I have a basement of a house in Barrhaven that I would like to get sprayfoamed with closed cell foam. The walls are just over 7 feet but with the rim joist the wall is just under 8” There is 740 square feet that need to be insulated, including the rim joists. Could I get someone out to give me an estimate for the job? Currently there are no interior walls next to the concrete, but I’ll frame the entire basement before you get there.
Anyway, I am looking to get the work done as soon as possible.
Thanks.
Dave.
-Build two walls including interior doors (sound insulation, solid core doors)

Wall 2: approx 3 m wide, low ceilings (approx 90inch), part of the wall is sloped
-Remove part of a closet wall
-Remove carpet flooring and install wood floor (approx 272 ft2 area)
We are looking for blown insulation into an 80 year old home, preferably from the exterior. Our mortar is sandy coloured, so know that this might look absolutely dreadful given the grey colour of the filler that might be used. Any other options available? We don't really want to go from inside, but will if we really have to.
Our main concern it that the blown insulation will not settle too much over time. I have heard through friends that they achieved savings and comfort for three years, then the insulation all settled and they are back up to full heating costs and have a drafty house again. I need to know that this won't happen, and what I can do if it does - ie. guarantee
I would prefer responses by email.
Mold Busters removed mouldy drywall in bedroom ceiling following a leak due to shingles having blown off the roof. They discovered when doing this that the attic had inadequate ventilation. (The insulation was still wet a few weeks after the shingles had been replaced.) So I need the following done:
1. Replace the missing drywall in ceiling. (Hole is 10' x 6') The rest of the ceiling has a bumpy popcorn? finish (sort of visible on the photo)
2. Replace the missing insulation in attic.
3. Add venting (baffles?) to the attic. (Footprint of house is roughly 20' X 25')

Hi, we have purchased a 1950s semi-detached with old and inadequate insulation around the house rim. We would like to get some old rock insulation removed and new rock batting put in; in a few spots this involves removing some old cardboard ceiling and getting above an inconvenie\nt 2 x 4. This is really a do it yourself project except that we are too busy with work and I have asthma.
This is really not a big job - 1 day at most I think. The two 2x4s along two of the walls are the only complication; I'm interested in input on how to deal with these.
We have a cold storage room (6' x 7.5') under the front step. We recently had the exterior wall repaired adding an air gap membrane. We now want the interior of the cold storage room insulated to prevent any condensation on the cold cement. We are not planning to use it as a cold storage room after the insulation, but rather as a storage room. All the walls, ceiling and floor in the cold storage room are cement with a standard door for access. Willing to consider foam, rigid board or batt insulation.
Looking to have insulation in our addition removed, spray foamed and then insulation reinstalled to cover and seal.
Hard to explain, the attached photos show that my insulation in our addition has fallen and failed. Need to fix so that my pulling isn’t exposed next winter. There’s a small crawl space between ground and insulation to access.
Our house is approx. 6 years old and has an unfinished basement. Two of the interior basement walls (approximately 105 ft) show a lot of humidity in the winter (there is frozen water on these walls). I am not inclined to use spray foam (health issues) and instead would like to use Acoustic sealer in joist cavities, then Roxul and finally vapour barriers. Is it a good idea and if so how to find a reasonable constructor to do this job and how much it'd cost?
The house if quite old and is thought to have be built in the 1850s. Two stories, about 1200 square feet. The insulation is quite terrible and the temperature within the house varies greatly according to the outside temperature.
Not too sure what could be done.
I have been suggested that foam insulation could be very useful. There doesn't seem to be much insulation at all in the roof. Looking for job to be done before winter.
We are renting the house, if more specific info is needed than we can ask the owners.
My townhouse bathroom gets a lot of condensation on the ceiling in the winter. And the ceiling fan is old and doesn't move much air. There is no outside window in the bathroom, and the warm/moist air from showers is causing moisture on the ceiling, especially in the cold winter months.
I'm looking for a contractor that can do the following:
- replace/repair vapour barrier above bathroom ceiling (in attic)
- replace (or upgrade) the insulation above bathroom in attic (I'm thinking fiberglass, but I don't care. Probably need R40)
- remove old bathroom ceiling fan, and install new fan (install, attach vent to existing pipe, and connect wires)
The townhouse was build in 1985. The attic is insulated with a loose cellulose (newspaper?) material. The bathroom is 10' x 6.2'.
Please provide a quote for the work, labour and materials separately. The materials can be adjusted depending on the actual costs depending on the type of fan, or type of insulation.
If you need to visit and see the the site, we can arrange a date.
Location is in the Baseline & Woodroofe area, near Algonquin College.
Thanks for your bids!
Steve
I'm searching for options for soundproofing the ceiling in my bedroom. I do not have access to the room above. My budget is flexible and will depend on the options available and their effectiveness. The room is about 200 square feet. The ceiling is 8 feet high and easily accessible. The upstairs room has laminate flooring. The main noises are the floor cracking and neighbors walking heavily.
Thanks for your time!
Two rooms in our house tend to be alot colder in the winter then other rooms. We need somebody to come in & do thermal imaging scan to check 1) is there any missing insulations inside the wall?
2) give us an estimate of how much it will cost to fix this problem. Our house is a single family house and is about 12 years old.
Thanks
