I would like to convert my bungalow's basement into an in-law suite for myself, the homeowner.
My daughter, her husband and their 3 children now live in this house with me and I've chosen to move into the basement.
At present, there is only a large rec. room 44'x11'4" and one smaller room 14'6"x11'. I would like to have those rooms divided to allow for a 3 piece bathroom, bedroom (or 2 small bedrooms) and a combined kitchenette/living room. At the moment I have no bathroom or kitchen facilities downstairs. I'd also like one, long, north-facing wall insulated and the current ceiling to be removed, soundproofed (if that's possible) and renewed. There is also an unfinished area which is where the furnace and washer/dryer are located.
I'd like to emphasize that this renovation is purely for my personal benefit. I have no intentions at any time of renting it out as a basement apartment.
Permit application approved by city of Peterborough for finishing the basement with two new bathrooms, two laundry, ceiling , framing drywall to finish and flooring .All 7 windows replaced with energy star graded. And 3 of of those 7 windows needs to be egressed (meaning enlarged) need some one to start work from June 2023.
Approximately 1200 square foot basement in 15 year old elevated bungalow in west end. Unfinished basement needs bathroom, bar area, living area with gas fireplace insert, bedroom, and laundry room. Living area and bedroom to be carpeted, stairs and bar area to be finished with laminate flooring, bathroom floor to be finished with ceramic tile. Bathroom requires shower insert, toilet, and vanity with sink. Ceilings require sound proofing.
Our basement is dark and musty. We just want to brighten it up and eliminate the damp musty smell. We are not looking to dump thousands of dollars into this project. We are just looking to brighten up the space and make it usable for either a family room, or a 4th bedroom. The square footage is about 800 to 900 sq. ft There is a laundry room/furnace room as well as a 3 peice bath and a room that was being used as a bedroom that we use as a computer/storage room. We are open to opening up the space.
Bottom line is we want to lighten the place up and give it a coat of paint. We dont want to spend alot. I am handy, but don't have the time to take on such a project. To help offset some of the costs, I would be willing to do the demo work.
If you are interested, please email me back and we can set up a time for checking it out.
We would like the room finished with a drop ceiling. There are 2 exterior walls. One of those is the 15ft and the 11 ft one has a 3ft window in the middle of it. The outer walls would require studding. We would like to use styrofoam for sound and insulation.
Nothing fancy. We have the door for the room. We are not doing flooring aside of buying an area rug for the room.
We are looking for someone to finish our basement. We live in a new build home with an unfinished basement. Insulation and framing is done, we need everything else, except painting as we would do that ourselves. We looking for one large living space, a storage area and one washroom. The plumbing is roughed in for the washroom.
We want a subfloor then laminate floor and tile in the washroom. We would also like soundproof drywall.
A rough estimate of the basement is 30 feet by 16 feet.
Hello, I would like to finish my basement. The basement is approximately 1400 sq ft. I want 2 bedrooms, and a 4 pcs bathroom installed. The rough in for the bathroom and wet bar is there already there. Pretty much basement needs to be framed, dry walled and electrical. I would need this done as soon as possible.

We just bought a 53 year old raised bungalow in Peterborough, Ontario. It is on the west end and we are hoping to create a basement suite for student rental. We need:
-A kitchenette built (water line and electrical/venting for stove). We would assemble the cupboards etc
-Wall to divide the upstairs from downstairs with a door (it is a split entry but also has a separate entrance for tenant)
-Another wall with door to make an extra bedroom (ceiling is only 6 foot in that area)
-Sound proofing with insulation into dropped ceiling
-Water line to upstairs so that we can have laundry facilities upstairs
-Not sure if we need to upgrade to 200 amp service to accommodate increased electrical use?
I will be in Peterborough June 21 if able to arrange to get a quote then.
