We are planning to build a bedroom, Kitchenet with a sink and small shelf for microwave and space for Fridge, one small bathroom and rest entertainment area. We have lived in Whitby for 20 years. We want someone from the Whitby/Durham Region we can trust, who has great references. If some work is contracted out, we want to know that and we want to know who is doing it. We expect a fair price and not to be nickel & dimed after a quote. We understand things change, but there needs to be a reason.
As mentioned, in addition to the main job of basement renovation, we are considering main floor kitchen that we had quoted a while ago if it makes sense to do that before closing in the basement.
I live in Whitby Shores in a 2 year home and I would like to finish the main part of my basement as a multi-use room (29' x 10'6"). I would like approx. 12 pot lights on 3 switches, wiring for home theatre system, 3 doors into unfinished areas and the possibility of some built in storage (bookshelves, wall units). The laminate flooring and subflooring for the area has already been purchased but the quote should include pricing for installation.
Approx. 1200 sq ft.
6 Year old house.

Small counter with wine fridge
Storage and Home entertainment equipment to be hidden
Extend existing Central Vac rough in for basement
Rigid board for wall and floor insulation
Additional floor waterproofing system
laminate or engineered wood floors
Basement must be well insulated and dry (floors and walls)
Floors must be level
Contractors must complete work project within 4 weeks with certified workers
I would like to get a quote for the basement. It's roughly 1600 sqft. There is already a bedroom mostly completed.
I would like to get the laundry area enclosed a kitchen layout and the rest open concept for entertainment with laminate flooring, whether it's extra space for home use or for when visitors come over.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated. My request is serious, if the price is right.

I have a six yr old home with finished basement. There is a furnace room, a living space as you come down the stairs and a room off to the left. I want to make it a bachelor apartment. Making the existing room into a kitchen (repaint it) and buiilding a 3 piece bathroom with tilted flooring. Want to make the 2 standard basement windows larger for fire safety purposes. Total sq feet is 598.
Just want standard quality materials and appliances.
Brooklin Ontario, 1000 sq ft area to be finished. Looking to create an open concept space with a small office and 3 pc bathroom. Additonal elements are bar and fireplace (both faced with fabricated stone).
Challenges: Ductwork runs under steel I beam creating a challenge for the open concept i.e. has to be boxed in to pass code (or rerouted). Also one vent line needs to be re routed as it currently blocks a window.
Permits are a must, please do not repspond if not willing to conduct a legit rennovation.
Happy to entertain on site inspections but would like a general estimate/feedback to help create a short list (i don't want to waste anyones time).
Thanks in advance for your time.

I am looking to renovate basement of my house. The construction area of the whole house is 2150 ft. I am looking to make 1 bedroom 1 washroom and open style kitchen with living area. I am also looking to work with the contractor to save cost although I don't have experience in construction. Provided all the material how much basement revocation cost on average. The house is 6 years old and the digging for the plumbing is already done.
Our basement was unfinished when we bought this house 4 years ago.We decided to build aroom and a bathroom. Now its partially renovated because a non trustworthy contractor has left it unfinished.the dry walls of the new bathroom and 2 new bedrooms are done.but tiling and carpeting and coloring is not done. He also says he is mortgage broker and real state agent. He mostly works in Toronto.
We are looking to make use of our basement space. Currently there is a 1 finished bedroom down there from previous owners (nanny) The remaining space is untouched. At the moment we are not certain we want a full remodel, however are definately looking to have the space framed out, drywalled, taped and primed. We need this space to function as a play area. Closing off the furnace area, and laundry room as well. So I guess we would be looking at a basic reno for now that allows us functionality. I just do not have the time to frame and insulate myself. Our house is 7-10yrs old
I apologize but do not have the exact measurments with me, I am ball parking that the unused space is about 30x26.
