We are renovating our basement into a home theatre and will be replacing the carpet and staircase. The Walnut treads and risers that are being used for the new staircase have already been cut and finished as they were originally going to be used for a different staircase in our 4-level-split home.
We are trying to do majority of the work ourselves, but don't know in which order things should be done.
We will be removing the old carpet and underlay as well as the old carpeted staircase. Should the new staircase be installed before or after the new carpeting is laid?
It would be a good idea to install the staircase first, then the carpet. This way the carpet can finish neatly to the stairs
definitely install and finish the stairs first. Then the carpet can go right up to finished stairs. Walnut stairs are beautiful!
Thank you!!!
Yes,
Stairs first, Then carpet.
