How much should I expect to pay in Toronto to have an old plaster/lathe wall replaced with fire-resistant drywall and soundproofing insulation? The quotes I'm getting are all over the map. Thanks in advance for the assist.
Hey there Cooper. Thanks for reaching out to us with your question. To replace the entirety of a wall you can expect to be looking at about $50-$80 per sq ft for the drywall, and for the insulation roughly $1-$1.50 per sq ft. Keep in my these are rough estimates as I am not located in Ontario and I have not seen the space, but I hope this helps with your decision. Thanks
We use a budget of around 10 sq ft
cost of lathe/plaster removal, disposal, clean up should be around 3/sq ft
6" thick of sound insulation, 6 mil poly vapor barrier and 5/8" type x fire rated drywall taping and sanding should be 6.50/sq ft

Hi all... Thanks for the replies. Here are a few more details. I'm looking at about 300 square feet, all in. The space is a party wall on the upper floor of a semi-detached house in central Toronto. The wall cover three rooms (two bedrooms and a hallway, actually,) that roughly 10 ft, 8ft and 12 ft in length along the party wall.
