We have walls along our upstairs to downstairs hallway that I would love to remove. It's in aVictorian house so is currently lathe & plaster.
I would like to put new walls up afterwards. No paint necessary.
Any idea on the cost of something like this?
Hi Van,
First, was the house built prior to the 50's? If so the plaster was lime and horse hair and not asbestos fibres put in to bind the plaster. But to be sure first take a small piece of plaster and have it tested for asbestos.
To price, I would need some pictures, wall area measurements, and if any, removal of base and any trim to be done. Also is there any outside walls to be insulated.?
Thanks,
Rilly
Thanks for the replies!
The house was built in 1890, but yes I think testing for asbestos would be a good idea especially on a bump out upstairs as it's textured and I'm unsure of when that was added.
Can you recommend where to get it tested in Ontario?
The rough square footage for the walls is 649 square ft. There would be one wall that would need insulation as it is an outside wall. The square footage for that is 235.
82 feet of baseboard length.
Thanks again
