Hi,
I am looking to redo the floors of the upper level of a duplex in ville St-Laurent, Montreal.
I would need someone that would be able to take out the current floors and install new hardwood floors while soundproofing in between the main and upper floors. (Around 700 square feet)
Please contact if you have any experience soundproofing old duplexes in Montreal.
Thanks
To fix the problem without thermal isolation of the exterior wall of the building when the building was renovated 4 years ago. The length of the exterior wall is about 400 feet with height 12 to 15 feet.
Contractor has to remove old gyproc wall first, install 2'' or 3'' isolation layer, install new wall and paint to finish. There are about 12 rooms and the contractor can only renovate 2 rooms in 1 day because other rooms have to open for business at same time.
In search of certified urethane injection contractor that is reputable and with a proven track record to perform the insulation project. Must have liability insurance and proven quality workmanship track record. I would like to avoid removing the existing sheetrock. I am looking for contractors that will provide a free estimate. The work will need to be high quality as well as materials that conform to all government and industry standards. No asbestos content of any type.
on a hundred year old two storey attached triplex, the more recent addition in the back lacks insulation. Condensation and mold problems in the winter have been a problem. I think the walls of this addition need to be insulated. I think the best solution is to drill holes through the bricks from the outside and blow in insulation with hoses.

Hello,
I am looking to have removed and disposed of the Urea-formaldehyde insulation or Mousse isolante d'ure-formaldhyde in French from our bedroom and living room walls.
The two rooms are very small and identical in size, both are 11.7 ft X 8.10 ft/3.53 m X 2.69 m and both rooms are 8 feet tall, which would total approximately 570 sqft of walls when removing the size of two doors, two windows and a closet that need to be demolished and cleaned out from insulation.
We are hoping to have the job done as early as possible in May before we move in.
If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate and reach out to me.
Thank you

House build in early 60s. Insufficient insulation between ground and upper duplex floors. Smokers in ground floor, upper apt. smells of smoke, cooking, conversation. Problem seems to be from back kitchen wall. Carpeted wall to wall, no quarter rounds.
Notice that interior wall, possibly supporting, has been damaged. In Hampstead so high rent. Therefore landlord will pay if work has to be done, but needs estimate for job first. Landlord will be present for estimate and work will be paid directly by him
Remove existing Ogee, baseboards, and drywall to reinsulate 2-3 bedrooms with foam. All bedrooms have closets. Rebuild the walls. Put back new Ogees and baseboards and closets. The ceiling of the garage has to be open partially on the sides to spray the side walls. The bedroom above the garage gets a lot of draft from the garage.

I live in the upper duplex. This is primarily a soundproofing project. This is the goal. We have 2 kids and need to isolate and remove as much noise as possible between the two floors. This will involve removing our hardwood floor (1350 square ft) and plywood, exposing the joists, fixing adjusting joists if needed. Installing insulation (steel wool/ cellulose maybe)... reapplying new plywood, with some other noise deading layer of greenglue and sonopan for example... installing a new hardwood floor, and all the other bits and bobs and trimmings and such.... you are the expert... this is just my layman knowledge. Please come and quote and see for yourself.. we need to get this done in spring/summer 2015.
Thank you
Hello! We have had a similar job done on two interior walls of our living room in spring 2016, in the context of a larger project, and now we are looking to insulate another room in our house which was built in 1930 without insulation.
I am looking for a qualified person to tear down existing wallboard and remove frames around the two windows, put up 2X3 boards to hold the insulation, install Ultratouch or similar denim installation, new wallboard and replace the frames. We are seeking two or three bids so we can get this done at a reasonable cost by competent pros. To be completed May or June 2018.
1974 contruction, Dollard des Ormeaux, Brick and siding exterior. Detached cottage.
Upper level (where all of the bedrooms are) is very cold, despite thermostat set at 23.5 degrees.
Need evaluation and correction of the problem.
Please contact me only if this is your specialty. No general contractors who will subcontract this work out.
We live in a semi-detached house built in the 1950s. We would like to sound proof the common walls on the main floor and the 2nd story. There are 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and a living room / dining room combination on the main floor. The combined length of the walls on each floor is 25 feet (50 feet total). There are no electrical outlets, windows or door openings along the walls.
We would like to install new walls in front of the existing plaster walls instead of removing them. We have done some research and are interested in using "Safe and Sound" insulation within the framing and finishing with "QuietRock" drywall.
If possible we would like to divide up the work so that only one floor is being renovated at a time.
