We are looking for creative ideas to maximize the space and available light (two very small windows). Would like a contractor who can get everything done (plumbing, electrical, permits, inspections, etc). Looking to start the project right away (Spring, 2013).
Also wanting to have a deck built in the backyard; but we can talk about that once we've agreed upon the basement details.
Basement layout with rough measurements: www.spritzcreative.com/upload/BASEMENT.jpg
basement ceiling needs jacking due to floor slope of main level living space sloping towards rear of house.
possible cause inappropriate / lack of proper bracing of ceiling support beam.
age of home roughly 50 yrs- recently purchased, previous owners did several serious reconstruction jobs themselves
(i assume as he was a contractor)
HELP!!!!!
We have a 1960's style basement - currently all dark panelling old red carpeting. We are going to be studding ourselves and we have the services of a master electrician so what we need help with is the drywall in the rec room, bedroom and bathroom that is there - as well as the plumbing in the bath. There is existing but I may want things moved around a bit and a shower definitely has to be built/installed (there is plumbing and drain work existing. Also, dead centre in the rec room is a post - the room is 20 x 16 and the post is at the 10 ft and 8 ft mark of the room. I would love to know if we can move or eliminate this post to open the space up. We live in a home build in 1968 - solid brick. Basement is dry.
Purchased home basement needs to be redone. Move in date June 15 but I have two more showings so can view before move in date. Approx 1100. sq feet. currently looks dated. Bathroom and Kitchen and two bedrooms to be done. Currently has all plumbing and one bedroom with panels. Make it modern and new. Needs to be gutted and start fresh but drywall can be placed right over the panelling as it is dry and good condition.
Hi, I own a multi level house and our upper basement is currently finished with 2 bedrooms and a center sitting room.
I would like interior walls removed, exterior wall drywall removed and re-insulated and then finished as one large room (approx. 16' X 30'). There is no plumbing and only minor electrical (moving outlets / switches from removed walls).
Please contact me for a quote.
I have a two-year old bungalow townhouse with unfinished basement. I would like to partially finish it, appx. 625 sq. ft., with a bedroom and 3-piece bathroom (already roughed in), and large rec room. We are capable of saving by painting ourselves and doing other simpler handiwork like trim. We also have found a freestanding vanity for the bathroom so that needs only to be quoted for installation.
I live in an older house with an unfinished basement and the main wood beams are cracking and are not so good. I need them all replaced. My basement is half crawl space and I am looking to also get the support on the outer part of the crawl space looked at. I believe it needs some attention as well. I am not looking to finish the basement, just to make it good and strong with no worrying.
I was wondering if you could come by my families house to give us some thoughts on doing a renovation in our basement. About 1/3 of it is finished but we are basically going to gut the whole thing and start from scratch. Looking at building 5 rooms: rec. room, bedroom, bathroom, laundry, & Work room. Let me know a night (after 4) that you could come by.
Thanks!
Cement basement currently - we would like to make it into a rec room for the kids. width from outside to outside is roughly 17 or 18 feet and the length is only limited by budget :) - Limited budget but let me know at minimum and obviously maximum is the sky but we need to be realistic. Let me know if you can help.
Hello, we are looking into renovating our main bathroom and the basement.
Main bath - floors and vanity
Basement - floors, ceiling, add pot lights, finish laundry room, finish storage area.
Looking for this to be completed before December 1, 2021.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.
With recent discovery of water entering the basement and removing the paneling found a hole in the foundation (poured concrete). From this I also found the basement is not insulated. So looking to make sure the basement is dry and then look to insulate and finish the basement to make it a livable space for the family to use.
I need 2 bedrooms IMMEDIATELY (Fully finished by August 30/31st) In an unfinished basement.
I also need a bathroom with a shower that I would like build as of the August 30/31st deadline but am willing to extend the deadline for it if needed.
Will pay cash. Immediate action required.
If needed I have a layout plan of the basement with measurements available.
I wish to finish part of my basement primarily a recreation room about 10 ft by 30 ft. Exterior walls (bare) need to be framed and insulated using 2 by 4 lumber, and insulated with r-14 roxul (24 inches on centre). Room size about 10 ft by 30 ft and exterior walls about 300 sq. ft. Interior walls already framed but not drywalled. Exterior walls are concrete block. Included in recreation room is a cold cellar ( 4 ft by 5 ft) which needs to be drywalled only included ceiling and insulated steel door installed. Also a closet needs to be completed. Quote to include taping and sanding only (no painting) and wiring of outlets and light switches. Ceiling tp be excluded as well as floor covering. Home is about 50 years old.
I own an approximately 35 year old home with an unfinished basement. The space is wide-open with a bathroom rough in. I will paint and purchase all accessories so quote would be for installation only. Ideally, I would like a rec room, bathroom and at least one bedroom. Perhaps an office/utility room.
Looking to finish the rest of our partially finished basement with 1 bedroom, a family room, bathroom, and storage.
-Wood framing preferable
-Laundry/Utilities/Storage to be walled off, and remain unfinished.
-Bedroom to include closet with sliding doors, and en-suite privilege
-Exterior walls already framed
-3 piece rough-in already present
I need a GC to do a full basement renovation in a bungalow I have in North St. Catharines. It is a rental property and the job will entail a complete re-do of the basement. The plans are presently being completed and the permits are being done with the City of St. Catharines. Plans are attached.
The upstairs is presently tenanted, so work will need to be completed during Monday-Friday, regular business hours while the tenants are away. I'm hoping to have the work completed in October.
Please contact me to arrange a time to meet.
Looking to add a 1BR 2nd suite in an existing finished basement
(galley kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, rec room, move existing laundry location)
Add separate fire door between suites
Change at least 1 basement window to allow for egress
Add main floor stacked washer/dryer
likely some landscaping to effectively widen current single lane driveway
Property possession Nov 8.
Conceptual design and measurements will be available and can be provided
Update Oct 31, 2017. Added conceptual design with measurement, and 'scope of work' to help come up with a proposal/quote. Note: conceptual design shows no access to back yard from upper suite, Hoping we can change this so the access to the back yard is available to both. I close on Dunkeld Nov 8 so ready to begin work pretty quickly (probably starting with permits etc.)
I have finished the basement and would like to convert it to basement suite (apartment). So I need a building permit from the city of St Catharines. I need someone to prepare all the required drawings to comply with OBC that lets me apply for building permit.
Please email or text. I need a raw estimate for that work.
Bought an older home (1974) with a finished basement. Past owners did not finish the small cold room under the front porch, or ventilate it, so it just creates mold issues and allows water to come into the house.
The cold room is about 3' x 5.5' and 6.5' high. I am wondering how much it would cost to properly finish the room for dry storage, and ditch the cold room concept.
I need a separate entrance leading to the basement or convert the deck sliding door into an entrance. If I do option 2, I would need to create another kitchen somewhere in the house. I am not sure how to place the kitchen. I had thoughts of adding a stair well to the basement and creating the kitchen in the basement. However I am lost at what is the best move. pls help
