We just bought a 2900 SqFt 2 story house. The basement is unfinished. Looking for somebody to help design and finish the basement. We want most of the space to be left open for kid's play area, which we would also like to make as safe as possible with padded/carpeted walls and floors. We would like to turn the rest of the area into a 1 Bedroom Apartment.
I do have a limited budget and would pick a contractor based on best price and design. Based on the success of this project, we wiil consider the contractor for more projects, such as, kitchen counter replacement, finishihg the garage, kncoking down a wall between the formal living room and the family room, extend the deck, adding a walkway to the entrance door.

looking to finish 2 rooms in a basement of a newer townhouse. looking to add a spare bedroom with closet and a den and hallway.
The stairway will need to be finished, 3 electical outlets installed, flooring, electrical, a cable jack and phone jack.
I am flexible with the dates but i was hoping to have finished by the end of March.
The basement is currently open with no development.
I'm interested in free estimate of the materials and work to be done for my basement. The basement is divided in 2 part. First part is already finished but needs to be renovated (painted, change the door, etc) and the second one is not finished at all. The house is about 30 years old and it is in excellent condition.
Please call me or write a email in order to provide more details or to schedule an appointment for free estimation.
I am looking to renovate my unfinished basement.
1/ House is ~11 years old.
2/ Basement is ~1100sq ft.
3/ Layout - close off furnace room, build a room for an office, add a three piece (stand up shower, sink, toilet) bathroom, add a
gas fireplace (rough-in is present), add a small (sink and counter) wet bar. The remainder of the room will be open.
4/ Flooring - tile.
I can provide additional information over the phone.
I want to finish my basement into a basement apartment. The apartment will consist of one bedroom, a walk in closet, small den, bathroom, kitchen, and a combined living room/dining room. The basement will also have two separate laundry rooms, both with washer/dryers (probably stackable), one will have a utility sink. I would prefer laminate floors in the aparment, with tile floors in the bathroom and laundry rooms.
Some of the work has already been completed, consisting of some framing and some plumbing work. All the preliminary demolition work has already been done.
Depending on the cost I would also like to add two windows to the basement.
We have an old house, just so you know. The basement is done, but needs some more big changes. I need to have the carpet removed and have laminate flooring put in. I also want to add a bedroom, basically adding one wall lwith drywall etc. There is a bedroom there already but I need another one. I also would like to add a bathroom, probably in the laundry room.
If anyone is interested in quoting me on this, I would appreciate it...thanks
My basement renovation is 50% complete. The basement has been framed, drywalled and painted. The basement consists of a bedroom, walk-in closet, small den, bathroom, kitchen, foyer, small laundry room and a living room/dining room. I will be posting a picture of the floor plan.
I need a contractor to finish the renovation. I shall supply all the material. I am looking only for a quote for labour.
I plan to put laminate flooring in the bedroom, closet, den, hallway, and living room areas. Approximate square footage 550 sq. ft.
I plan to put tile in the bathroom, kicthen, foyer and entrance way area. Approximate square footage: 220 sq. ft.
The bathroom's plumbing has been roughed in, and the bathtub has been put in place. The bath/shower area requires tiling. Remaining to be installed are: 1) a toilet 2) a vanity, sink and countertop 3) a medicine cabinet 4) a linen tower (closet). The bathroom is 5 feet by 9 feet. Approximate floor space that requires tiling: 32.5 sq. ft.
For the kitchen, only the drain pipe has been roughed in. The hot and cold water pipes must be installed and attached to the existing water pipes. In addition to finishing the plumbing, the kitchen requires the installation of the kitchen cabinets, the installation of a sink and countertop, and the installation of a dishwasher (and the plumbing involved in installing the dishwasher). A picture of the proposed kitchen layout will be posted. Kitchen is approximately 8' by 8'.
The laundry room requires the installation of a drain pipe. The hot and cold water pipes for the laundry room have already been roughed in.
Again, I am only looking for a quote on LABOUR. To sum up the major parts of the job are as follows:
1) Installation of 550 square feet of laminate floor.
2) Installation of 220 square feet of ceramic tile.
3) Installation of a 5' x 9' bathroom, including tiling of floor and walls (in bath/shower area).
4) Installation of drain pipe and hook up of washer and dryer in laundry room.
5) Installation of kitchen including required plumbing (except for rough-in of drain pipe), kitchen cabinets, sink, countertop and dishwasher. Kitchen is approximately 8' by 8'.
Hello, our home is approx 2500 square feet and we would like to fix our basement. We already have a good plumber and electrician that have done work for us in the past however we are looking for a framer for a bathroom, a laundry room, and general basement framing. We are starting from scratch and will do most of the work ourselves from the drywall and on. The framing is difficult and time consuming for us. You must be insured and show pictures and provide references of work you have done in the past. We are very flexible with our timing as we are hoping to complete the basement by spring time.
Side entrance in place; basement approx 780 sq. ft. Needs basics--open concept with 2 finished rooms. 1. Washroom with stand up shower, vanity and toilet. The second room would just box in the furnace and double as a storage area. A drop ceiling, constructed of drywall, would be required in a small portion of the basement ceiling. All building materials will be provided for, and set up in the basement before project starts. Project is accessible from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Friday, and weekends if required. Expected start date is Monday, June 28, 2010. The home owner is optimistic that the project can be fininshed in 4-6 weeks ; )
I have a finished basement. Some water leaked into my basement a few months ago. In order to find out where the leak was coming from I had to remove some of the laminate floor and some of the drywall from the rear wall of the basement.
I need to have the laminate flooring and the drywall replaced/repaired. Some of the laminate floor boards were damaged and warped by the water and will be replaced by new boards. I will supply the laminate flooring. The laminate flooring used is glueless, tongue and groove strips.
The dimensions of the repairs are as follows:
70 - 80 square feet of laminate flooring needs to be replaced. (labour only)
30 square feet of drywall needs to be replaced. (12 feet [width] by 2.5 feet [height] - along one wall starting from the floor)
I do not require the drywall to be primed or painted. The area to be repaired is already insulated.
The floor already has underlay and vapour barrier installed.
I'm sure a good handyman can do both jobs.
I'd appeciate receiving your ball park estimates of what the job would cost.
Project is the standup shower, was a leak around the marble, and there is a little bit of mold on the surrounding wood and water on the inside floor, it is not a big job, but not sure if we have to gut the shower completely. It is a brand new house, and we would like to look at our options. We are only looking for esitmates.
