My garage floor has collapsed and I now have a hole in the floor about 4 square feet, but the whole floor is starting to cave in a bit. It seems that the concrete floor (made of concrete and enforcing rods) is about 6 - 8 inches above the ground. The garage is about 40 years old. Don't know if I just need a quick fix, or if the whole floor needs to be redone.
Hello,
Kregg Fordyce recommends you highly.
First,
I'm looking for a couple things to be done.
I am rebuilding my garage, I'm trying to do as much as I can myself to keep costs down.
The one thing I won't touch is the foundation.
The Garage will have a 15' x 22' foot print. (the lot is 16 feet wide)
The garage will have a green roof so I will need a footings I believe rather than a thickened slab on grade.
My current garage is just on a concrete slab (barely)
Once I get my final drawings and get the permits I'll demolish it.
I will need the footings and a pad poured and most likely the current concrete base removed.
Second,
The other project is actually my neighbour's home, they are looking to get their parking area redone. It is currently Asphalt.
We figure it might be better to get the work done at the same time.
They'd like to get 3 different quotes from which they can determine the scope of work to do right now. The quotes are as follows:
Quote #1:
1. Tear up and remove existing parking pad, leaving the shed and paved area under the shed intact.
2. Put in new parking pad to existing dimensions (9' 7" x 17' 6"). Poured concrete or asphalt, whichever is most affordable.
Quote #2:
1. Tear up and remove existing parking pad, shed and paved area under the shed. (My dad will be removing the composter.)
2. Put in new parking pad to existing dimensions (9' 7" x 17' 6"). Poured concrete or asphalt, whichever is most affordable.
Quote #3:
1. Tear up and remove existing parking pad, shed and paved area under the shed. (My dad will be removing the composter.)
2. Put in new parking pad to existing dimensions (9' 7" x 17' 6"). Poured concrete or asphalt, whichever is most affordable.
3. Pour a concrete pad running along side the fence from the back gate that is 12' x 3' feet that we will put a new shed on ourselves.
Thanks!
I am looking to get the garage renovated. That would include the roofing replaced (flat roof at this moment), extended with about 1.5 m the length of the garage and maybe replacing the roof with a concrete slab so I can have like a patio type of thing later on (adding the railing).
Hi,
The concrete slabs / walkways around my house have become uneven over the years with wide gaps, and started caving in towards the foundation at some places.
I want it to be properly graded and sloped for proper drainage so that water / snow does not damage the foundation.
I am looking for a cost effective durable solution that is also easy to maintain.
The areas should be approximately 550 sq ft.
Also my small concrete porch and steps needs some renovation.
Please let me know the cost and how long will it take.
Hi there,
We are removing the current concrete floors in our basement to do some interior waterproofing and relocation of drains.
We would like to install radiant (electric) heated floors when we pour the new concrete slab.
Can you please provide a price per sq ft to supply and install such?
Located near High Park, Toronto.
Thanks!
I have a 5 feet wide by 24 feet long hedge that I would like replaced with a much smaller hedge and I would like to lay cement pavers along the driveway edge where the hedge was. The photos show the large hedge to be removed, and a sample of the cement pavers (perhaps stamp concrete) that I would like installed. The pavers will be approximately 5 feet wide by 28 feet long.I also need a row of 16" pavers to be laid along the south end of the driveway. The top 15 feet of that row will need a small row of stones to act as a curb.

If feasible, plan is to make a flat basement floor from a 1950s era floor that has a sloping floor to the drain. The total drop at the drain is about 3". The sloped floor runs out to about 4 or 5' from the drain, giving an area of about 60 sq ft. and a volume of the cone of maybe 6 cubic feet.
Floor is original concrete and mostly sound. Walls are block.
I need the concrete floor of my condo unit to be leveled. The area is approximately 560 square feet in total comprising of 2 rooms, living/dining area and small portion of the hall. The unevenness ranges with the lowest point approximately 1 inch from the highest point. The condo is located in the downtown Toronto and I am interested in getting this project completed over the next 2 weeks.
80% of my basement has been dugout and underpinned. I'm planning to dig out an additional 10% myself - an approximate 100 sq feet.
I would like to hire a contractor to pour the concrete and level the floor in the newly dugout section as well as a few additional areas within the basement that need to be better leveled.

Need a poured concrete pad installed in my backyard prior to installation of a 8ft by 12ft garden shed. I want the shed to sit in the middle of the proposed 16ft by 20ft concrete slab which will be in the corner of the yard. This will leave room to walk between the fence and the shed for maintenance etc.
The slab must be built strong enough to support the wooden shed which will be built in place and lag-bolted to the slab permanently. I also want the concrete to be "charcoal" coloured to blend in with the rest of the landscaping in the backyard.
Hi, and thanks for looking;
I have a backyard that's about 18 feet wide x 30 feet deep connected to a one lane laneway at the rear. It has been mostly cleared as you can see in the image attached.I have new fencing going up in the next 4 weeks but would like to find a contractor that can do the following:
1. Build driveway/parking pad. Includes grading. About 17 x 22 - 24 ft. Prefer concrete but open to asphalt or gravel with proper depth base able to handle heavy vehicle.
2. Concrete or stone base above grade for shed approx 6x12ft.
3. Storage shed for the above base. Willing to buy pre built and have you install or have you build from scratch. Whichever is most economical and can be customized for the space.
4. A stone walking surface for the rest of the yard which would be approx 250 to 300 sq feet.
As mentioned, I do have fencing that is to be installed in the next 4 weeks so am unsure if this work can be done before or best to do after fence but am willing to start project earlier than the fence if possible. I am located in West Toronto.
Im a GC looking for trades for a new home build in Etobicoke.
Demo to start in a month.

NEW VARANDAH PROJECT
Scope of Work:
For the supply of all labour, materials, and equipment necessary for the construction of a new concrete, and block cement verandah.
The verandah floor or slab is to be supported on new foundation or footing. Space immediately below newly created verandah floor will be enclosed with a north facing window and used for cold storage. Cold storage room will have a finished cement floor with drain. Access to this space will be through an interior door that must be constructed within existent basement. Prior to new construction demolition and removal of old wood porch will be required for excavation work to begin.
A new water service line will also be required after excavation work.
The existent verandah roof can remain in use with support jacks and minor alterations. Brick columns can be created on verandah slab for roof support after poured slab.
The new verandah dimensions will be approximately 14 X 6 feet rectangular or 84 square feet at front of the semi-detach home.
New verandah steps to front door will also be required. Presently 4 feet rise by 6 feet run has seven steps attached.
Hand rails will be required on steps for support.
Brick work would be preferred around porch floor instead of hand rails to act as a wall up to the steps. 42 inches in wall height would be preferred.
REQUEST FOR VERANDAH PROJECT QUOTATION (RFVPQ)
Please provide a detailed cost for completion of verandah project RFVPQ outlining your time line as well. Please indicate any by- law permit requirements for this type of construction to be completed.
Owners would continue to live at home and would appreciate a scheduled plan if possible.
Please provide your contact information. You will be asked for previous project references of similar work completed, if considered for this project.
You will be contacted to commence work upon approval of your verandah project submission by end of May or early June upon receipt of necessary permit by City of Toronto. To speed up this process please indicate if your company can obtain City of Toronto permit on owners' behalf and include this with your costs along with your preferred start and end date of project.
Thank you for providing your quotation for this renovation project to the old wooden porch.

Hi,
We have about 300-400 sq ft in our basement. The laminate flooring was removed so now it's all concrete. We don't really care about polishing -- we are just wondering how much it would cost to clean, seal and paint it? The floor is in pretty good shape.
We will likely be using rugs later on, so we're just looking to have fresh paint so it's easier to clean in the future.
We are located in the Eastern / Carlaw area.
Please let us know - thanks!
