Hello,
Would like to have the following additions done to my existing deck:
1. Stair built from lower tier (24" above grade) to ground including footing. Would like to have the stair framed in by planter boxes.
2. New railing on top tier (48" above grade), including a privacy screen on the West side of this tier.
3. Privacy screen on East side of lower tier.
4. Deck skirting (non-lattice). Throwing around idea's for this one.
Deck is built out of pressure treated lumber. Additions would need to match this spec.
We have a vision for how this looks and would be on site to discuss during quotation.
Let me know when works!

We are the owner of a 1990 built house and currently have a large four section deck that we want to replace with a smaller two section deck that can be built on the same piles used for the original deck.
The size of the new two section deck is 16 x 26 feet that includes an upper 15 x 26 section that is raised 3 feet off the ground and a lower 11 x 26 section that is raised about 2 feet off the ground. We enjoy our privacy on the deck and currently have a six foot fence on one side and would like a similar privacy fence placed on both sides of the new deck.
Although cost is a significant factor for us and we are open to alternatives, ideally I would like to build the fence in cedar, or a good wood appearance composite. We are open to PVC provided it is not cost prohibitive and does not look or feel like plastic.
We would like to convert the remaining 20 x 12 foot other old sections of the original larger deck into a slightly raised garden (with edging made from wood or some type of composite material) or a ground level patio area, but are not firm on that part of the plan yet and are open to suggestions for how best to use that old deck space.
We need a deck stained. It is two tier with each tier 15X14. There are 4 stairs from the top deck to the bottom one and 1 step from the bottom to the grass. There are no rails installed (we will be doing that after it is stained) so really easy job. Plus - we have already sanded the deck last fall so prep will be minimal. Likely could use a wash and treatment with a deck cleaner a couple of days before coming to stain it.
I have uploaded pictyres of my house and the location where the deck is to be built. iN ADDITION TO THAT, I just sent you guys an electronic copy of the plan with all the details in PDF and word 2007 document it will be a lot better and more clear if you guys view it instead of this long description. Email sent from jackie.louis@gmail.com on Monday 18 May 2009.
14'X12 Deck made of either TREX (Accent Saddle) or Rhino (Deck Sand) or EON or any composite equivalent. LEDGING IS ALREADY INSTALLED ON THE HOUSE’S MAIN WALL (14'). The house also has a 6' wall on one of the 12' edges of the deck.
The deck is around 4’ above the ground. At the end of the deck, in the center, there is a 7’ wide step (which is 3’ above the ground) in order to access a hot tub. On each sides of that “step down” are stairs with no railing but skirting.
Skirting on the deck will be of the same material as the deck floor but vertical alignment + framing. Also, as part of the skirting, there will be a door so we can access under the deck. The door could be made of a simple rectangular frame with hinges made of the same material of the deck floor, whatever is the simplest. I’d like to be able to lock it (nothing fancy, a simple lock will do).
Railing will be white aluminum frame with glass panels. PREFERABLY (in that order, depending what is available) 1) MERKY GLASS OR 2) FROSTED GLASS OR 3) SMOKED GLASS. If not available, Just quote for NORMAL GLASS RAILING WITH WHITE ALUMINIUM FRAME such as the one they sell at RONA or Home Depot i.e. Regal white with transparent glass panels. If possible, quote for each type of glass available (1-2-3 above). All the other sides will be normal white aluminum frame rails with glass panels.
There are 2 CONCRETE PILLARS ALREADY IN THE GROUND, FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE at 10' from the main wall at each corner (about 1' on the inside of the side edges).
STEP DOWN TO THE HOT TUB 7’X3’, 3’ above the ground WITH STEPS ON each SIDES (NO RAILINGS, JUST SKIRTING). This 7'X3' step is AT THE CENTER OF THE EDGE AT THE OPPOSITE SIDE of the house. Same material as the deck floor.

We have excavated a 22x29 ft section of our backyard, put down 2x 2" layers of aggregate and tamped the entire thing at each stage. We have not put down any sand yet.
We are looking for quotes to finish the space.
We want to have the walkway done (2-4 ft x 29 ft) in concrete (maybe stamped) and the patio area finished in stamped concrete or pavers (this will depend on the price difference).
Patio will be around 18x 26 ft of the space and will butt up against the walkway.
I'd like this finished as soon as possible. We would consider using 2 different companies or 1 if you can do both the walkway and the patio.
We like the look of stamped concrete for the patio but have concerns about it cracking so we would like to know about how long concrete can last with a good base against cracking.
Please reply via email as I can rarely get to the phone. We can send a photo and arrange a time to meet. We look forward to working with someone soon.
My front stairs need to be replaced - it appears the wood is rotting - they are not a standard set of stairs as they curve going down to meet up with the cement walkway. A new railing will also be needed.
My rear deck was installed incorrectly (I recently found out) - the beam is at the end of the deck instead of 24" in - I have been told it will not pass inspection. The beam is also twisting in ward. Replace beam and (approx 24' long)
My front steps need to be repaired/replaced as it looks like the wood is rotting. These stairs go down on a curve to meet up with the cement sidewalk. A new railing will also be needed.
The rear deck is one level off the ground and it appears the beam was installed incorrectly (at edge of deck not 24" in). This will require a new beam and support posts.
Front covered porch deck renovation. Size is approx 11ft x 6ft Replace existing deck boards with composite decking. Use hidden fastners. Replace old wooden railings with maintenance free aluminum railings. New set of steps about 5 ft wide. New hand rail on side of house.
Deck substructure needs some repairs. Possibly change joist widths to 12 inches OC to accommodate use of composite decking. For stairs 2x6 composite boards possibly.
This is an 8 x 12 backyard deck off our master bedroom, raised about 3 ft off the ground. We would like no maintenance deck materials. We are currently about to have landscaping work done in our backyard that is set to start in the next week or so and were hoping to coordinate the deck at the same time.
I am looking to have a deck built for my backyard. It will be 8' x 8' using light grey coloured composite deck boards and pressure treated beams and posts. There is already a ledger board attached to the house. There will be 3 steps up from ground to deck level across the entire one side of the deck. No skirting at this time. No railings at this time. My house is semi-detached and a new build so I would like adjustable posts.
I need a set of wooden steps built to our house. It needs to be:
a) 7 steps high
b) the landing is to be 7 feet wide by 7 feet deep (or there abouts, whatever the width of the boards work out to)
c) railings on both sides.
We will accept metal risers and railings. Thank you.
We have an existing deck presently but it is old and needs work plus last summer, because it was so dry, the front end dropped about 3 inches.
Would like to stay within a $3000.00 budget. Would like the size to be about 12'x12' We would like it to be made from Composite... Maintenance Free. Possibly metal railing.
We live in a bi-level so would like 2 sets of stairs (7 steps)
Please let me know if you are interested,
Thank you
I am looking to have a 2 tier deck that comes right from the back of my home. I am thinking that the one tier will be 14' x 20', this one is only one step off the ground and the 2nd tier would be 10' x 10' which is 2 steps off the ground. I would like to use cedar or a type of wood that will stand up to the elements, or any other type of deck material that will stand up against the elements. On the 10' x 10' portion I would like to make it into a screened in covered portion, and there would be rails all around with two sections off the bottom tier to the ground. I require quotes for the cost of material, labour and any permits. Thank you.
