Lots of work....New kitchen cupboards, kitchen floor, complete bathroom and complete powder room replacement of tub, sinks, toilets, painting of bathrooms, kitchen touch-ups, installation of laminate flooring in 2 areas, staining deck and fence, foundation parging, installing ice shielding for roof, drywall touch-ups, miscellaneous minor repairs.
25 yr old ~2500 sq ft detached home in need of upgrades to kitchen, main floor laundry room, master ensuite bathroom, plus new flooring in dining/living room.
Kitchen would include removing bulkhead/dropped ceiling, replacing counter and back splash, re-doing lighting, enlarging space for fridge, and painting cabinets. Since we plan to keep the cabinets, we expect increasing the space for the fridge will require custom cabinet work to match pattern, although we're open to other ideas, including all new cabinets.
Laundry room includes removing a closet, adding/replacing cabinets, adding new counter and sink, re-positioning washer, and adding a retractable central vac hose to existing central vac system.
Ensuite would include replacing tub, shower, sink/counter, and flooring.
Approx. dimensions: Kitchen 10x12, Laundry Rm 11x6, Ensuite 10.5x9.5, dining/living rm 25x11.
I am looking to have a "hole" made between my kitchen and my dining room. The wall in question is where we have our "hood" hanging plus a few kitchen cabinets. I am looking to have a hole cut out in the wall to bring the rooms "together".
I am hoping it can be plastered and then I'll do the painting. I might be looking to put up some tiles on the kitchen side given the cooker is there. We are wondering if it possible to somehow be able to have a hood of a kind there - but the main thing is cutting out the hole.
Kitchen renovation and upgrade of main floor bathroom. The kitchen reno requires some mechanical/electical services to be relocated. We also require a new french door to be installed on the kitchen's outside wall, to create a new access to the rear. Currently there is a 36 " windor in the location where the french door will be located. The opening will require the removal of outside brick and other structural work.
We have a very small mudroom on the main floor at the back of our house that leads to the back yard...we'd like to turn into a space for a stacked washer+dryer (that's pretty much all the room there would be in the space).
This would involve running plumbing to the space and adding an electrical outlet for the dryer (our basement isn't finished so hopefully that simplifies it a bit), as well as taking our the door out and sealing up the wall to the outside.
I have a photo I can send to give you an idea of the space.
Cheers,
Dave
Hi there,
I understand the industry is extremely busy at this time, as I have now had 2 companies let me down after agreeing to my siding job. If you think this may be a good fit for your company and can quote and begin my project quickly, please contact me. I am looking for the installation of about 3,000 sq. ft of Maibec board and batton, strapping, foundation and window flashings, soffit and facia to be done. In the Westboro beach area. If interested, please call me directly.
Thanks,
Darren
I am looking for a contractor to replace the main beam in my basement. I have an engineer report and building permit on hand. See report for detail. Please take note that the beam will have to be replace in totality with a steel beam.
(Not mentionned in the report due to the report been made before the discovery of the cutted beam.) please call after 4pm weekdays and anytime during the week-end.
Thank you
We’re looking at a main floor renovation to our house and want to get quotes to see what we’re looking at price-wise. We’ve contacted two different kitchen designers for a complete redo of the kitchen, so any renovation would need to be coordinated with that work, but would also like to do the following:
- move a powder room bathroom over from its current location (approximately four feet) to expand the kitchen
- cover an existing single-door leading to the back yard and installing a double-French door at another location to provide a new opening to the back yard
- new flooring throughout
- replace front door of the house
- new fireplace facade
- removing / adjust the size of a large hall way coat closet to make more room in the hall way
I’m looking for itemized quotes for each point I listed above.
Just purchased a new house. It was originally a cottage built in 1949 and in 2000 they renovated and put a new roof on it. The new roof was not supported properly, is leaning on the old roof structure and is causing a beam that runs across the house to sag. The roof needs to be properly supported, the beam replaced and an entire new roof put on. In the process, we would like cathedral ceilings in the living, dining, and kitchen areas, approx 17x40ft of space.
The house is approximately 1350 sq ft, high ranch bungalow (40X34).
There are approximately 6 walls (non supporting) that need to be knocked out to create an open concept design.
A full bath (approx 5x7) needs to be completely renovated including, new tile tub/shower, vanity, toilet, floors, and a 3 piece ensuite bath needs new tile stand up shower, toilet, vanity and floors.
There is no dishwasher in the kitchen. Existing yow bowl sink needs to replace with a single bowl sink to make space. Water pipes, drain and electric lines for the dishwater required. Will need to decide if new counter top will be needed with changes in the spacing and sink. TownHouse was built in 1982, in very good condition.
The house is a bungalow with a partially finished basement. Approximately 1,000 of living space on main floor. Basement has about 600 sq feet finished and remainder unfinished. We would like to add more living space, with a family/entertainment room as the primary goal.
I would like to know a cost comparison so we can decide if it is better to completely finish the basement or build up.
Dampness issues in unfinished part of basement would likely require some work with the foundation. Walls, flooring, and ceiling all required in both parts of basement.
Could you provide a general estimate for both options?
Thank you.
We get possession of our new home June 01 after which we have about 3 weeks to get our reno completed and move in. Our absolute max budget (incl all taxes) is 48K and we only welcome responses from companies that can offer a guarantee on this price and timeline. The only showing of the house is tomorrow 3.30-4.30 after which it can only be seen upon closing. The list is as follows:
Basement finishing (approx 800 sq ft)
-Add office, rec room, and 3 piece bathroom (rough-in is there already)
-Carpet
-Dry wall, framing, some electrical (pot lights), extra insulation (current insulation doesn't run all the way down)
Kitchen
-Replace laminate counters with granite, new back splash, double under mount sink
Living, dining, family room
- Refinish hardwood floors
Stairs, 3 bedrooms
- New carpet
Ensuite bathroom
- Replace laminate counter with granite and 2 sinks
- Replace shower with new glass shower
- Replace tile on floor and tile surrounding tub
- Replace toilet
Living room
- Add stone to one wall
All rooms
- Paint
We need some plywood platforms (approx 80 feet long by 4 feet wide) built in the basement of our facility to place staff lockers on. Once built, we would also need someone to remove the lockers from their current location and reinstall them on the new platforms. There is approx 30 lockers to be moved and reinstalled.
I have an unused fireplace that is built into a wall corner. I would like to reclaim that space and also remove half of a wall between the kitchen and dining area. There is some potential unutilized space at the end of the kitchen where the wall could be opened up and made into a pantry area, but somebody needs to look at it to see if it is feasible.

Hello,
We are preparing to sell our house and have a list of things that need doing. We are interested in a quote on all or a portion of these jobs.
exterior deck repair (stabilizing stairs, replacing 2, 16' deck boards, replacing some lattice,)
hang two replacement two storm doors
sand and varnish family room (20x10)
fix pocket door (keeps coming off hinges)
minor carpentry around wall and door that were installed
hang two inside doors
replace upstairs shower stall
Also need the house painted, interior.
I want to modify the corner turn of the main HVAC duct and moved the 25' duct side way a distance about 10"-12" to be closer to the steel beam of my basement. There are currently 8-10 pipes branched out from it.
I'd like to know how much it would it cost, roughly.
Thanks in advance,
Chan
There is currently a laundry room in between the kitchen and the dining area. I want to have an open concept kitchen. Inorder to do this, I need the laundry moved upstairs and a load bearing wall removed and replaced with a beam.
I need this work completed in August, first two weeks. Therefore, I want to book the work now if possible so I have everything lined up for the beginning of August.
I'm only interested in companies that are BBB certified with no complaints. I'm also on a tight budget and only looking for reasonable cost estimates.
If you are able to meet this timeline, please contact me and we can meet up to discuss the project in my house
Thanks
My 1.5 story house was build in 1940s, I believe. I am interested in getting quotes to move the staircase to the upstairs as well as the basement stairs. The basement is unfinished but the loft has knotty pine flooring. The main floor has hardwood. I would also like to knock out the wall on one side of the stairs and part of the (load-bearing, I believe) wall on the other side of the stairs. This job will involve:
- Building a new staircase to the upper floor with spindles in new location
- Rebuilding/reusing old staircase for basement in new location
- Cutting holes in the floors
- Rebuilding part of both floors
- Removing and resupporting part of a load bearing wall
- Removing a non-loadbearing wall
- Rerouting the ductwork in the basement
- Building a wall under the new stairs where the basement stairs are going down
- Other things I haven't thought of?
Please be specific with quote as we are willing to do things like removing all of the plaster from walls and sourcing and installing new hardwood flooring so we would only need the subflooring to be built, to reduce costs if need be.
Quote would involve removing a radiator, installing new tile, heated flooring, building and installing a custom wood bench, replacing some drywall, and replacing an outside door (and frame around it).
Room size is 9' 6" x 7'. I've attached before and after photos, the room is essentially good to go. The old tile and bench have been removed.
The demolition has already been done, the mudroom was flooded as a result of a radiator leak. The insurance folks have remediated and fixed any damage.
It would technically involve providing two quotes. The first quote would be to bring the mudroom back to what it was before the flood and the second quote is the upgrades (like heated floors, new door, removing the radiator, etc.)
We're located in Tunney's Pasture area of Ottawa. Hoping to get it done sooner than later as it looks like a construction zone in a high traffic area.
