We want to finish our 1000 sq ft basement. We need to insulate as it is not insulated outside of the bedrooms, and requires flooring throughout. We would also like to put in a bathroom with shower stall, frame a third room, and add 1-3 windows. It currently has only 2 framed bedrooms and a small storage room.
Greetings. We just moved into a house built in 1911. Unfortunately it appears a few strategically placed items hid the fact the floor and walls in the basement are crumbling. We had planned to finish the basement by adding a bathroom and closing in the ceiling and insulating the walls but now we need to fix and finish. Also there are these weird double window where they added onto the house but not the foundation that have dirt and building debris in them that we are concerned will be a problem. If this sounds like a job for you please contact us.

It is approximately 1000 sq. ft. area, .

I have an unfinished basement roughly 850 sq. ft. I am looking to it into a suite for rent. the goal is to have a 1 bedroom/ 1bath.
- Framing/ insulation/ electrical/ drywall will all need to be done
-The kitchen will be a simple kitchen with a table top burner/sink/set of cupboards (ikea brand is fine) and kitchen island
-lament flooring throughout. baseboard heaters in each room. recessed lights and switches in all rooms
-bathroom with shower/ simple sink/ vanity
-storage set up under stairs with apt laundry set up
-bedroom will have a closet
-sound proofing from the main house to the basement a must
- keeping the suite as open as possible to help make the space seem as large as possible
-finishing touches to be kept simple and elegant
As much as I want to keep the budget low, I will be looking for quality to keep maintenance simple and low cost.
We are purchasing a new modified bi-level home in Hampton Village, we want to develop a basement suite in the house. The house already has a secondary access into the basement built and a floorplan for the suite. The suite would be 735 square feet according to the blueprints. As this is a basement suite, we will not be looking to put in "top-of-the line" cabinetry or hard-wood flooring, but we'd meet the basic's and keep it affordable. We would like estimates per square foot to develop a basement suite, the blueprints indicate a 2 bedroom plan.
House build in approx 1960
,960ish sq ft.
Want suite to meet Minimum code for 2010
. Do not want anything fancy just slightly above basics

Exterior walls removed and re-insulated and re drywalled.

kitchen new cupboards and dishwasher.
Lino in kitchen hall and eat area carpet in livingroom and both bedrooms Paint throughout
I am new at this so I am not sure if this is enough detail for you to make a very rough estimate I have bugeted $15,000 for this reno Is it possible??
The suite will be gutted by landlords Myself and husband.
Thanks you for time and consideration,

We are looking at buying a 900 sqaure foot home and wanting to put a suite into the basement. It is a fully developed basement, house built in the 1920's. Has a bathroom in basement and old plumbing for a shower so that one can be installed. Needs to be plumbed in etc for a kitchen. We would like to do some work ourselves but not all of it. We would also buy all the materials needed.
I'd like to get some walls, shelves, and cabinets put up in my basement this summer, it's approximately 500 squ ft, I want to know if putting a half bath there would work for size as well. My budget is unclear, but I am aware of the kinds of costs involved. I want to put my home theatre down there when it's finished. I'd like internet connections to be wired in as well, I am discussing the specifics with the management currently but would like to get started soon.
This is an end unit townhouse condo.
My house is from 1922 and has a new tub, but there is no shower. I would need to have a proper wall built in order to have a shower put in - plumbing may need to be updated. I would also like the large closet in the bathroom removed, to make room for a bigger sink with a cupbaord underneith.
As for the basement - I have a concreate basement with a ground level crawl space - all of it is exposed. I would like to have that all cleaned up, insulated, and drywalled. There also seems to be a plumbing problem as my washing machine drains too fast and water comes up through the sewer, a bit morew than normal and dedirable.
Hi there,
I'm looking for help to finish my basement Reno. I'm redoing my kitchen countertop with laminate and a little touch up painting and shelving on the cabinets. Also looking to paint and install baseboard in 3 rooms.
Let me know if someone can come take a look at it this week.
Thanks very much,
Matty
I have a basement suite that had mold issues which has now been remediated.
I had a man working on it- but he only got halfway through before moving out of Saskatoon so I need someone to pick up where he left off and finish.
Entails: a small amount of framing in some duct work, some drywall/mud/tape (only replacing what was cut out because of the mold, and adding in the new duct work area), baseboards
As homeowners we have started development in our basement. We have run out of time and skills. At present, framing in basement is 75% complete, drywall is 75% complete (very little taping done). Electrical is 80% complete. Poly and insulation are done. Would like someone to do the complete bathroom (nothing has been started), finish framing, someone to mud, install lighting and any other electrical work and flooring, install ceiling (possibly laminate and ceramic tile in bathroom.)
Located in saskatoon, home built in 2014, looking for quotes to finish +/-560 sq ft basement.
minimum needed:
- framed
- insulated
- drywalled
(Would like quote for the above)
Additional work depending on cost:
- small 3 pc bathroom (toilet, sink, stand up shower)
- ceiling, flooring and any other basic finishing touches
(Would also like quote to fully complete with all the above)
I need to get this project finished before the end of this August. The basement is already framed (and inspected) and the electrical is in (and inspected). I now need someone to come in and install the insulation/vapor barrier and mud/tape (drywall is already hung). Please let me know if you would be willing to take this on with such short notice. Thanks!
We are planning a kitchen reno in the near future. It will be a down-to-the-studs gut and rebuild job, including new windows and doors in new locations. We have a few design options already and would like quotes for two of them so we can determine which plan to go with.
We also have a basement that we would like to develop, but that will happen over time rather than all at once. We would like quotes for framing, wiring and rough-in's for a new bathroom for now. The house is old- 1926 - so we would be most comfortable with a contractor who has experience with older homes and the unique "opportunities" they can bring.
Hi,
I have two projects that I would like you to quote on. First, there appears to be water damage on the floor beside my front door. The door does not quite fit properly and the floor needs to be repaired as well.
Second, our basement is completely unfinished. I would like a quote to complete one bedroom, one bathroom (toilet, shower, vanity, no tub) and finish the rest as family room.
The first job must be done. The basement will depend on final cost to develop.
thank you.
Hi There,
I'm looking for an estimate of a basement suit development on the house I'm about to buy.
I'm trying to get a 30,000 CAD from the bank and I need to provide a quote showing what I can get done with this amount. Of course I'll be covering the remining work.
Are you able to get me prices for the different items needed (Kitchen, Bathroom, Flooring, Electricity, Etc) including labor and materials?
Just that you know, I'm doing the exercise with two more contractors and will be picking based on the best price.
Thanks in advance!
We are a young family just starting out, and have just bought our first home, (built in 2001 by Fraser Home builders.)
The Basement bathroom, bedroom, and laundry room still needs to be finished.
The frames are up, the doors are on, and the windows are in but everything else needs work! Such as the dry walling, the floor, the sink, shower stand, toilet etc. Our main concern is the basement bathroom, the other two rooms can be negotiated for future development. We would like to stretch our dollars as far as possible. Our procession date is April 1st, and our deadline is April 18th, because the new addition to our growing family is due April 20th. We are seeking an experienced and flexible renovator/contractor/plumber who can help us take on this challenge.
If you are enthusiastic and willing to help, please respond by email, or phone.

I have a house built in 1912. The support posts in the basement are made of wood. At some time in the life of the house, their was some water in the basement. I believe the bottom of the post has rotted some and the floor it is holding up has dipped a bit. Cracks and slightly tilted floor and hard to shut door have appeared directly above the post in question.
I've thought about doing this myself, but I think since this is an important structural piece, I should employ a professional with experience who knows how to properly do this job. I'm actually not sure whether consultation with a structural engineer is necessary or not but I do want it done properly. I'm also not knowledgeable about the cement footing it sits on and whether sulfates in the cement over time have weakened the footing or not. There is another post, but I am not sure whether it needs replacing or not.
