We're renovating our basement and are looking for assistance with a handful of items:
1. Interior door. Our basement is comprised of two separate sections each of which has its own staircase. The two sections are "connected" visa-a-vis a small carved out section of a retaining wall (18" to 30" wide x 60" tall). Note that there's no lintel above this "carved out section" We'd like to make this into a formal doorway and need a lintel and posts (if required by the building code).
2. Basement window. We're looking at adding an above grade basement window approximately 5' to 6' wide x. 3' x 4' tall. We have a brick foundation; our driveway extends well past this section so there's easy access to the location.
3. Basement waterproofing (possibly). Looking at approximately 40' around our backyard deck. Easy access as the driveway is right next to the patio. Only difficulty could be a large walnut tree on the other side that has a well developed root system.
Replace the windows, siding and eavestroughs in the dormer. Dormer is part the uninsulated attic space. Replace the leaning porch column with a pressure treated 6x6 the full height (remove existing brick and timber column) and a new concrete sono tub foundation my be required. I also want to replace the eavestrough at the porch and some of the soffit and cover around the beam at the porch roof.
Replace 9 existing windows with new (brick to brick installation) & 1 exterior door/casement with new as follows:
5 Casement windows (thermo) :
2 = 57" x 50"
2 = 62" x 33"
1 = 26" x 28"
4 Sliders (thermo):
3 = 33" x 19"
1 = 27" x 17"
1 Exterior steel insulted door with glass design = 30" x 80"
Please email rough estimate to me. Top companies of my choice will then be contacted for an appoinment to provide detailed quote

I need our front door and frame replaced.
We have a front door opening that is 52 inches wide by 90 inches high.
There is a glass door now but needs to be replaced. The frame is not stable.
The current door locks at the bottom.
I want to replace it with fob or code access.
The project:
1. take the current door and frame out
2. new frame
3. electrical
4. new glass door.
I have 2 picture windows (installed by previous owner in 1999) that are leaking a small amount of water onto the window sill that lifts the paint. This moisture also lifts the paint below the windoe sill. The leakage occurs in the same site (where the 2 side windows meet the larger center window) on both windows. These 2 windows are at the front of my house and face east. The damage is worse on the mainfloor than on the 2nd floor sill. My roof and flashing is approx 9-10 years old. I have my windows and eavetroughs cleaned annual in April. The person who does this has not reported any damage to my eaves or roof. I never see any water pooling or dripping ...it just causes the window sill ( approx 2" x 2") wood to feel damp and then the paint lifts. There is no water damage to the window casing around the window ,not is there lifting paint above the window, so I do not feel the water is dripping down from the roof to the second floor and then down to the main floor. I would like to meet with perspective contractors to view the problem and give me an estimate. Thank you.
New to cut out opening and install a new bedroom window. Looks like a window existed at one time and has since been bricked in. Window size is approximately 36" tall, 30" wide.

Hi,
I need to replace a lot of Windows (7 or 8 are a lot IMO) in a 40 year old house; all but 2 are originals.
I would like to be able to COMPARE several (at least 2 IDEALLY 4+) DIFFERENT brands.
These should be energy star rated.
I prefer wood but that gets costly, I don't know about fiberglass but most of my current (40 year old) windows are vinyl.
I also NEED an extended warranty (with labor). I am on a tight budget but realize that "you get what you pay for" and that going cheap CAN end up costing a fortune in damage; air exchange, and ultimately needing to replace again... etc.
I will ask for references, etc.
I would need them by April - May 2012
Many thanks
P.S. I have "rough" size measurements

We are applying for a grant under the Commercial Facade Improvement Program for BIAs sponsored by the City of Toronto.
Our project includes removal of existing mouldings, re painting of the facade, and the replacement of second floor windows, first floor windows and doors.
We need a quote ASAP, as the deadline is fast approaching.
I live in a 1895 row house in downtown Toronto. The old (possibly original) solid wood door hangs a bit to one side. I would like to have it rehung so it is square. Please note that, although this may be a bit of a finicky task given that the hinges have been painted and repainted over many times and that the solid core door is heavy, the frame and door are in good shape and I am therefore not interested in quotes for a full rebuilding of the frame. The scope of this project is limited to a rehanging of a front door.
The swing direction of the door needed to be changed. A contractor removed the door & frame but did not come back to finish the job. I still have the door and the 3 original pieces of the door frame that are visible, but none of the "inner guts" of the door frame. The house (or at least the part of the house that houses the bathroom) is 96 years old.
1. Casement window crank operator is broken. This problem keeps coming back. It might be better to install a dual arm system.
2. The two sliding glass doors for the second bedroom are stuck. These doors are at a right angle and serve as the entrance for the second bedroom.
3. The T-mold between living room and the two bedrooms need replacement. Living room has laminated floor while the bedrooms have carpet.
4. The back wood wall under kitchen sink seems brittle at places due to earlier water leak.
Need to replace non standard size door, want to get a entry door from Home Depot, trim top and bottom to size then replace existing door. I prefer I pay for door and material and be charged by hour for labour. This way no need for wasting time for quotes.

Need to replace door on sunroom with sliding door as the porch is the access to backyard. The flooring is uninsulated and slants toward door. T
He room is made of 15 glass panels joined together. Professionally done years ago.Therefore the opening is approx 18inches wide. Not looking to replace sunroom just make it functional.
I have a 4'x5' (or so) window in the front of my house, in the wall between the house an a covered porch. The window is made from a dark tinted glass. It is fixed in that no part of it opens, its a solid sheet. The window really limits the amount of light I can get into the house and I want to replace it with a clear piece. There is aluminum siding around the sills that would need to be removed thats just nailed in. The window might be sealed in with caulking. I would like to replace it with either a clear sheet of glass or a window that can open to allow airflow. If we do a window that can open, I would like something very elegant without thick window pane frames etc like you see on regular storm windows. Maybe two plates of glass, that can swing open. Since its interior it doesnt need to be a storm window.
Would like an energy efficient window installed to replace existing. Window size is 58 3/4" wide and 38 1/2" tall brick to brick. Please include cost of windows and all materials in your quote. Window is to be flush with the outside of the wall. Please include cost of materials and to install trim.
For the rear of the house in a 36" x 84" "brick-to-brick" opening, requiring an entry door from Novatech - SoHo style in white/white - no glass - double bore (hardware supplied) - composite frame - white w/ mill finish sill.
Everlast aluminum storm door - white - full view - modern - hardware is TBD
Current door slab is 31-5/8" x 79-3/8" x 1-3/4"
Hello,
We are moving out of our existing condo at the end of the month, and need the door to our laundry room replaced.This is because we have installed a 'pet' door, and the buyer of our condo has requested a new door (they have no need for the 'pet' door').
Door specs:
Measurements: 28" x 79 3/8 "
Material: Wooden, hollow-core
Lock: No (has handle that allows door to shut)
Style: Seeclick here of hinges: 2
Color: White
Requirements:
1. Pick up door to be replaced (for sizing, hinges, handle, etc)
2. Purchase and size the door as needed
3. Deliver door and confirm that it fits
It is critical that the door be replaced with the same color and style, as that is what is in the sale contract.
This project must be completed soon, at some point next week.
Let me know ASAP if you can do this, and if so, how much it will cost.
Thanks,
Paul.
