I am needing a panel changed to get more spaces. This panel is completely full and I will need more breakers added down the road. I would like it done to code and with a permit. There is 34" of horizontal room on the wall if the new panel was to be mounted on its side if that is still allowed. I would prefer not to use the same brand of panel. Please email me your questions and estimates. Offers responded to can arrange a time during business hours to view the job for a formal quote.
Knob and tube wiring located on first and second floors of a 1912 house. The total square footage of the the part(s) of the house to be re-wired is approx 1200 square feet. While I understand that the damage is to be determined (based on what the electricians do), I'm wondering how much I should budget for wall repair on such a house.
We own a property that is currently vacant in Saskatoon and up for sale. It has been brought to our attention that the current location of the electrical panel box must be relocated as it is in the basement laundry/bathroom and next to a water supply. The panel box would need to be moved probably to the other side of the wall. We also would need to have the house hard wired with smoke/co detectors as we are considering turning the property into a rental.
It is an old house with dry brittle wiring. The basement was a do-it-yurself wiring by the last owner. I qualified for the Eco-Energy home grant and it was recommended that the wiring be looked at.
I work northern manitoba and will be available for a walk through until October 1,2011.
My next leave will be October 24th until Nov 4.
Thank you.
I need to have live knob and tube wiring removed from my home, and I would like to add additional electrical outlets to 2 rooms of my house. I would also like to add two exterior electrical outlets, and electrify the detatched garage.
Here are the details: I own and live in a 953 sq foot bungalow built in 1926, located in Holiday Park area. There is no record of any electrical permits ever having been filed with the city for my house. I bought the house in July 2018, and the housing inspection indicated that, although there is a newer electrical panel (installed in last 15 years I believe), there is still live knob and tube wiring to 2 rooms (a bedroom and the living room) at the front of the house. The rest of the wiring is modern and the housing inspector and one electrician I had look at it before buying seemed to the think the newer wiring was fine, but could be cleaned up with a junction box or two. The basement is unfinished (about 6 foot headroom) and the wiring is accessible in the basement ceiling and visible without moving anything. Most main floor walls have original lathe and plaster. I would be okay with electrical outlets either in the wall, or new outlets put into the floor if it is easier and cleaner. I would like the old knob and tube removed, 1 or 2 additional plug-ins added to the living room. I believe it will be necessary to install junction boxes where needed and install armoured cable to exposed wires. If it fits into the budget, I would like to add 2 external plug ins on the outside of the house (one at or near the front and one at or near the back), or at least one on the back of the house. I would also like to put electricity into the detached garage, which is in the backyard. It looks like a previous owner got half-way through this project of taking electricity to the garage and then abandoned it, and I am unsure whether any of the previous work can be used. If not, it may not be possible to do the garage work with my existing budget, so I would prefer if the work could be quoted with and without the garage.
It is essential to me that any contractor have WCB coverage for all employees or independent contractors, and that work be done by licensed electrician journeymen/apprentices, and that all work be done with the proper permits.
