I'd like to do some renovations in my condo as follows:
1. change the carpet by hardwood flooring in two bedrooms (the installation should include an isolation membrane by the building rules)
- first one is around 12' x 17' plus a walk in which is ~ 7' x 7'
- the second one is 12' x 12.5' plus a hall 10' x 3' and a storage room 10' x 3'
2. redo two bathrooms
- change sink, toilet, shower, ceramic floor and wall tiles
- the bathrooms dimensions are 9' x 7' and 8' x 6'
3. redo kitchen
- replace cabinets, sink and counter
- replace ceramic floor
Additional task may be needed (painting, changing doors, etc). TBD
Small condo on top-floor of triplex in Montreal needs timely and affordable updating in order to make it rentable. Some work was completed by a contractor who took the money but didn't actually do the work that he was supposed to do. The budget is now very tight to finish the work. We will be in Montreal and available to meet potential contractors on Tuesday morning, May 25th or Wednesday afternoon, May 26th.
We would like a cost conscious renovation with a few quality requirements: ceramic tile floors in the kitchen instead of linoleum, kitchen cabinets utilizing the space all the way up to the ceiling and an exposed ceiling in the living room (to see the wood between the beams).
Floorplan can be provided upon request. We now have a firm total of $15,000 to complete this work. We have organized our priority list based on our understanding of what work remains to be done but are willing to work with a contractor to adjust it based on meeting code. The dollar amount cannot change so whatever can be done within that budget to get the condo rentable and presentable in the most reasonable time frame if where we will end up!
Thanks so much for taking a look at our project.

I have a 3B duplex and I want to convert it to a single hose. The basment is done. There are a three bedroom unit in lower level and another three bedrooms in upper level. I want to make it into a four bedrooms single house. The lower level should be converted into a big living area with an open kithchen and a poweder room. Upstaires needs to have a big master bedroom with a bathroom. Also it should accomodate a big modern bathroom.
Upstairs has a big trace of 20 m2.
The land is about 300 m2 and the buiding dimension is about 10 m2 x 12 m2. It has also a garage.
I want know how much it would cost me.
Hey, I have a storage area with a seperate entrance attached to my house. I was hoping to convert this into a bedroom. What needs to be done:
An exterior door added, an interior door added (off of the laundry room). The interior door would require us cutting through the existing wall. Dry wall and flooring. Maybe electrical work but would have to investigate.
The room is approximently 95 square feet.
I can even help with the renos, if possible. I'm trying to get this done quick and possibly for a good price. I can handle painting, etc.
in our 6-plex building from 1920 s, we will be taking the bottow one and the one above to convert into a open concept home. We will need to draw plans and get permit and see what support needs to stay which floor we can open. We will use a mixture of materials wood ceramic . Would be better to come look and evaluate
Project consists of installation of a large window measuring 104" wide by 60" high, and a large patio door measuring 8' by 8'. They would be replacing two windows and a door. opening will therefore need to be made in the current wall, which consists of a double layer of bricks. A quote has already been obtained from a mason and plans obtained from a civil engineer; however upon review of the plans the mason informed me that a general contractor will be needed to carry out welding for the reinforcement needed for the wall openings, as well as general oversight of the work. Engineering drawings can be provided if interested. Quote is for the creation of the opening only, as installation will be taken care by window and door provider.

Hi,
So I'm about a purchase a duplex in Villeray (2 x 4 1/2) which is very dated. I would like to renovate the bottom floor as that will be our main living area and just slightly renovate the top floor as I only plan to rent it out a few years. My plan is to eventually turn the duplex into one single home.
I'm looking for a full service renovator as I will need the floors done, walls removed, full kitchen and bath remodeling, windows, wood fence around the back yard and even pressure washing the brick .... and so on. I hear a lot of contractor horror stories so someone with references would be great.
Thank you,
Jose P.
A duplex located on the plateau. Downstairs is a commercial space that needs completion. Upstairs, our home, has 2 bedrooms, small WC and LR and DR. Decent terrasse that needs rejuvenation. Great skylights. Problem: the space is inadequately designed. Floor in bedroom is on a slant and there is very little storage.
Familly of 4 needs practical space. Modern and clean with proper insulation and spacial division.
How much will this cost? What can be done to improve the space? We are shopping for the best scenario.
Hello there,
For the time being I live in Toronto.
I'm planning to move to Montreal for business matters.
I do have some experience in construction as well but it is from the very past.
I'm planning to buy an older home and either to renovate it or to reconstruct it again.
I'd be happy to receive an estimate about the above mentioned matter if possible, regarding the length of the job as well.
Regards
Mohammad
I have actualy a basement of 6 feet with very little opening (no windows)
I think to rise the house to make a new basement. I think the foundation to be redone and restore the actual building above it. An estimation needed for price and time needed to do this .
On the upper floor, I want to remove a wall sepatating the actual bathroom to another space and make a new bathroom
The interior entrance staircase leading to the 3rd floor apartment (from 1st to 2nd floor the stairs are exterior) of a triplex in the mile-End district of the Plateau in Montreal needs to be renovated. The plaster walls need some repairs and painting, the wooden steps and trim need to be sanded and repainted, the landings need to be tiled, and some storage cabinets need to be installed. It's a tall, narrow space that is unheated. The work is pretty simple, but the conditions are a little precarious seeing it's work in a staircase.
