I have a fairly small basement however, it needs everything from start to finish to finish the basement. I have not taken the actual measurements but I think it is probably around 18ft x 10ft as well as a hallway leading into this area. I'm not sure what's involved entirely but I know it needs soup to nuts i.e. framing, drywall etc.
We are excavating our basement and are looking for a general contractor to work with us to finish it. Permits have been applied for and we should be ready to dig beginning of February. I’ve attached the plans. The basement will be concrete floors with plumbing roughed in for the future bathroom but the rest is a blank canvas.
We are homeowners planning to finish our currently unfinished basement (in a semi-detached house) with a powder room, laundry area, storage space and living space. The furnace and water heater have already been relocated, the electrical panel has been upgraded and we have an interior weeping system. We have plumbing rough-ins from former bathroom and kitchen.
The exterior entrance will need some work (the stairs are currently enclosed, but not well - willing to keep it interior or eliminate the enclosure and install new exterior concrete stairs, whichever is more cost effective). The concrete floor is cracked and uneven and will need leveling.
Probably looking for engineered hardwood floor, no premium finishes in powder room (eg ceramic tile is fine, vs stone etc). Will want some built-in storage.
We are looking for a general contractor to oversee the whole project and provide subs. We are very flexible on the start date, but want realistic but firm timelines for completion once the project is begun.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you!
This is a detailed list of the work I am looking to complete in my house.
1. Side entrance landing to 1st floor requires stair/guard/handrail to be constructed as per Building Code.
2. Handrail full length of stair to be installed all the way to the basement.
3. Fill Roxul insulation around electrical panel gaps, etc
4. Atmospheric primer to be connected for primer to floor drain in furnace room.

6. Cut new egress window and install window well to code in back yard window. Ensure max 1.5m height from finished basement floor to top of egress window. (Also, determine cost or work required to add access to cawl space under back porch.
7. Pins need to be installed so door leading to basement auto closes as per Fire code.
8. Furnace room ceiling and walls have not been fire rated as per building code. Either provide fire rated ceiling or sprinkler the room (with appropriate permit to do so)
9. Determine where and how to line the required joists with fire rated drywall where HRV ducting and other ducting, kitchen and/or bathroom fans run through the fire separation (ceiling)
10. Ductwork for the HRV has not been properly observed/inspected. HRV and ductwork to be inspected with permit plans + joist runs for the ducts are to be lined with 5/8"x fire rated drywall.

We require a contractor to finish several areas of our house including a basement living area with a "spa-like" bathroom, a roughed-in kitchen and storage as per our plan which is attached.
The job includes carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting.
We are in downtown Toronto and our house is over 100 years old.

We also need to replace the fireplace surround and mantel in our main-floor living room.
Other minor repairs are required inside and outside of the house.
I'm planning to start a basement renovation project that should be completed by March 2014. I'm working with a budget of $30,000-$35,000, which cannot be exceeded.
I'm looking for a contractor who is licensed, insured and has references when I request them. I'd like a company that will be reliable, transparent in communication and most importantly, respect my budget concerns.

Dropped ceiling installation per sq ft installed. As far as electrical to be done nothing fancy, just basic electrical for bathroom and utilities room, 10 potlights, 5 switches, and 10 outlets.
Basement is 20' by 40' (800 sq ft.) We need exterior walls to be framed, interior framing for bathroom and around furnace is 20 lin ft. either metal or wood is ok , not sure if it is necessary to insulate, and vapour. Hello there,
i'm looking for somebody to help me quickly, best case today, with fixing my basement. last night it got completely flooded due to the heavy rain. to me it seems like the sewer / drain overfloated and the apartment was covered in appox 5cm water. it was clear water though, no sewage dirt, but rain water only.
I called the city that came by to pump most of it out approx at 1am, and now the water level is down to a minimum however i still cant flush the toilet.
i'd like to get in contact with you and figure out what to do quickly if you can.
my name is Mia, the house is approx at Eglinton West / Allen Road and you can reach me via email
thank you very much!

We are looking to install a small kitchen in our basement. Something very simple with base cabinets, a sink, and some upper cabinets. We would like a quote for 2 scenarios...1) If we provide the cabinets & sink, 2) If you provide the cabinets & sink.
We would need the plumbing and electrical work done as well. The kitchen is going to be installed in the room next to the laundry machine/ dryer and washing sink, so I am assuming the plumbing can be taken from there. Im thinking of breaking the wall that is currently separating the two rooms. The room currently has carpet laid and we would need to lay ceramic tiles instead. We are looking to do this on a limited budget.
Hi, I live in Toronto, ON...around St. Clair and Caledonia. I want a licensed contractor to knock down a basement wall (Height = 74 " X Width = 102 ") so the kitchen will have more space. After knocking the wall down, I will need a new wall about 5-6 feet from the original one with its plumbing done (a kitchen zinc will go on the new wall) and electric power outlets. Thanks,
Carlos.
This posting is for 2 - 3 days of work (labor only). All materials are already on site and I need help getting some things done before the drywall goes up. There is some framing that needs to be completed and then we need to put up the vapor barrier and insulation. Time is of the essence so please only contact me if you are availabe to start immediately.
Looking for estimates for a legal basement apartment.
The basement is 600sqft including space under the stairs. We already have a separate entrance from the back door. There are 4 windows.
We want a 1bedroom with the absolute minimum. No finishes, no floors, and no appliances. In the bathroom a toilet, sink, stand up shower (and fan since there is no window there?).
The floors on the main floor squeak, we may or may not fix that so please include the cost impact of both having to add extra noise insulation vs not having to.
May consider adding a separate hydro meter, please include how that would impact the cost.
If there are any expenses that you think might come up and cost extra please specify some examples of such things.
We have a 450-500 sq ft unfinished basement. We need the basement lowered/underpinned and a separate entrance made. Would like it finished (Ikea kitchen/bath) as a one bedroom legal basement apartment. Needs new windows. good soundproofing, new everything really. It's a 100 year old house.
My new house (just constructed) has a basement being finished by the builder with 2 bedrooms and 1 washroom. It also has a 1 pc rough-in work completed by the builder. It is completely finished by the builder.
Address: 102 Thorndale road, Brampton L6P 1K4
Total area: 807 sq ft
It has a separate entrance from the side as well. It has two egress windows in both bedrooms as well.
My goal is to get this basement a legal basement status after completing the kitchen work (installing kitchen cabinets, sink, fridge, and stove). I would like to get this done as soon as possible and looking forward to an appropriate quote from the contractors. The selected contractor should complete all kitchen work and anything else needed in order to get this basement a legal status.
Thanks
I am looking to convert a basement in the Bloor and Dundas area (Toronto) into a legal rental unit.
The basement is currently unfinished. It is approximately 400 square feet. Celing heigh is 6'8 at highest points and 6'4 under ducts. The basement is very dry. The basement is bright with four windows. There is an existing seperate entrance. There is an existing washroom that needs to be updated; we would like the washroom to be remodelled to fit a bathtub.
There is also an oil boiler that connects to forced air that we may want to convert into a small efficient gas furnace. The boiler is taking up valuable space under a window.
We are looking for a company that can confirm/warranty the legality of the unit. We also want a company that can present options at various price points, and we also want a company that can advise on the issue of moving/changing/replacing the boiler.
Price is a concern, but we are also interested in doing things properly. Please contact me if you are interested in this type of a project. Also, if possible, please provide me with an idea of costs.
We take posession of the property in the last week of April and would like to get this project moving during the spring/early summer.
I am looking for a reliable contractor to complete my basement apartment. I have already secured the permit and ready to start work asap. The basement is a partially finished basement. I am looking at bringing it to code and adding a bathroom additionally.
I am located near Eglington and Allen road. Budget is around 25K. Please PM.
