Recently purchased a house that already had a finished suite but it is not to the standard we would like. Suite is approximately 900 sq ft, 1 bedroom, plumbing complete. There are several small things that weren't done well and some larger projects we'd like to tackle as well. Flooring is lifting, drywall taping and painting were poorly done, kitchen needs more cabinets/counters, would like to tile bathroom, main house electrical panel is in suite - would like it moved to be accessible to the rest of the house, poor sound insulation between main floor and basement. We'd also like to finish the shared area of the basement - laundry & common hallway.
Not related to basement renovations but also looking to re-grading front yard and side driveway and to repair foundation around front steps/cold storage room as a small amount of water came in this spring.
For the right person there could be various other "handy" jobs around the property in the coming months.
My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a house. The home inspector has indicated that one of the basement walls needs to be braced. There is approximately 1.5 inches of bowing in the wall. The house is a 4-level split and the wall that needs to be braced has a crawl space in the basement and two bedrooms with a bathroom in between on the third level. The home inspector indicated that the braces would have to extend up into the walls of the third level.
I don't have a measurement on the wall itself but the dimensions of the rooms are Bedroom (11 feet), bathroom (6.5 feet), bedroom (11 feet). Making the wall approximately 30 feet long.
We are looking to get an estimate on the cost of bracing this wall.
Have had a mold problem (now removed) but the basement bedroom and bathroom require renovation work. The bathroom now has nothing in it all - would like the walls rebuilt in the bedroom and bathroom, shower or tub installed along with sink and toilet in the bathroom, and flooring in both. The floor has a crack which I would like repaired.
Would like this estimate and work done soon...
Thanks
Our house was built in 1983. The basement already has a finished rec room and bathroom but half of it is unfinished and was used for a handyman room which is about 17 feet by 12 feet and we would like to make it into a bedroom. The project will include framing, insulation, dry wall and putting in a new window, doors and a closet. We will also need electrical for plug ins and a light switch. For someone with experience it would be a easy project.
A large-size basement needs total renovation and redesign.
It has a full crawl space which needs to be cleaned, ventilated and effectively drained. All existing walls, ceilings floors, windows, doors, sewer pipes, bathroom have to be removed and rebuilt and any structure/foundation defects (if any) have to be corrected/fixed. The basement size is approximately 1500 S.F.
Stripping and replacing of all existing walls, ceiling and floor.
Redesign the space to accommodate an entertainment room, a bedroom, a 3-piece bathroom and a storage area.
Cleaning crawl space with encapsulation and installation of moisture control system and at least 2 easily accessible sump pumps. Replace and reposition of the main sewer pipes.
Calling all basement renovation contractors and designers!
While we love retro, dusty rose carpet is too funky for us! We moved into our new home two years ago and, despite having lots of ideas, haven't been able to get started on renovating our basement. We are looking to:
1. Start with a clean canvas: remove the carpet, raised wood flooring, wood paneling and existing bathroom;
2. Design: design a new bathroom spa (Japanese tub and shower room, changing area, toilet with twin sinks), separate tv / entertainment and relax / exercise areas, gas fireplace and consider heated flooring; and
3. Build to design specs (phased)
Note: the basement is currently sparsely furnished and underutilized as we continue to consider what to do.
Any and all questions welcomed. Please text for further details (e.g. dimensions, etc.)aqSq
Basement is already spray insulated and dry walled. Total basement area is approx 700 sq ft. Need to build a bedroom 8'4"x10'2", closet 48"x80", full bath w/standing shower 5'8"x6'6", shelves 36"x80", mechanical room 32"x80", open rec room 14'4"x13'3". With carpet on floor and paint.
Also quote on detached single car garage. Heated and non heated.
Hi! My house is about 3 years old and i'm looking at having the basement finished. It is about 1200sq.ft and never been renovated before. What I would like to have is a finished bathroom ,living room, bedroom and small storage room. A drop ceiling with pot lights and carpet preferably. Could u please give me a rough online estimate of what this might cost me. I'm assuming the estimate is material and labour? Thank You!!!
Our basement is approx. 600 sq. ft. We bought this house new from the builder 6 years ago. It is insulated and has electricals done.
We would like to know an estimate to finish the basement with a bathroom. The plumbing for the bathroom has been roughed in. We would go with carpet.
Budget under $30,000.
We are looking at having our basement completely re-done with a sub-floor and all. We have had moisture problems in the past and are looking for help to make it stop. The basement consists of 2 seperate rooms and large center room, a large laundry room with a small storages space that could possibly be turned into a bathroom. There is a total living space of about 1150sq feet.
Hello,
I would like to get a quote on what it would cost to renovate my 495 ft2 basement. I have attached a floor plan diagram for reference.
It’s a brand new house so the basement is currently unfinished. The walls are already insulated and framed. The plumbing for the bathroom is already roughed in.
Here are a few points on what I would like done:
- Stairs, entrance, and storage room would be laminate or tile flooring
- Storage room with wire shelves and an exhaust fan (to store hockey equipment)
- Living area would be carpet flooring and suspended ceiling w/ recessed pot lights
- Depending on cost, I may leave the bathroom renovation until a later date
Looking to have our basement fully developed with a 1 bedroom suite (regulation/non-regulation), would like quotes to get this done.
Basement is about 485 sq ft, and the outside walls have already been insulated and have vapor barrier. The space is however wide open.
Flooring will be needed from main level, through the stairwell to the basement. Stairwell has been drywalled but will need to be finished and painted.
Basement itself will need the bathroom fully done, rough in plumbing is currently available, a small kitchen/kitchennette with cabinets, space for a small laundry, and will need to have the walls drywalled, ceiling either drywalled or drop down with tiles. Electrical outlets will also be needed for the space.
A overall quote based on per square footage billing, and/or options we have to get this done will be appreciated in order for us to decide. We are looking for something that is not overpriced, and we need to get this done this summer.
I have a small basement suite that needs to be rebuilt after flood and sewer damage. A PDF of insurance adjuster report is attached. The restoration company has now finished their work so the job could be started immediately.. It would consist of
- replacing 2' of drywall on some walls,
- leveling the floor with either self-leveling cement and installing radiant heat, or building a raised subfloor;
- installing flooring on stairs, landing, living room, bathroom and small kitchenette;
- replacing kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and
- hooking up the plumbing. I can do the painting.
Note: The bedroom was not damaged. No work needs to be done there.
I am considering taking a settlement from the insurance company so there would be no need to wait for payment after the job is complete, and I can provide a small down payment. I would like the work completed before Sept. 1 if possible so I can have the suite ready for rentals. My budget is approximately $10,000. Thank you for considering this project.
I have a small area of my basment to get done. It is approximately 250 - 300 square foot area. It already has most of the framing up, all the wall dry wall up, and insulation in. Electrical is in, but I would like pot lights and more plug ins. There is a really small part in the corner that has to be framed and dry walled thats it. I would like the ceiling done with dry wall because it is a sunken living room floor upstairs, so the area in the basement is only 6 feet 3 inches high, so that extra inch is needed. It would be a really quick job, in and out in no time because most stuff is started. And put some carpet in. The house was built in the 80's. I would like an estimate before work gets going to see if it is worth the time I am saving by not doing it myself. Thanks!
Jon
Basement is partly finished; has bathroom; need to knock out some walls and probably put one up. Need to install flooring, suspended ceiling; some moderate plumbing and elecrical work.
Ancillary concern is that the electrical is done by a ceritifed electrician or is inspected by a civil engineer. This is for insurances purposes, as faulty wiring done by a non-certified elecrician voids any insurance coverage we get from accidents caused by basement wiring.
