Hi,
The drywall on the ceiling of my bathroom needs to be repaired. Underneath it is cement (it's an apartment building). The cause is NOT related to water leaking or moisture. It got unglued over time. The area to repair is about 6x4. A drywall, some mud and possibly painting at the end would be sufficient.
Can i get a rough estimate of how much i can expect to pay for that job? and how long it would take to fix it?
* attached are pictures *
Thanks
Greg
I have purchased a home that requires some work. It is a row townhouse with neighbors on both sides. My unit does not have eavestroughing installed on the house which has caused the land in the backyard to slope in a bit towards the house. I would like to have eavestroughing installed and have the land graded in the backyard (doing so might require a window well to be installed around the small basement window). I am looking for an estimate for the work needed. The closing for the house is not until the end of September but I would like an estimate for how much this might cost. It is something I will want done in early October.
House is 26 years old, mostly brick, well insulated and in need of a number of repairs over the next few years.
These are the jobs I would like to have done this year:
Remove an existing wood burning fireplace and cap off chimney.
Install hardwood floor, probably an area of 80-100 square feet to cover hole left by fireplace removal to the end of the wall.
Sand/refinish floors of living room, dining room and hall way.
Laundry room: 9.5 x 5.5 feet. Considering possibility of installing a doggy shower if possible. New window, new waterproof gyprock, tile floor/wall, install vent (wall adjacent to unheated well ventilated garage or front porch if not too unsightly). Basement below not finished, easy access for plumbing, wiring.
I would need the following:
Paint the kitchen ceiling
Install a light fixture in the stairs going up to the rooms
Install 3 new fire detectors the old ones are 10 years old and they are electric not battery operated
2 doors need to be adjusted as they can't slide on the track easily.
I have just purchased a home that was originally built in 1964, this home was redone completely but some of the work was questionable so I am wondering if you guys would be available to provide a free estimate of work. Here is the catch I do not take possession of the house until May 1st, so would be looking for the work to be done in the first couple of weeks of May.Here is a brief description of the work that I am looking at getting done, can you please let me know if you do one or all of these types of repairs and we can arrange a meeting for a free estimate.
Here is a listing of the jobs:1) The bathroom on the main level of the house has a fan, this fan is not vented to the outside instead it is vented to the attic. I would like to gave this fan vented to the outside and to have the insulation restored where it has been disturbed because of the fan.2) On the chimney the concrete cap is cracked and there are open mortarr joints in the brickwork I would like to have these repaired to eliminate any chance of possible water entry. Also there is some minor repairs to brick in the exterior of the house.3)The workmanship on the soffits was pretty questionable their are places where the nails in the soffits have come out and there are some "droops" in the soffits and they appear loose, also they appear to have the original plywood underneath I would like to remove the plywood and install styrofoam baffles at the soffits.4)Also I would like to have the gutters and douwnspouts I would like to have them added on the left side of the house as they are not currently on that side of the roof. Can you please let me know if you do all of these types of work? Also what your availability is like in the first couple of weeks of May.
Install two safety grab bars in bathtub.
One 16" grab bar installed vertically on side wall to enter the tub.
One 24" grab bar installed diagonally on back wall of tub, slanted up towards shower head.
Tub has an acrylic tub surround.
Bars have already been procured.
Residence is a rental apartment unit.
Hi,
My name is Ko-Yung Liu the purpose of this e-mail is to describe my need and to obtain a quote to have someone to help repair the interior damage caused by flood in my basement of the house located in Barrhaven. The interior repair involves in putting new insulation, drywall, painting, baseboard, etc to mostly one wall in my basement, as well as putting new carpet underpad and seaming to a small area/section in the basement. Because of the flooding (water coming through the basement window), I would also appreciate putting caulking/insulation around the basement window frame as well.
I already have a detailed estimate by component, which was provided by the an Emergency Service company. Obviously I can do the painting as well as buying materials such as carpet pad and baseboard, and do the interior carpet cleaning myself, so I would appreciate if you can assist in looking at the specs in the PDF document and perhaps provide me with a quote (focussing mostly on the more technical aspect of the repair).
Ideally the work could start in early to mid September after my current foundation contractor completes their work in late August.
Thanks a lot for your help. Please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail and if you feel that a scheduled appointment to visit my house will help facilitate the discussion.
Sincerely,
Ko-Yung L

Currently buying a house that is in need of a few repairs. It would include (but not limited to) a paint-job for all the rooms in the house, re-carpeting job, and some minor finishing aspects for things around the house. Depending on the estimate, I'm potentially looking at fully finishing the basement (Currently partially finished), but ultimately depends on the cost. I currently have access to some people specialized with each task (eg. painting, carpeting, etc.) and have quotes for them, but I'm mainly looking for someone who has access to some good deals on the materials that are required (as some contractors have). Total square footage of the house is about 800, so it's not that big, but your best estimate would be appreciated. I will also be looking at references as well. Thanks!

I'm looking to get a few things done at the most cost effective way for my 2-storey (+basement) townhouse in Ottawa South Keys area.
1.The hardware of many windows are not operative. Need to hire a qualified contractor to repair/replace the window hardware.
2. Air flow measured at the registers in the two small bedrooms on 2nd floor are much weaker than that in the master bedroom. Need to check the ductwork for leakage and/or blockage, repair as needed.
3. The ventilation fan of the basement bathroom discharges into the basement. Need to
correct the discharge to the outside of the building;
4. Also need a professional the check whether the Aluminum wires are pig-tailed (and certified by ESA)? ESA are not conducting inspection at the moment.
It'd be nice to have all of these done at the same time but I'd still be interested if you are only able to do some of these things.
Need to have pole installed to hold 22" satellite dish. Height of pole cannot exceed height of existing fence, roughly 4'.
Initial small hole has been dug, but rock was found at around 9". Condo unit was build on site of former quarry.
Thanks for your consideration of the above.
