We are building a 2800 squarefoot home in a lot that is 35 width by 133 deep. The project is due to comence on the 1st of Dec. 2009 and we want the project to be completed in at least 8 months. We are looking for contractors that can build for us.

For the time being, we're hoping to find Contractors and Project Managers with experience in Sustainable Home construction practices and materials.
Since the GC/PM will likely hire their own trades, at this time we have no plans to hire the trades directly. We will repost this job asking for trades to apply, if that changes. (Thanks for all the responses we've gotten so far! We'll keep this information on file.)
Due to budget constraints, we expect this project to only be completed 'to the drywall' (sanded & primed). We're reasonably handy folks and hope to finish the detail work ourselves over time (kitchen, bathrooms, painting, trim, interior doors & frames, etc.).
A significant amount of planning has gone into the design of the house to reduce materials, waste, and effort.
While we do have a current list of materials that we have planned to use, we are also keen to hear other suggestions for alternate materials that might do the same job in a better / more-affordable way. e.g., vinyl siding isn't an option, but vinyl windows (since there is little vinyl) might be a better choice than fiberglass because of cost.
We have obtained our variances from the City of Toronto, and our plans are complete except for some small changes. We have been through a PAL Review with the city but have not yet submitted our plans for the construction permits. The project has written support of all 4 direct-neighbours.
Tree removal permit for an ailing tree on neighbor's property (that would have to otherwise be protected) has been obtained. Other trees are far enough away to not be of concern, or are not in need of protection.
Given the above conditions for simplifying the project, we're hoping to be able to complete it for under $250,000.

Hi, I will be building a new house this summer which is approx. 1600sft internal finished floor above grade. I am looking for a trustworthy, reliable and experienced contractor who can supply labour for demolition (800sft brick bungalow & detached garage), foundation/footing, concrete/external works, framing, drywall, painting, finished Carpenter. Excavation, HVAC & Electric will be separate.
I will purchase all the materials as needed while contractor will manage/supervise his labour part of contract only. Quote could be a fixed amount for entire labour work or item wise.There could be 2nd house after 1st house completion so the rate has to be your absolutely best without any hidden charges. Will prefer the contractor who has permanent labour/crews.

Single family home, two to three bedrooms on main floor, two bathrooms (one ensuit to master) and two bedrooms one full bath, or one full and one three quarter bath ensuite to one of the bedrooms. Possibly a deck off of the kitchen, electric appliances, and concrete walls and floor wouldn't be minded because of the efficiency.
This is a low-income home, and the primary caregiver has several long term illnesses, so good and reliable venting and air flow is needed.

I'm looking to build an eco friendly home. The home is a very simple structure, all wood construct, with a very small foundation. The design is based on the following. Home footprint 20'x40'x9-18'

The wood frames which consist of engineered wood are combined tightly and they are arranged at intervals of 45cm to 1m. The wood frames which is covered by the plywood make "semi-monocoque structure" similar to aircraft or ship. By changing the type of sill, the building can adopt to the various ground situation. The width of the space will be about 6m without columns. The structure is stable yet simple, and thus you can construct the building in short period with reasonable cost. Because it is a solid structure, you can also carry it by a truck. A 2-storied house or a 3-storied house can be built using a unique box structure as well.
