanity are on one side of the room, the washer dryer on the other.
The floor dimensions of the room are 67" x 106". There is an existing bulkhead overhead at 80" for a bi-fold door track system, but there is no installed hardware, as the previous doors had been removed and the bulkhead painted. The bi-fold doors will conceal the washer-dryer, and are separate from the pocket door entrance.
We have selected new porcelain tile, a new vanity, new mirror and new bi-fold doors for a 67" x 80" opening to conceal the washer dryer. Above the washer dryer we would like a counter top (already selected) installed, to span the 67" width of the room over the washer (front loader) dryer. We would also like some storage cupboards / shelves above the counter top.
We would like the room painted, and an overhead light fixture (already purchased) installed to replace the existing light structure.
Our bathroom just needs some minor repairs -- all the tiles in the tub-surround need re-grouting (tiles are about 4x4). The area is about the length and width of the tub, and extends upwards to dropped ceiling height (abt 6 feet?) ... Also, at least two tiles need to be re-applied. We had waterproof drywall installed when we had the bathroom redone, about 8 years ago.
I'm looking for an electrician too -- to install a spotlight above the tub, and an exhaust fan.
Thanks in advance,
Alix
Need to move washer and dryer from basement laundry location to first floor room. This is a bungalow and the basement is finished. The proposed location for laundry is next to, but in a separate room, from an existing bathroom. I assume the major issue is dealing with a ceiling that is fiinished?
House is approx.10 yrs old in Riverside South.
There is more than enough space in the new room - it is actually a 3rd small bedroom.
Thank you
Cindy
We hired a renovation company to complete a full home renovation. After 8 months we have learned that not only are certain areas and items not done but that the inspection reports completed with the city all failed.
We need a contractor that can look at the status of the home and help us meet and close the permits/inspection requirements as well as finish work in certain areas of our home.
The main missing pieces are in the ensuite bathroom. We need to have shower doors installed as well as plumbing to be checked on all fixtures and possible adjustments on the shower head and bathtub.
We need help and appreciate your time and expertise.
I am an owner of a condo on the 11th floor of an 11 story building. It's a 2 bed-2bath condo. The bathroom I want renovated is only about 40 square ft (5 ft by 8 ft).
I have a list of materials that I prefer to use for construction, cost of those materials is about $2500 pre-tax. I'm open to similar substitutions if the quality is equal or higher to the materials I like. I would prefer to redo the shower floor with an acrylic shower pan style base instead of tiles, since it's easier to maintain (no grouting)
Bathroom has a standup shower (about 5 ft by 3 ft dimension) with glass door, toilet, and vanity. It also has a small medicine cabinet, mirror, shower fan with light, vanity light. Brand new toilet was installed 1 month ago, so I'm thinking of re-using it but open to suggestions.
House is 25 years old - two projects to undertake.
Project 1 - ensuite bathroom - remove existing bathtub & install corner shower. Install cabinet in other corner where bathtub was. Remove and replace vanity and light fixture - possibly replace toilet. Install ceramic on floor and walls as required.
Project 2 - main bathroom - replace bathtub with jetted tub - replace large vanity and light fixture - possibly replace toilet. Install ceramic tile on floor ans walls as required.
