Hello,
I am looking for a Hot Tub install, you will be required to drill the foundation to the outside from the basement, a junction box will be required as there is no more space left on the panel, also will need to connect a dishwasher to the new junction box, materials can be provided by me or you can price all in, (Junction box, 60amp breaker panel for hot tub, outside wiring, inside wiring, and other material etc)
I have done small renovation in the kitchen and it requires the following:
1- Replace the old chandelier with a new one (same location)
2- Re-locate/ shift the fridge plug 10 inches to the left
3- Replace old light switches and plug in with new ones ( same location)
4- Replace the old under cabinets light with new ones ( same location) - the old ones are removed
I have two projects that will require an electrician. I would like to get separate quotes for each project in one visit. I am looking for a free estimate in order to determine difficulty, cost and timing for planning purposes. Looking for solutions based on experience to balance cost vs options in order to achieve outcome. Electrician must be willing to provide written estimate and ESA license number verification.
Immediate project (within 4 weeks to 2 months) - support to basement reno with four elements. 1) I forsee the need for an extension/re-wire/re-position of an existing outlet and install of at least one additional outlet. 2) I also have two ceiling lights which are pull-string style in laundry/storage area. Looking at how easy/cost effective it would be to convert them to operate on a switch (two separate lights/separate switches). 3) In main area, replacement/install of existing ceiling light and possible options for addition of ceiling light fixture. 4) replacement of two breakers on panel, (40amp to 30amp fuse).
Future project (spring/summer 2012) - replace/re-wire of three lights in bedrooms. Currently mounted on wall near entry, looking for options/difficulty vs cost to mount in central ceiling.
Hello,
I'm in desperate need of 2 more double outlets in the kitchen; I'm looking to move the electrical box in my ensuite to accommodate a new vanity light (it was in an odd position and my new light fixture does not fit there properly); and, I need someone to connect a vanity light in my powder room because it's one of those that has an integrated ceiling exhaust fan (when you turn on the lights, the fan works automatically).
Thank you kindly for your help and time!!

This project involves the addition of some electrical outlets and lighting to an 11 foot x 21 foot space in an semi-finished basement. The basement has concrete walls (no framing) that are finished and painted. The ceiling is unfinished with existing electrical wiring running through the ceiling joists.
The entire basement has two electrical outlets, four overhead lights. Two of the lights are controlled by a switch and the top of the stairs leading to the basement, the other two are chain pull lights.
The Basement area requiring the additional electrical work currently has two overhead lights (chain pull lights) and no electrical outlets.
I would like to install the following:
- rewire 1 ceiling light to a wall switch in the area
- add two wall lights (for Sconces) with a 3-wire connection to the top of the stairs and wall switch.
- add six electrical outlets
- four along the walls
- 1 in the ceiling
- additional in another area of the basement (perhaps on a separate circuit breaker)
Nothing to extravagant. No drywall cutting or running the cables behind walls. Additionally, I will be providing the lamps.
Thank you,
David
My DSL provider suspects that our slow DSL speed is due to degraded cable connections - either in our house or on Bell's lines. Since the house is old and no maintenance has been done on the phone wiring for at least 15 years, we would like to get it checked and if necessary repaired or upgraded to current standards.
The wiring is in the rafters of an unfinished basement (bungalow), so fairly easy to access.
(Picture attached to give you some idea of the age & condition of the setup ... NOTE: there used to be several plug-in points for phones all over the house, but only one is used and needs to be maintained now, so what you see on the picture is perhaps more complicated than it needs to be.)
Please quote:
- your minimum charge (just for comming out and checking)
- a worst-case estimate (complete replacement of indoor phone cabling (the connection serves only one phone & a DSL modem).
I would like to Put a celing fan and light in the master bedroom. There is no ceiling light in the room, so there is no light fixture's box. I have the fan and the box with the appropriate support required, I need the wire and an experience electrician to put a box in and bring power to the box with the appropirate switch.
I want to have a light fixture installed above my kitchen sink. It requires building up the area ready for installing wiring and the light fixture itself. A couple more electrical plugs in the kitchen would also be required. I own a condo in a building so the ceiling is cement.
I also need to have some kind of support installed atop of my bedroom window and to reinstall two blinds and two vertical certains. The joists are metal.
An estimate for this work would be appreciated. Thank you.
1. The air vent in the small washroom is making a loud clanging noise whenever I turn it on.
2. The ceiling air vent above the kitchen stove stopped working.
3. The elctric outlet in the kitchen sticks out from the wall.
4. There are two dead electric outlets.
5. The outdoor nightlight will be replace with an infrared lighting fixture.
Hi!
We are interested in a 100+ y/o house with a mix of electrical systems (a bit of knob and tube and random work over the years).
We'd be interested in a rough quote of the cost to rewire the entire house. Here are the details:
1) We would be gutting most of the house, given easier access to walls/ceilings
2) adding 4 pot lights above the kitchen area
3) otherwise just a "normal" amount of switches/plugs for a 3,500 sq/ft house (powder room, two washrooms, 4 bedrooms + den). Basement plus 3 levels.
4) New electrical panel needed
5) Panel should have enough AMP to run two stoves, dryer and be ready to accommodate enough power to host an electrical car charger in the future
6) To the extent possible, remove as much of old wiring/electrical fixtures as possible
In the photo attached to this post you will see that the there is a wooden pole that is used to support the wire that brings power into my house. There are no electrical connections on the wooden pole. It is simply used to hold the wire in place. This wooden poll has decayed down the center of the pole and I am concerned that at some point in time the wooden pole will no longer be able to support the wire. I have called Ottawa Hydro and they have advised me that fixing this is not something they do and that I must hire an electrician to do this. I am in the process of arranging to have my roof reshingled so the actual removal of the wooden pole can be done by the roofers after it is no longer supporting the wire.
If you are qualified to do this type of work and are interested in doing this please provide me with a quote.
If you have questions about this job please let me know what those questions are.
Thank you.

I would like to install a new outdoor receptacle on a dedicated line and breaker.
There is a free breaker slot in our electrical box so that's not a problem. The outdoor receptacle would be about 6 feet from the electrical box and the wiring would go through an unfinished part of the basement. The receptacle would be placed on an outside wall covered with aluminum siding. The wall is not protected from rain (no significant eaves) so the receptacle used should be very water tight to avoid breaker tripping. The receptacle is to be used to power computer, audio equipment and possibly small appliances (low amp).
Thanks for submitting a quote
Hello,
My name is Agustin. I live in the Ottawa, Orleans area.
I need to install an electrical box for ceiling lights in three bedrooms and the living room. Currently, this rooms have no electrical boxes or lights in the ceiling. Total should be 5 ceiling electrical boxes.
Also, I would like to install an additional power outlet in the electrical panel.
We want to replace our current overhead and under-cabinet fluorescent kitchen lighting with dimmable white LED strip lighting.
The length of the overhead perimeter lighting is approximately 49 feet and the under counter lengths are 78", 34", and 12". The existing overhead and under-cabinet lighting is fluorescent tubes and wired as on/off.
The overhead lighting will be installed in the existing crown molding and the under-counter lighting will be outfitted with channels and diffusers to soften the light.
We need professional assistance for the following tasks:
- advice on our choice of LED temperature, density, layout, and materials such as power supply and diffusers (Lee Valley seems to be a comprehensive solution for an initial kit and add-ons)
- wiring of new LED lights to existing wiring and replacement of switches with compatible equipment
- removal and capping of existing overhead light fixture
I have forced air electric heating in my home, which is a semi-detached 3-storey unit, measuring 1,750 sq. feet, that shares walls (east & west) with two adjoining units. The furnace is almost 27 years ago, but seems to be in fine condition. The power supply is 240 VAC. I wondered whether, since we're getting smart meters, adding an electrical thermal storage unit would reduce heating costs, which totalled about $1,000 in calendar 2009. How much would such a unit cost, and how much could it save me in heating costs?
Currently the laundry pair is in the basement. Wish to purchage a small (apartment sized) laundry pair for the main floor. Current thinking is have it in the dinning room in the corner where on the other side of the wall is the main floor bathroom. The dinning room currently has hardwood flooring (oak).
Installation should be done in such a way that it would be relatively easy to put it back to a normal dining room should we decide to sell.

Am looking for help with two internal wiring projects, one for cable TV wiring, one moving an irrigation controller (low voltage), and for help with an outdoor LED lighting project. Happy to split the job, i.e. if all you do is interior wiring no LED lighting, or vice versa, that's fine.
