Project involves adding an approximate 13x23 ground floor living room addition to the side of the home, and converting existing living room into a master bedroom.
Architectural plans already completed.
The project would include filling in an existing window and creating an interior wall to convert an open concept living room into a master bedroom. Bedroom creation would require creating two new windows to rear of the home.
Living room addition would require adding a 13x23 addition ideally on piers but slab also an option.
living room:
laminate flooring
6 foot sliding patio doors
2 6 feet windows
and filling in of existing window
Vinyl exterior siding
We want to build an addition out from our front door. A mud room. Approximately 6 feet by 6 feet. This would involve extending an existing overhang that starts at the front corner of the house, that juts out about 6 feet, back to the front door of the addition. We would have 1 concrete step up to the addition. Outer materials for the mud room: Brick (to be re-used from one side of the current front door) for outer corner column to left of new front door, Maibec treated wood siding for back and outer side wall, windows (tall narrow window right side of new front door, long horizontal high-up window outer side wall of mud room), Crewview-style front door. We would add one Home Depot baseboard heater under the horizontal window, wiring extending from a heater near current entrance. Extend the wiring from our current front door outdoor lights. Extend the wiring from our current doorbell. Materials inside the mud room: drywall, hexagon floor tiling (simple design from Home Depot), built-in closet space for ready-made IKEA closet on back wall. Keep current front door as is.
Age of house: 1952
Made of brick
Detached bungalow
We need to draw up a design tand list of costs to get approval for a permit
We would like to start work fairly soon
Hi there,
We are looking to expand our workshop by adding a "control room" to it. We would do this by adding two ~4-5 meter long walls to the corner of our concrete-floored workshop. I am picturing a standard 2X4 construction, with 1 door, and electricity. The one particularity is that for protection reasons, we would like to have steel plating on one wall for operator safety.
Thank you!
We have just bought a 1973 "Canadienne" style bungalow in Saint-Lambert (QC) that has never been renovated. We are seriously considering adding an addition before redoing the kitchen / dining area.
The house measures 47x26 (including a 13' wide garage) so it is relatively shallow. The addition could be more or less 16x8, enough to accommodate a larger kitchen and breakfast nook and or reconfigure the dining room.
Would like to have an idea of costs to ajust expectations. Because the house also needs other mechanical work (heating, electric) on top of cosmetic improvements. Total budget TBD
